Yes. I really like the final conclusion you've made. That's the way brave and firm people regularly see.
Looking forward to your new works.
Thanks S. I have some good video’s coming soon 😊👍🏻
@@JackMackWoodturning , Great. Looking forward to.
The bowl is really amazing. Thank you very much for the very good idea that I am trying to do this evening. Best regards from Germany - Mike (alias Payman)
Thanks a lot Mike. Much appreciated 👍🏻😉
You really know how to show off the grain to its absolute best advantage.
Great wood turning. You are one of the few wood turners that I have seen bore a hole for the spur drive. This is an excellent safety practice to keep wood on the lathe in the event it decides it wants to fly off. I do this regularly and it has saved me on a few occasions when the wood wants to play games. More wood turners need to learn and use this practice regularly. Thanks for showing it in your video.
I’m so sorry to disagree with you but, that was used on this occasion to achieve full surface connection.. the wood around the spur is not for safety.
When used correctly a spur drive between centres is one of the safest holding methods and I start even the biggest bowls in this way. There is no need to drill into a work piece to fit a drive centre and it actually takes away one of the great advantage of starting your work between centres, that is the ability to adjust and correct the alignment of the work piece as you go.
@@JackMackWoodturning Ok. What ever you say. Whether you agree not not, it sill provides a measure of safety even if not intentionally done.
Yeah but it’s a false safety measure as the correct safety measures is learning to mount the wood correctly so that it will never come out.
A fail safe for a faulty mounting method is not safe practice it is ignoring the true issue at hand.
Woodturning has been practiced and mastered though history as far back as the ancient Egyptians, as with all wood working, we already have safe practices set. The basics require no innovation. Doing so is muddying the waters of the craft.
Beautiful work and finish, surely not for beginners!!!
Thanks Joe. Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻😉

Gorgeous wood. Beautiful bowl. 🧡
Thanks Bill. Glad you enjoyed it buddy 😉👍🏻
I like it how that big stump out of the middle just fell down the back of the lathe when you sawed it off, it was quite funny, , , to me anyway. And at the end when you flicked the little stump off the foot, priceless! You're the Man Jack. Oh yeah, the cube was top notch. Best regards.
Thanks John. Glad you found it entertaining matey. 😉👍🏻
Lovely bowl! Obviously a nice start to a set. Well done!

Much appreciated Dennis. Let me know how you get on 😉👍🏻
Cool. Nice spalting . I though it would be punky and full of tear out. Turned out real nice. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks mate. It was super punky and I ending up with a few small patches of tear out.. really annoying.. I nearly didn’t make this one into a video.
Thanks for watching
Beautiful

Oof that squeak at 0:07. Get some butter on ya saw lad!

Hello. I like watching your videos and the format is excellent. I was thinking that you could have made two bowls from this. Put a tenon on both ends and cut in half. Just my way of thinking :-) Well done, awesome work
I understand why you thing that but this style bowl actually used the top 3 points from the tenon. Rather than the bottom 3.. it’s quite difficult to get your head around I know but he basics are that a 3 pointed bowl made from a cube used the lower 2/3rds of the blank.
Does that make sense ? 😊
@@JackMackWoodturning Hello again. Having further watched the video a number of times , I understand now what you have said. Thank you for taking the time to explain. If I manage to come buy some suitable wood, I will give this a go. Thank you and regards etc
I have my lathe now and am going to try this even if I mess up. This piece is magnificent.
Make sure to do it safely 👍. Your Lathe should be strong enough and have enough rpm to turn that spinning block lol. I just started woodturning as well my lathe is no where near strong enough to pull this off lol
@@desertsmeagol7073 Now you have scared me, haha.
@@MickyBellRoberts just start with a smaller cube say 6”x6” and go slow so the wood doesn’t splinter.
@@trurex007lee7 Thank you for your advice sir, I appreciate it.
Agreed. Safety first. Be sure your tools are sharp as well. I sometimes sharpen more than ten times a day. 👍🏻😉
Beautiful work!
Thanks Nate. This is an old one. Have you been going back through the catalogue?
@@JackMackWoodturning lol yeah, just checking out your amazing creations. I really like how you try to use every little piece of wood, even if it is mixed with resin. You are so creative and skilled
JM, very nice as usual. You never cease to amaze! Great work
Cheers BM. Glad you enjoyed it 😉👍🏻
As always, I remind you of Elderberry Wand 😃
😂😂😂
Haven’t found the wood yet!
Beautiful, Jack. I love the design. Take care.
Thanks COW. Glad you enjoyed it 😉👍🏻
Really really great! Love how it looks.
Cheers Billy. Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻😉
I’d love to send you some of the wood burl I’ve collected over the past year. I’m afraid to turn most of it, knowing that I’ll screw it up. Impeccable work as usual sir.
I’d like that very much too… and would be happy to pay the postage 😊
@@JackMackWoodturning I’ll tell you what. If you’d like, I could send you some pictures of what I have and you let me know what you’d be interested in and we’ll make it happen.
@@k9insomniac783 I’d love that. Do you have instagram?
@@JackMackWoodturning No sir. Actually, the only social media platform I use is TH-cam. I was trying to think of a way to contact you privately. I’m working on that. Worst case. I’ll download it and get it set up so we can further this. I would be ecstatic to send you some pieces just to see what you come up with. This will happen. I give you my word.

I wanna make a mix of the two cube bowls. The foot of this one but the flaring out at the lip of the other bowl. Thank you for the inspiration
No sweat Diluted. Let me know how you get on mate 👍🏻😉
Again, unique and special.
Would like to give a shout out to whoever does your camera work - that is outstanding also and really gives us an up-close view of your amazing work. But maybe you use stationery set-ups?? Regardless, good camera work!
Haha thanks. I wish I could persuade someone to do my camera work 🤣🤣 it’s just me, my camera and my lathe unfortunately.
Thanks for the kind words 👍🏻😊
very good.so know how for a beginner like me
Doing some tutorials soon buddy! Keep your eyes peeled 👀
@@JackMackWoodturning ok thanks for the advice. i will keep trying
ОФИГЕННО !!!!!
Beautiful bowl
Nice one Kerajinan. Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻😉
To jack mac good luck on your 🪵wood turning hope it turns out nice
afterwards please 🙏tell me what it is please 🙏from paul chapman at sheen
It’s a bowl Paul. Thanks for watching man 👍🏻😉
Great work. How long does it take to clean up after each creation?
About 20 minutes. Not too bad 😉👍🏻
This was the most difficult and dangerous method of achieving the end result.
Sounds like you know a great deal about wood turning Ralph.. do you care to share your experience based knowledge of safer practices and more efficient working methods?
Awesome Jack, a very elegant piece of work. Lovely grain and spalting. Approaching those corners I would have bitten my fingernails that low also lol. What kind of wood is that? Appreciate the content as always. Top respect from the South East
Cheers Matt. Much appreciated man. 👍🏻😉
Why not recycle the shavings with resin to make a new creation?
I do recycle them.. only I use them to make vegetable 😉
All shavings go to livestock bedding and then ate composted for the veg garden.
I’ve been wanting to try this. Does the wood have to be perfectly square?
Closer to square the better! Easy enough to do with the band saw. 👍🏻😉
Beautiful piece. Now do it in reverse.. 😏
Like turn the bowl back into a cube?
@@JackMackWoodturning precisely 🧐
You’re on
What did you coat this with, linseed oil, sanding sealer?
Danish Oil! 😉👍🏻
What did you use for the finish?
Danish oil James. Thanks for watching 👍🏻😉
