I think a lot of it comes down to reliability/safety/regulations. You can modify the hell out of your personal vehicle and if it breaks down constantly that's okay for you, but manufacturers have to be a lot more conservative.
if I remember correctly, the Rimac beat the Lamborghini and the Acura in a rush, against the Porsche he would also win, but against the Patrol... I wanted to see what would happen, since this patrol must have what? 2 tons?

This nissan is a GTR in disguise. It's running the full GTR engine and gearbox and is more or less like a shell of a patrol. However nissan are outrageously power by themselves and run 1000 plus HP here in Dubai and rest of the middle east. Smart sport car owners know never to challenge a patrol here. This car had stopped production when the new Y62 patrol came out but it was put back in to production at the request of the fans here and it still sells very well

Sure the 918 takes it on that distance, but do it on a 1/2 mile and I can assure you the story will be different, I bet after 160/170 mph the Veyron takes off way faster than the 918

That was such plot armor playing against the Veyron in such a short race. There are plenty of cars that could take it in what appears to be a 1/4 mile. But push that to a half mile or more and that 918 would get killed. Literally blown away.
Probably not, you forget the veyron only has 1k horse power, only just over 100 more than that 918, and the 918 is lighter. It would take more than a mile for a veyron to take over that car and by then its irrelevant in terms of a drag race.
Veyron is an old car, a 2 tons car with 1000 hp
You can look at their top speeds and compare that way. But the Veyron has always been overhyped, and a little ugly compared to the other highest top speed competitors. Koenigsegg, Mclaren, Saleen, Hennessy, maybe even Aston Martin .

When I saw that Nissan patrol had drag tires, I was sure 918 is going to be destroyed. I’m estimating it had at least 1500WHB to show that kind of performance🥶🥶🥶

This was a bit like when they raced a Maloo against a Ford van. A turbo charged, Jaguar engine Ford van, but a Ford van nonetheless.

My uncle gas a 7.2l Nissan patrol and it does 3.1 m.p.g can do 298mph. Leaves most cars for dead on my estate

The Nissan patrol race reminded me of the race they had with a Ford transit van against a Holden ute ...the difference with the van is they put a jaguar x220 motor from a race in the back and it smashed the car in the race..still makes me laugh now years later...that was when it was on bbc2 before jermery went all doolally. 😏🤣

It's funny to see the amount of people that don't understand the Bugatti isn't a 0-60 car, it's a top speed car. It's geared out to get the maximum top end that it can. I'm sure if Bugatti wanted they could regear the car for bottom end and put up stupid 0-60 and 1/4 mile times if they wanted. Now if they redid this race and said first to the end of a 5 mile stretch the Veyron would probably be fast enough to be most of the way through the return trip before the Porsche crossed the line. I do love that 918 though...
