We wanted to put assumptions to the test to see what we're missing out on because we're so busy assuming we already "know" a person. Join us as we discover why you should never judge a book by it’s cover in our series 'Tell My Story, Blind Date.'
We are all conditioned with certain biases. In this experiment, we challenged these biases by asking people to guess their partner's interests and past experiences based only on their partner's appearance. When they learned their partner's real answers, they were shocked by how wrong they were.

He is more sophisticated and open-minded; she hasn't even heard of Bhangra! One of my closest friends is a Sikh man from north India as well and I must say, he is one of the sweetest, most selfless people on the world. Would drop everything and do anything for people, even people he hardly knows. He says he was raised that way. Sikh people are so wonderful to have in your life in any sort of way, this girl missed out big time.

I think this is true just for the fact that in the movie ''Hotel Mumbai'', the protagonist was Sikh and he had all the characteristics you mentioned. He was an amazing person and he explained in the movie that the dastar was a symbol of great honor.

My husband is Sikh. He was raised in India as so and practised along with his family.
He is not baptized therefore he doesn't wear a turban and cuts his hair.
The only physical part of him that shows he is a Sikh is his Kara which is a steel bracelet which constantly reminds the Sikh disciple to do God's work, a constant reminder of the Sikh's mission on this earth and that he or she must carry out righteous and true deeds and actions, keeping with the advice given by the Guru. The Kara is a symbol of unbreakable attachment and commitment to God.
So just because he doesn't physically look like a baptized Sikh doesn't mean he isn't a Sikh.
We go to the gurdwara every Sunday as well.
Just because a Christian doesn't wear a cross necklace to let you know they're Christian doesn't mean they aren't Christian.

Hey, watching this video, I felt that Amandeep misinformed people about the Sikh belief on what happens after death. I am also Sikh myself and I feel I must correct what he said in the video just so people have the correct information.
Sikhs believe that the spirit inside of every living being on Earth is the light of God, and we all have a 'piece' so to say of God inside of us, the breath of life.
In Sikhism we believe that your aim in life is to become 'one' with God. Provided you live following the teachings of the religion and do your good deeds so to say as a human being, you will go to 'Heaven' and become united with God.
However, if you do commit a lot of 'sin' in your life and don't take action to repent on this, you will fall into the cycle of reincarnation, a constant cycle of birth and death. We believe there are 8.4 million different lives (animals, plants etc.) you must go through to attain this one chance as a human to become one with God.
It's the same thing an atheist believes, just put in pretty language that appeals to spiritual types. All he's saying is that there is no afterlife and the decomposition of his body will feed life which is a no brainier unless you bury yourself in a titanium crate, never to be disturbed for 10 million years.

Your statement is very ignorant and unrealistic. Just seeing him many would guess middle eastern, hearing him many would guess indian. This is just reality. When you hear a southern accent and they ask "where do you think i'm from" many would guess texas when in reality he could be from Maryland since they both have the same accent, it would be nearly impossible to know the difference. Indian and Pakistan is the same case, it is impossible for us to be mind readers and know what their culture or background is. Simply impossible. I look german and often get assumed as german when I am half native american and half french. We all, yes even you, make snap judgments every single day about people. As simple as saying "yes sir" to someone who could actually be female. This entire video is about making a snap quick judgment to see if they answered it correctly. Lastly, he just said he thought she was from Kansas because of her hair and her eyes, he made "stereotypical" judgment about where she was from based on her appearance. So what makes her ignorant for making a judgment about his scarf or appearance as well? You just stereotyped white men as abusive, we ALL make generalizations and we ALL stereotype. So get down from your high horse and realize you are also part of the problem just as we all are. We are all human, we are all flawed, we will never ever be perfect. Stereotypes will never go away, judgments will never go away, we will never be colorblind, the world will always have good and bad, every person including yourself has good and bad inside of them. If someone mistook me for jewish when I was christian I would never be offended because although I do not subscribe to the jewish religion I still think it is a beautiful practice. Someone guessing your nationality wrong does not make them racist, it makes them a human going by their own experiences and opinions. What's actually racist is for the person to be upset when someone guesses their nationality wrong because they are basically saying "how dare you, I am better than that race how could you ever think I was one of them when I'm actually *insert nationality here*" Also, can you time stamp where she said all brown people are muslim? I believe both of their judgments were completely valid, neither of them were wrong. They were doing what they were asked to do for the video, which is look at each other and make quick judgments about one another to see if they get it correct or not. It's not as deep as you like to portray

There was a kid named Udah ( I think I spelt his name wrong ) we were at a camp and my class was outside looking at the stars and the orange moon and we saw northern lights. Udah took his turban off to fix it and everyone was so amazed of how long his hair was. We were all friends with him and we weren't judging him and we actually thought it was amazing very very amazing. Culture is beautiful in so many ways. You are beautiful!

It's important to date someone who shares your fundamental values. For some people, that's their religious values.
