It's crazy that it varies so much property to property. IMO - you should never have to ask for it. The hotel should inform you that an upgrade is available at check-in/or explain why it isn't. You're not asking for anything extra - it's part of the perks of your status with them whether through credit card or stayed nights. Thanks for the great info + video!

"IMO - you should never have to ask for it."----totally agree, I play the long game, I am looking for an upgrade maybe the next time, freebies during my stay, and sometimes extra water or points.

I enjoy your videos and podcasts but repeatedly click through the first 2 minutes to avoid a review of whichever school you attended. Your listeners care far more about your card expertise than your academic background. Thank you and look forward to future content.

Totally agreed on all fronts!! Speaking of dilution, I really don’t want an Auto-Globalist WoH card for the same reason Hilton Diamond is diluted in the U.S. as you guys said.
    Love the “perception is reality”.
    Great episode guys!

I DISAGREE with you Sean, regardless of your elite status, there is always a possibility of the hotel being completely full or setting aside a top room, or like one hotel employee told me ". There's a possibility that Michael Jordan maybe passing through". I personally think that regardless of WHAT AVAILABILITY is on the app or what we see is on the website BEING NICE and non-entitled is the best way to handle those situations bc you may need to come back to that hotel.
I listened to your podcast on the coming Hyatt credit card and thought that Sean was a bit too concerned about upgrades. I don't worry about getting an upgrade, and I get upgraded more times than I want. I KNOW SOME UPGRADES ARE MANDATORY, BUT I NEVER ASK THE HOTEL EMPLOYEES FOR IT. The pushback that you guys keep mentioning can be seen as entitlement by some hotel employees, it's putting people on the spot and can be embarrassing to them.
