I had a friend from Pakistan in middle school who was the kindest girl you could ever meet. I was bullied a lot during school and she was my friend no questions asked. Her family was Muslim. If you ever see this comment I love you girl. And congratulations on overcoming it all. ❤️❤️❤️
I grew up in a part of Canada where I was the minority as a white girl amongst an east Indian community. I never ever felt left out or discriminated against. I remember my friends mom having me over and making a feast of all kinds of curries and roti and tikka all kinds of stuff for me to try and they were so excited because it was my first time trying most of it. I remember asking about the pictures on the wall and they explained their gods to me and beliefs. I learned so much living there and was always welcomed to all events and ceremonies. Being Sikh myself I’ve always received stares no matter where I go... I’ve become immune to it really. I’ve only recently gained the courage to wear a turban early this year. The first physical abuse I felt was on the tube in London where I felt someone flick my turban and a group of guys laugh behind me. I felt like a kettle boiling inside but i remained calm, stayed quite and controlled my emotion. For those reading, I just want you to know that the Sikh turban and beard is a unique appearance given by our Guru for people to be able to easily identify a Sikh if ever they are in trouble. We are made to stand out! As a Sikh it my duty to serve and protect humanity, therefore, I will forever wear my crown (turban) proudly. 😊
Dear Singh ji, if it offers you any peace i just want you to know there are a lot of people like me who look at a Sikh and his Turban with huge amount of respect. And i live in Kerala
Not everybody is that ignorant, good sir. I am sorry that you have had to endure such from those that do not know better but be assured that many do know what Sikhism is and what it stands for. Remember the great Ranjit Singh, the tiger of Punjab, he never gave up!
None of the religion promotes to harm others it is the fault of some people who lead people to a different path in the name of god to fulfill their greed
Sadly, this is so relatable. I’m a Sikh, and I get bullied everyday because of my turban. It’s sad...really sad. Edit: Oh my god...thank you to everyone for the support. It blows my mind to see all these amazing people helping me out. I have become a lot more confident with my turban, and now I get bullied a lot less! I even did a presentation to my class about why the turban means so much to me, and it changed the perspective of many people. Once again, I wanna thank everyone for the support. You are all amazing. 😌
