Yeah figured I go at it a different angle and do 1-24, will keep me busy especially with other things mixed in.

My nephew hasn't experienced the canteen thing. They have camel backs now for hydration.
Did the same thing when i was in basic back in 2009.

To anyone who doesn't know what that really means: If you are over forty and awake without something that hurts, don't worry anymore, you're already dead.
Anyway, this heating element got my attention! And the MRE itself is just cool. Nice review! :) I'm happy you are doing regular reviews again!
LOL so true before I turned 40 was superman after OMG every thing went down hill 🤣 I found a knife works great on those seals
@@funyunmaker3182 One of my pals always said this back then. And I always laughed about it. Three days after turning 40 I started to develop issues with my back. And by now, nearly ten years later, I stopped worrying about the next bad news I get from medical check ups.
And I´m in the lucky position that I´m still in a very very good condition.
The only changes I've seen in the 2019 version are:
Oatmeal Cookie instead of a Chocolate Chip one
2 extra gums in the accessory pack
I still think they should include some sugar with it, but a very filling meal in general!

I've always found that the colder the water, the worse those drinks mix. Oh, and Tajin seems to sprinkle at two speeds: hardly any and PHLUMPF!
I recently found the majic that is Tajin and it works reallly well on watermelon and cucumbers Have you have that ?

That fruit punch. It sticks to your spoon. It's grainy. It gets everywhere. (Can a lady get a woot woot for a Star Wars joke?)
That stuff is horrid, even new!
@@tararenemartin I agree just had some new 2019 packs and that stuff is hard to dissolve, leaves a weird red foam on top of the drink and stains everything, plus it dosent even taste that great.,

No sugar? Not very good if you're very allergic to artificial sweeteners. And I'm 55, and understand completely about arthritic hands and unhelpful packaging. Great video, sir.
Oh man! I got the oatmeal cookie in my #2 MRE.
This is one of my favorite ones. Just took inventory of my MREs and I have a few of these. I learned that if I’m not feeling all that good. I’ll eat one of these or just simply a snack bread and cheese spread.
I tell you what, we need some more bbq menu's going on in the mres, I always been okay with this one. Thanks for sharing gundog!
I love the heating of the cheese and i love the beans and shreded beef and bbq sauce and the choco chip cookie.
Those FRH heaters may even have enough power for a frozen MRE, like you would get if you stored it in your car in the winter, at least up here in Canada. Do you know if anybody has tried it? Looks like a pretty good meal. Thank you for the great review, Gundog

This is a pretty good menu. I think I would like it better if the meat was not processed to oblivion though.

LOL... yeah it was totally ruined hey? Some little chunks in it would probably give it some more character and taste. Looks like Gundog thoroughly enjoyed it though.
You should try using just a little bit of hot water to dissolve the beverage powder and once it's dissolved then add cold water
I ordinarily do that with Russian rations to help those large sugar bits to dissolve. I think I just don't like these very much so I don't waste the effort. Cheers G Man!

Just finished eating one and realized I should've heated the cheese and tortillas, I got a random pack of 4 and this was the one I wanted to try the most. Actually tasted great.

That place has definitely changed. Been to Riverdale a ton when I was at Ft. Meade UM was such a target rich environment in the late 80's.

Just had this a few minutes ago. After having the menu 23 (pizza) that smelled a little off, this one blew my mind. No clean way to eat this, so make a mess and enjoy.

This is one of my personal favorites for a mre, actually had one today lol, I had a 2019 because I had a oatmeal cookie instead of chocolate chip, I love the jalapeño cheese spread, liquid gold, but awesome video!!!

I have Fibromyalgia and yeah those peelable seals are not so peelable anymore. And again it comes with splenda so no matches for you. Have you tried actually cooking something with those elements? I would love to see if it works. Looks interesting, I couldn't eat it because of the jalapenos but looks good. THanks for the great review.
Kahlest Enoch I was diagnosed with fibro a few months ago, life is hell as they try to find the right meds for me. Any suggestions/advice ect for a recently diagnosed guy?
@@BenQuigley Hi Ben, All I can really say is most meds have not worked for me but that isn't to say they won't work for you. Leave cheese out of heater, it won’t separate then. Just add hot ingredients on top when serving if I want cheese warmed
I wanted it to happen, I wanted those oils to mix with all the other stuff. Think of a nice homemade mac and cheese coming out of the oven and those oils on top bubbling away.....it's just so YUM

The Peelable Seal: When you are certain on opening it, it will work. When you DGAF, it won't either.

It's kind of a loaded question. Depends if you want a single meal, a case, or pick your own menus in a case.

Yeah, cayenne pepper to the rescue which is why you should always have you own spices in the field. I even used to have my own booze HAHA
I heated MRE cheese plenty of times and never seen it come out like that?
Is it a new formula or something it looks like it seperated pretty badly.
It's just the oils. Crazy how much oil is in most commercial cheese.

gundog, After being out since ‘10 after a 12yr stent. Some of the new menus are not too bad, but the drink mixes taste gross. The pizza was a pretty good 1 of the new additions. Nacho cheese spread and the maple sausage patty are my favorites. Miss the green Skittles WTH

Saludos en la tormenta María a los Puertorriqueño nos trajeron cajas de MRE del 2018 y en mi opinión del 1al 12 que fue la caja que nos toco la comida era muy buena incluyendo la que demuestras en el video los ravioli con carne muy buenos ,en el procesó que pasamo las primera semanas esas comida nos ayudaron mucho y son sabrosa ,digo yo las del 2018 son buenas .

I'm sure someone makes low sodium shredded beef but not the military and most long term storage foods have ton of salt, preservatives, additives and all just to make it last several years. Nothing better than fresh BBQ any day

I call this menu beans in seasoned salt and beef shredded in salt.
Did i mention that this menu is salty to a point of being entirely inedible?
But not to fear. The accessory package contains salt.
Don't fret gundog, I got arthritis and carprel tunnel both arms. Understand bags pain in the tuckess. BBQ looks great, be nice if they would traded beef for pork now we're talking BBQ. For the drink, little hot water first then cold might help.
The only suitable beverage for barbecue is Beer or Tea. Period.
Said that thirt years ago already: we need beer in our EPAs!

Tracy Philips was really nice and sent me some MREs even thought I am just a fan of you review guys and not a video maker but I do try to like and comment on as many reviews as I can. ANYWAY I was going to say one of the MREs have that tropical fruit drink and I just couldn't do it. LOL The taste was like slimy fruit

Why in the heck would they put something in a ration that can guarantee an extremely violent and explosive outbreak of the shits in many! I mean the Splenda, that stuff is unsafe. And I am far from the only one with a problem with the evil Splenda.
My guess is they bought a million units when it was brand new and they are going to use them until they run out.

I appreciate the effort with the food though. The old 12 brown bag menus I got stuck with got old real fast. I remember when I was new all the older guys telling me how easy we had it in the 80's HAHA, Guess things will never change in that respect. Cheers!
