    Great start. I was a Army Medic for a while and who ever told you not to have a bp cuff is ignorant. Once you learn the proper bp levels and what irregularities might mean, a cuff and stethoscope are very important. A stethoscope is also used to check the respiratory track. A good thermometer is good so you can check for a fever. Something else that is useful is an Otoscope. You can get a decent one on eBay for around $30.-40.00+, look on TH-cam and you can learn to use it. Checking vitals in your home is just as important as checking vitals on the battlefield.

      Swamp Fox thank you for the advice.

      Being in emergency medicine for a very long time, I agree with you 100%.
      When I went to school, they told us the most useful tools we will ever have is our power of observation; which includes vitals.
      Taking a blood pressure is a very good skill to know. As in the medical field, we say hypertension (High Blood Pressure) is the silent killer.

    • @bdogg20101
      @bdogg20101 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A Manual blood Pressure is relatively easy skill to learn and to do.
      NEVER trust an Automated BP machine that you find at a Local Pharmacy. They are not accurate. And the best way to get an accurate Blood Pressure Reading is manually.

    • @bdogg20101
      @bdogg20101 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blood Pressure cuff, Stethoscope, an Ear or Oral Thermometer, and even a Pulse Oximeter is very beneficial.
      Pulse Oximeter measures 2 things... your heart rate and the amount of oxygen that is being carried in your blood. Especially useful now with Covid.

    • @bdogg20101
      @bdogg20101 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I agree with Swamp Fox. Taking your vitals can give you an overall view of your health. And when one of the values go outside the normal range, that is an indication to go to your doctor for a follow up.

      Thats the thing about being prepared. You can buy a little at a time. Then you can slowly build your first aid kit and trauma kit. Does not have to be all at once.

      +SimplyMe1970 Are you thinking of replenishing the smaller one you have first then starting this one? The tackle box is around $45. There is a larger one.

    Great organization! One of the best kits that I have seen. I also have a blister kit that includes second skin for extended walking, an epi-pen, some 4x4's, tourniquet, quick clot (I know there are different schools of thought on this), glucose tabs, and O.B. tampons that can double for first aid too. Keep the BP cuff it can double as a tourniquet and important if you know how to take vitals. I also have a O2 sat finger monitor. I know this may be a little over the top but I have people in my family who have some health issues. Leatherman makes one of the best EMS multi-tools called the Raptor that I have used.
    Keep up the awesome work!!! Thanks for sharing.

    • @SimplyCherie
      @SimplyCherie  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Aaron Kimura Why thank you! Yes, I need to put tampons in here - and the blister kit (great idea!), epi-pen, and tourniquet.

    • @swampfox5329
      @swampfox5329 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simply Cherie Tampons will kill the injured person in a grid down scenario from infection. Full of bacteria, they are not sterile. To a certain degree the vagina is acidic so that bacterial cannot thrive. Besides they are expensive. Buy a military dressing off of eBay instead.

    So very thorough! What sort of disasters happen in your area? I realized after this summer I may need a forest fire kit if we were ever evacuated.

    • @SimplyCherie
      @SimplyCherie  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sweet And Simple Home Yes, I saw that! I'm glad all of you are fine. Ours would be the haboobs (intense dust storms - although very rare), monsoons, thunderstorms, flash flooding. Luckily, my area does not have flash floods. But if any of these storms down the power lines, we would be stuck in the house - and at 115 in the summer! Our AC broke and the guy couldn't fix it for 2 days because he was booked. So we decided to wait for him. Well, it got to 91 in my house from 78 in 3 hours. And that was with the other AC working (we have 2 floors). Since the electricity was still on, we had fans going. It would be a different story with no electricity at all.

    Fantastic idea.. *Question Do you have a good easy read *First Aid medical booklet*, to go with it ? It is amazing that so many ppl, have all this great gear and mess up the application of proper first aid ...causing greater problems down the road. Others will over use medications, or supplies and empty a lot of supplies, not knowing better....it is good to have an *I.C.E* (in case of emergency papers for family members with allergies, and injury listing and contact info) papers included in your FAK cheers ;-)

      Kanzee being in emergency medicine, the all time best book hands down for First Aid for the family is written by Emergency Room Doctors.
      American College of Emergency Medicine First Aid Book. I think they are on the 5th edition.
      Has about every emergency possible. Easy to follow, step by step instructions, and it even has diagrams too.
      Its on Amazon.
