In this video, I am hunting for some beautiful Wisconsin moonstone. This sodium-rich feldspar, anorthoclase, can be found exclusively in Marathon County, Wisconsin, near Wausau. It has an electric blue "moonstone " schiller that is visually stunning. I found this public pay to dig site on Facebook. Simply search for Wisconsin Moonstone. They are opened in the summer. You may call them for reservations on Sundays and Wednesdays. They are also open on some Saturdays for private digs. They charge $35 cash for the first 20 lb of material you collect and an additional $2 for each additional pound. I found all the workers there to be very friendly and extremely helpful. I had a great time and would definitely recommend Wisconsin Moonstone to anyone. Thank you for watching :)
I would send (give) you some if it is reasonable to ship to Costa Rica. It is beautiful material for sure. You would make a great pendant! Thanks for watching, amigo. 🤜🤛
Hey, Jesse! I love this material. I'm glad I could go find some nice chunks. I had a great time looking. I appreciate ya watching, my friend. Have a great weekend 🙂
Great day out there! So much out there for the pickins! Beautiful stuff, love that flash. The blue color is gorgeous, love the variety you got, so much too. I cant wait to see how it turns out with a polish. I know you will do a great job with them!
Hey buddy, it really was a great day out there. Beautiful day. Nice area. Friendly people. Awesome rocks. I'd definitely like to go back. I'll be sure to show you my results on polishing up some of this. Thanks as always for watching, Nic. Take care, my friend 🙂
I really enjoyed watching this one. I have been thinking about going there myself. The price is right, that is for sure ! I though for sure you had over 20 lbs. It has to be hard to judge how much you have in the bucket. I bet you will be busy with them for some time :) Thanks for sharing and taking us along. Have a great rest of your week😊
The price was right, most definitely! It was worth the drive for both the moonstone and the hiking trails. I found more than most, I think. Some of the people there didn't seem to know much about what they were doing. So, I was more than happy to offer up some advice and give out a couple of nice pieces to help. I figured I was close to 20 lbs. But, yeah, it's kinda hard to guess how much you actually have. I brought extra cash just in case. After I was finished hunting moonstone, I drove to a beautiful Ice Age Trail segment. Thanks for watching, Cherry 😊
Hey, Mike! I thought the same when I got there. I was really hoping that when I got home and cleaned it all up , I would see more flash. And I did. Hahaha, and I gave away two of the nicer pieces I found already. Thank you for watching, my friend. Have a great day! 😁
Yay! It makes me happy to hear the affordable price to dig there, like how old school "just for the love of rocks" people do. You found some great flash Shawn!
Hiya, Jemmy! I was talking to Aaron, the fellow running the site and that's why he opened that site was purely for the love and joy of digging for rocks. Also because there aren't any other places around where people can pay to dig. They supplied coffee, donuts, chips, water, and sodas. Not to mention tools you could rent out free of charge. There was a donation jar that I was more than happy to stuff some cash in. I may go back next year. Thanks for watching, and have an awesome week! 😊
Hiya, Muh! I am probably going to cut and polish some this weekend. I injured my leg hiking yesterday and won't be doing much of anything until it heals up. I'm hoping I can get some nice pieces to give away for people to make jewelry or do whatever with 😊 thanks for watching and have an awesome day!!
Hello Joseph and Rosie! The electric blue 💙 is awesome! I hope you two get a chance to go there one day. I am glad you enjoyed my video. Thank you very much for watching and leaving a comment 🙂 Take care and have a great day!
Hi Bead Pie! The moonstone from there really is very pretty. I had a ton of fun. The electric blue flash is so mesmerizing and exciting to find. Thanks much for watching. Have a wonderful day 😊
Oh, I will definitely be on google maps looking for potential rockhounding areas. We'll find some neat stuff....hahaha even if we have to go to a rock shop. Thanks for watching, Dani. Have a great night 😊
Ok Shawn this was so cool. The electric blue flash on these🤤🤤. I loved everything about this share. Im learning so much. I CANNOT WAIT to see what you do with these bruv❤️💯🤘🏼
Hello, Marni! I was hoping you'd enjoy this video 🤗. I don't get many opportunities to make videos like these, so I'm glad it turned out well. I definitely would like to go back. You know you will get first glimpse at what I do with these 🫶 Thanks for watching 😊
Howdy, John! I was worried I might not even find anything. I'm so happy I found enough for myself and some to share. Hopefully, I can get some polished soon. I appreciate you watching, my friend. Have an awesome day! 😁
Hey, Jeff! There's not many places in Wisconsin to go serious rockhounding. But, that is a great spot with some nice flashy material. I appreciate ua watching, bud. Have an awesome day!
Hey, Wil. It was pretty easy hunting. There were people digging holes. But I found plenty of material close to the surface. I'll have to send you some to tumble. Thanks for watching, my friend 🙂
Now that looked like a fun spot. Gotta see you work your magic on them now. Saw some good flash in a lot of those. Seems like a good price too. Rock on!
Hi Charlie n Liz! It was a great spot. Way better than me wandering around Marathon County, hoping to find some on my own. They all did a fantastic job making sure everyone had a good time. I will be sure to show the results of me tumbling and polishing some of these pieces. Thanks for watching 😊 Fart on!
I've never seen raw moonstone. They sparkle when wet. I like the logic of a public excavation site. Thanks for the nice video. I think you will make great cabs.
Looks like a nice haul! I googled it and it’s about 3 hours from me, now I just need a vehicle 😂 Looks fun and dirty. I am still just a big kid at heart so I would enjoy it! I like moonstone as much as any of the labradorite siblings. Thanks so much for sharing ❤❤❤
Cheryl, if you get a ride and want to meet up there, let me know! It was 3 hours for me, too. I'm planning on going back next year. Just in case, I do have some to share 😊 Thank you for watching. Have a fantastic week, my friend.
Very cool man. Seems like a great deal. Looks like labradorite buddy, very nice. So, are you able to polish it? I know feldspars can be tricky, even Oregon sunstone ^^ Great vid m8, cheers
Hey, Andrew! It is able to be polished. I have tumbled similar moonstone before. Labradorite is definitely tricky, and this is like Labradorites cousin. I will try tumbling some and using my flat lap. I was hoping you would like this video 🙂 Thanks for watching, bro! Will chat soon. Take care 🤜🤛

The moonstone didn't appear to be very good at first, but when you got it home and cleaned it up, it looked awesome!
