    Top Thrill 2 has had to be closed now for a second time after starting a few test runs on it a week ago.
    But my hope is this is going to be a wake up call for both Cedar Point and Cedar Fair in general.
    Let's discuss all the implications.

    We all seem to forget all the Intamin issues on TTD and other intamin rides... we need to give Zamperla time just as we did with intamin for years

      Wait we need to give zamperla years to be respectable after the previous CEO, dick kinsel, said it was he’s worst decision??????? These intamins put them on the map, but caused them temporary issues……this zamperla, has no idea what’s going on! If it’s faster than normal, just make comically large wheels!!? Dumb! Hire a physics major! It can’t deal with forces! Been testing since December…won’t open till August, if we’re lucky!

Intamin has burned multiple parks and chains with rides with major issues. Maverick, Wicked Twister, I305, Shoot the Rapids, Xcelerator, SkyRush, Kingda Ka ect...Wheel diameter has nothing to do with the issue. Supposedly its the rubber compound on the actual wheels

    CP did the "right thing" in keeping TT2 closed because it was in their financial best interest to do so. To be spared lawsuits if a guest got hurt. Because their insurance company told them to keep it closed or else we're dropping your policy, CP!

    We all knew Cedar Point would crap the bed going with Zamperla. It was a money saving issue…and while I know they had issues with Intamin in the past, it’s been well over a decade since they even worked with them…and a LOT has changed when it comes to reliability. I personally think they should’ve used the original manufacturer to do this redo of Top Thrill.

    You are spot on with your assessment! Was just there for three days in a row, and we renewed me and my family’s season passes. Very disappointing to see them continue to make terrible decisions. It’s a beautiful park, with great landscaping, and incredible views! Been my happy place for more than two decades. I’ve seen it at its best! They….were put on the map, with their aggressive prototypes and think, they are Disney or something and can continue to make these bone headed decisions! Went to six flags great America with my wife and…the ride ops are better, with similar crowds, and only two trains operational! Six flags landscaping, is minimal, cedar fair ride ops are bad, so hopefully they meet in the middle with this merge! I have so many stories of bad operations. I refuse to pay any more fast lanes as well as it feeds into these operations! I care deeply about this park, and the pandemic is no longer valid, for the greed. And the safety in my opinion, isn’t necessarily about you or me being safe as much as it is, they don’t want to pay out anymore on these liabilities because at the end of the day, their reputation and insurance costs are at stake!

    • @marcussorenson3380
      @marcussorenson3380 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      well the reason what the ride ops are bad is all because of iRoc six flags does not use iroc and instead trains their ride ops in hos without any restrictions from the program.

    • @nickkober9590
      @nickkober9590 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@marcussorenson3380 Totally agree 100 percent! But also the fast lane has to scan their wristbands at merge points, and it doesn’t always work so great, and that also slows it down quite a bit, but the issue with me is that, it’s not because they care about your safety necessarily, it greatly reduces their insurance costs, which I think we can agree, they’ve payed a pretty penny for liabilities! Also maverick had a two hour line and the train ops were moving faster than the line attendant because people have to scan these microscopic QR codes and they were sending out half full trains! It was ridiculous!

    I think the point is "Zamperla lacked the experience to revise a standout ride." I mean, even if a Wild Mouse isn't even reliable, GEEZ.

    I’m more annoyed to know that the track work was completed by the end of 2023, zamperla has been testing the attraction for months before the park opened, more than likely cedar point pushed for the coaster to be open on opening day saving them from the embarrassment of delaying it because of this problem, which was more than likely already showing itself during the hundreds of test cycles TT2 had to do to be certified to open to the public

    See, as a past amusement park professional and still enthusiast. I'm on CPs side with this...
    Think about it, CP is known for taking chances. Look at how many projects in the past were either a prototype or a record breaker. Whith that, comes risk. Just focusing on Intamin, if CP didn't take risks we wouldn't have Millennium, Dragster, Maverick... And hell, we wouldn't have any of that because Wilderness Run/Gemini Jr as Intamins FIRST coaster ever.
    Then, the TTD incident... How would it look using that same manufacturer from a PR perspective. It shows the media and GP, that they took steps to look at new options to elevate the experience while focusing on safety.
    CP took a historically proven CP risk in trying a new concept. I believe this was the right move from a business perspective. Zamperla, yes a risk. BUT if CP never trusted Intamin, CP wouldn't be CP.

    Wheel assemblies / cracked wheels shouldn’t be an issue these days. 120mph isn’t new, the layout is simple, zamperla must have thought they could recreate the wheel assemblies with cheaper / smaller design.

      120 MPH may not be new but that speed is rare. There have only been 5 roller coasters ever created that have gone over 100 MPH. Superman Escape from Krypton, Top Thrill, Kingda Ka, Red Force, and Formula Rosa. So while not new, it is uncommon.

    In reality, Intamin people were heavily involved with TT2. Yeah Zamperla did TT2 but the people are what matters. Many of the people at Zamperla came over from intamin and have worked on the largest rides in the world. So if they jack up stuff, it’s not because they don’t have experience. The people at Zamperla have totally jacked up the biggest rides in the world including the original dragster (yes even some people who worked the original TTD work for Zamperla now).
    The ride quality over long term is what is most important and Zamperla nailed it. They will fix the issues with wheels cracking(allegedly) and TT2 will be great for many years. In the end this ride is likely a major win for Zamperla and CP

    Cedar Point didn't create Intamin. Six Flags did with their 3 hyper coaster deal. Cedar Point certainly elevated them but they built Superman at Darien Lake before doing anything at Cedar Point, and they had done Millie and Xcelerator before doing rifldes like Dragster. Zamperla essentially went from early 90s Intamin to doing Dragster (literally). It was too big of a step.

Why does CedarFair not use Intamin anymore????? The history shows Intamin had major issues. At this point Zamperla and CedarFair are trying to make things right long term. Are things optimal? No but, it’s very early in the Zamperla/CedarFair relationship to go on such a rant. Breathe things will be ok.
