Kevin - thank you for sharing your thoughts and your journey. It is one of the most honest and informative opinions I have come across. Wish you nothing but the best in your career and your love life (Congrats BTW on your engagement). Full disclosure - my daughter did use your help in her essays. She is going to be sophomore in Olin College of Egg this fall and very happy with her choice (her #2 choice after MIT)

I got accepted to UVA and felt happy when you talked about their alumni network. I’ve always heard good things about it from graduates of UVA 🧡💙

This was very helpful! Also, I'm getting ready to go through the application process now, and so many people have been telling me I'm foolish for wanting to apply at Ivy League schools when my career is going to be art (even after giving them reasons), so thank you for validating my decision. 😄Congratulations on the engagement by the way!

this video was so amazing! i’m co ‘27 and i turned down an ivy league (penn) for a full ride from a public state school (university of delaware). my efc for penn was $89k/year and i just couldn’t do that when i had a free option haha. i have no idea if i made the right choice but i’m optimistic! i also plan to go to grad school so maybe someday i’ll be an ivy league grad 😌

08:54 TH-cam is such an important factor for my decision in college application lol for one can learn SOOOO much here without restriction (especially censorship and the rigid value systems of the mainstream academics)
But yea I didn't know TH-cam can also compare to an Ivy league education - that was new and interesting information and thanks for talking about it

As somebody who went to a state school, I wish I had gone to their satellite campus, it's literally 40% cheaper. Alterantively, I wish I had gone to a extension/satellite campus out-of state. I could have paid the same amount to go to an extension campus in Hawaii on out-of-state tuition, as my school on in-state tuition rates. I realy wish somebody had told me all my options instead of just expecting me to know it all or pick one they wanted me to.

Another thing i have seen as person watching things from outside the country (may be called "stupid" for speaking about things that "dont concern me as i'm not even from that country") is that they are very WOKE (at least i think that's how they are called in english). They will push you politic through the throat until you can't anymore

Hi friends! It's been 2 years since we started this TH-cam channel + agency to help kids get into colleges. So far, we've helped more than 70+ students from all across the world and every background imaginable get into every single Ivy League School, Stanford, MIT and more! If you're interested in working with us, please visit our brand spanking new website: www.elevated.school/getstarted
Finally, please note that we do take on exceptional low-income students every year, so if you identify as part of that group and would like a scholarship, let us know!

Short answer: Only if you are successful at cultivating connections that will help you get jobs. That's it. If you want to LEARN, you can do that, as Elon Musk noted, on your own. EDIT: The Ivy League is just an athletic conference. Entry into the athletic conference is not based on academic prestige.

Here is a personal question Zhen, I've taken a gap year to improve my grades and even then my chances of getting in are slim considering I even get a 3.7-3.8 gpa. My parents live on their pension and I'm living alone and working at the same time to provide for myself. If I were to apply to an ivy in the hopes of becoming a designer and an entrepreneur I would have to do so with a full financial aid application and having a weak GPA as an international student, weak extracurriculars, and an unpopular career path I am worried It is simply a waste of time and money. What would you do in my position?

TL;DR - Paying $0 for a 4 year education is probably almost always "worth it" unless your 4 year opportunity cost is unusually high.
