Porsche engineering specifically. But even then there is something magic in that 911 Turbo S - it can hold its own against nearly any ICE or hybrid ICE. And is easily the fastest in its price range.
You’re supposed to go as soon as the arms move , not when they reach the bottom. So as soon as you see movement you go.Just like a racing tree . You go as soon as the light changes green . Edit ; 2:28 is a good launch and 3:05 is a good launch but the third run is a jump.
Biggest difference IMO is you can daily the turbo S for a “fraction” of the price of the 918 and on normal roads, turbo S is a no brainer.. that being said the design and tech of the 918 is unparalleled. It’s a 918. Both beautiful works of machinery, well done.

Need a traffic light system ( tree ) so everyone can go on green. Problem with mat is he makes the race about himself and his reactions by always trying to get the jump. But you’ve got to remember it’s a competition between the cars not the people who have a unfair disadvantage to the start
It totally amazes me how an almost 10yo car is able to outdo the mighty 911, knowing the 992 is so advanced and quick. It also blows my mind how we are getting used to this level of performance in relatively "normal" supercars, this used to be hypercar level not even a decade ago.

Not entirely true. The Shelby GT500 abd 992 would be close in a roll race. The Shelby GT500 even keeps up with the Lamborghini aventador like the 992 turbo S. We don't have a proper video on TH-cam yet of the 992 turbo S and GT500 in a roll race. Hopefully that happens soon
People underestimate the GT500 because it's a Mustang and slightly heavier than average. The DCT in the Shelby GT500 is super quick. If the 992 turbo S keeps up and evenly match in a roll with the demon and the GT500 does the same, then they'll be close. No doubt the turbo S will win a drag race due to AWD and rear engine layout.

I don’t think that there is any other car that has been featured as much as the 911 turbo S . Goes to show how brilliant this car is was and will ever be . No one can match this car
It is not as good as you think it is, it is great dont get me wrong but if you think this is impressive you have been watching a lot of drag races. This whole car unlike others is made to be as quick as possible in a drag race only and does not accelerate as much when you are not from a starting position. The GT2 RS and many Ferraris would Lap this car times and times again in a race, but for some reason people are only interested in drag races although that does not matter anywhere.
@@meankronen8217 There's more to the turbo s than just drag races or any kind of racing in general. It certainly is more comfortable than a GT2 RS and with AWD it's much more usable in all weather conditions. Yeah it isn't exciting as a GT3 but it was never meant to be that car. Overall, it's a much more usable car than a GT2 RS.
Two of my favorite cars from my favorite manufacturer. However I've seen the 918 hit hi 9s quarter-mile on other shows and I've also seen Matt hit 10.1s inches 911 TURBO S. But overall Matt did a great job on his usual checkups on half mile and 50mph stopping ability 👏
I CAN’T get enough of Porche… what a classic, sporty, exotic car this is. I just adore the interior and the exterior as it has a bull dog aggressive look yet also class put into this car.
I'll echo what I've always said about a 911 Turbo and it's contemporary competition. Miss it and it's gone. If it gets on boost before you react, not much will catch it up. What a legend. What a pair!
What an insane drag race especially the 2nd race. Matt you should drag race that 918 Spyder against something like a McLaren 765Lt or a Ferrari 812 Superfast. Also, the 2 Porsches in silver looked really cool side by side. They were the silver bullets!
@@mabombo8221 after three runs, the Mclaren... It overheats and needs cooling while the Porsche can keep going ... They dont show the cooldown time they needed in between runs... So in perfect conditions yes... But like a Tesla Plaid vs a Porsche Taycan Turbo S, in the end the Porsche is always more reliable and better ... So in a stop light where you are running the car and its already heated, there may be a different result....
My dad got tricked by the sneaky salesman last week. He wanted to buy a Prius but got tricked into buying a Porsche Spyder. He didn't regret it though.
Apparently the 911 Turbo S has a boost function for short bursts, the button is in the center of the mode dial, I would like to see how much of a difference it makes in a rolling race & drag if it will engage from stand still. (Normal/Sport selector dial, push the button in the center)
The P1 is my favorite from the holy trinity and the LaFerrari is the most striking but the 918 has aged the least out of the 3. It’s drop dead gorgeous. Still haven’t seen one in person yet and I hope I do soon.

The soft limiter is depressing, it's not the most striking car ever made and it's a big old thing, but goddamn what horses Porsche stuff into that engine, they really move! The only place the 918 really thrashed it was the rolling race, and that was just a demonstration of the gap in torque output, and even then, the 992 is not far behind. The fact you need a £1.3m hyper car to white wash a 992 Turbo S shows how ridiculously fast it is.
Porsche is mostly the only brand using VTG turbos on petrol performance cars which give them a good andvantage in terms of turbo lag. At lesat as far as I know. Just one example of the engineering gone into this car. Only VW use them on the 1.5TSI engine but a way cheaper version because the exhaust gases are way cooler or get cooled down far enough to work with cheaper VTG Turbos.
I’m so impressed with the Turbo S. 200 less horsepower and it keeps up with the 918 in the quarter mile!! Goes to show how Porsche engineering has improved since 2013-14. Owning a 918 would be an absolute dream. I love both the Turbo S and 918, and I would absolutely love to own both. Porsche FTW!
it did the 1/4 mile in 10.4 here but it can do better like 10.0-10.1 too so if matt got a perfect launch he could've beat the 918, still impressive tho
Porsche knows what they’re doing. I’m a huge 911 fan but that 918 spyder sounds amazing, looks timeless after being out for a decade. And it’s quick as hell. But for the turbo s to keep up shows how much improvements the 911 has gone through
I've suggested this before and I'll suggest it again - you need to get a light tree so you can both launch properly. And set it up to DQ you if you jump the start. Anyway, another impressive "victory" for the Turbo S considering how down it is on power compared to the Spyder.

Not entirely true. The Shelby GT500 abd 992 would be close in a roll race. The Shelby GT500 even keeps up with the Lamborghini aventador like the 992 turbo S. We don't have a proper video on TH-cam yet of the 992 turbo S and GT500 in a roll race. Hopefully that happens soon
People underestimate the GT500 because it's a Mustang and slightly heavier than average. The DCT in the Shelby GT500 is super quick. If the 992 turbo S keeps up and evenly match in a roll with the demon and the GT500 does the same, then they'll be close. No doubt the turbo S will win a drag race due to AWD and rear engine layout.

You could do a lot of tuning with the difference of initial cost to make that 911 much lighter, much more powerful, and still have enough money left over to buy a decent house!

@@s.i_xo They did a race over a mile the P1 had to go over 200mph to get near the bike unless you have a Bugatti Chiron or a car of that type you’re not going to be to a bike in a straight line modern day superbikes have 200+Hp and a power to weight ratio of over 1000 per ton the only only thing I can think of that would even t Beating a bike is the aerial atom V-8 that thing has just as much Horsepower per ton then the bike so you can see what car you have to be have to get anywhere near a bike

It is not as good as you think it is, it is great dont get me wrong but if you think this is impressive you have been watching a lot of drag races. This whole car unlike others is made to be as quick as possible in a drag race only and does not accelerate as much when you are not from a starting position. The GT2 RS and many Ferraris would Lap this car times and times again in a race, but for some reason people are only interested in drag races although that does not matter anywhere.

@@meankronen8217 There's more to the turbo s than just drag races or any kind of racing in general. It certainly is more comfortable than a GT2 RS and with AWD it's much more usable in all weather conditions. Yeah it isn't exciting as a GT3 but it was never meant to be that car. Overall, it's a much more usable car than a GT2 RS.

However I've seen the 918 hit hi 9s quarter-mile on other shows and I've also seen Matt hit 10.1s inches 911 TURBO S.
But overall Matt did a great job on his usual checkups on half mile and 50mph stopping ability 👏

What an insane drag race especially the 2nd race. Matt you should drag race that 918 Spyder against something like a McLaren 765Lt or a Ferrari 812 Superfast. Also, the 2 Porsches in silver looked really cool side by side. They were the silver bullets!

@@mabombo8221 after three runs, the Mclaren... It overheats and needs cooling while the Porsche can keep going ... They dont show the cooldown time they needed in between runs... So in perfect conditions yes... But like a Tesla Plaid vs a Porsche Taycan Turbo S, in the end the Porsche is always more reliable and better ... So in a stop light where you are running the car and its already heated, there may be a different result....

Apparently the 911 Turbo S has a boost function for short bursts, the button is in the center of the mode dial, I would like to see how much of a difference it makes in a rolling race & drag if it will engage from stand still. (Normal/Sport selector dial, push the button in the center)
The P1 is my favorite from the holy trinity and the LaFerrari is the most striking but the 918 has aged the least out of the 3. It’s drop dead gorgeous. Still haven’t seen one in person yet and I hope I do soon.
And the 918 was the fastest on the track 😏

The soft limiter is depressing, it's not the most striking car ever made and it's a big old thing, but goddamn what horses Porsche stuff into that engine, they really move! The only place the 918 really thrashed it was the rolling race, and that was just a demonstration of the gap in torque output, and even then, the 992 is not far behind.
The fact you need a £1.3m hyper car to white wash a 992 Turbo S shows how ridiculously fast it is.
Porsche is mostly the only brand using VTG turbos on petrol performance cars which give them a good andvantage in terms of turbo lag. At lesat as far as I know. Just one example of the engineering gone into this car. Only VW use them on the 1.5TSI engine but a way cheaper version because the exhaust gases are way cooler or get cooled down far enough to work with cheaper VTG Turbos.

I’m so impressed with the Turbo S. 200 less horsepower and it keeps up with the 918 in the quarter mile!! Goes to show how Porsche engineering has improved since 2013-14. Owning a 918 would be an absolute dream. I love both the Turbo S and 918, and I would absolutely love to own both. Porsche FTW!
it did the 1/4 mile in 10.4 here but it can do better like 10.0-10.1 too so if matt got a perfect launch he could've beat the 918, still impressive tho

Porsche knows what they’re doing. I’m a huge 911 fan but that 918 spyder sounds amazing, looks timeless after being out for a decade. And it’s quick as hell. But for the turbo s to keep up shows how much improvements the 911 has gone through

I've suggested this before and I'll suggest it again - you need to get a light tree so you can both launch properly. And set it up to DQ you if you jump the start.
Anyway, another impressive "victory" for the Turbo S considering how down it is on power compared to the Spyder.
