- Used on training missions, this French single meal MRE has a menu featuring gourmet foods like Duck confit with sausage & white beans, decadent pate, and a vanilla pudding with Madagascar vanilla bean. Probably one of the most gourmet and utmost of quality single meal rations.

Steve, I play your videos for my residents. I work at a senior home. A large percentage of the seniors are vets or wives of veterans. We all find what you do very interesting. It hits close to home for a lot of them. Thank you for continuing to make people smile. Much love from Pennsylvania.
Finally! Another Pennsylvanian ! Let’s go eagles!
Nobody knows how they started watching these videos but all are glad they stayed
Yup I watch them all now
i do
Makes me crave MRE ironically
I swear I started with the 80s south African 24 hour and been watching since!😂
huh... how DID i start watching these???
As a Frenchman I can't tell you how much I enjoy see you trying our delicacies.

These "Jelly bars" are really popular in France,we call them "pâtes de fruits" = "fruits paste" they are arround most of the time but especially at Christmas where you can find medium boxes of these, with all kinds of flavors, strawberry, orange, pear, apple, lemon etc, nothing else but good fruits and sugar. My childhood in a nutshell !
A noel ont en avais a la cantine.. ont vieillis !

My wife is french, and since 2 yrs i've moved here. I can say that the food is just at another level and the beer, just perfect. Try some food from the North or Alsace-Lorraine, and you will enjoy every second of your life.Or how we say in Romania: the best legume is the pork.
The original OG MRE guru Steve1989 good to see you back!
Nice
Let's put this on a tray.
The original original gangster? Ok...
yeah unlike that certain other guy who does it passionately.
The vanilla pudding is a mont blanc dessert. It's an old brand, widely available in France and still popular to this day.
wow I'm a little sad at the spoon tap edit on the coffee.
Haha me too I was really waiting for it
Buny 31 me too!!! I’m glad I’m not the only one who felt this way lmao

Same #ripspoontap
I agree!!!
A good combatant is a combatant that eats well ! My father that made his service in french alp troops, 27eme Bataillon de Chasseurs Alpins, had super rations with local products, including super-rich food. You burn a lot of calories at this altitude and with all the effort made just by climbing it... You need some rich melted cheese, cream mont blanc (like the one on the video, its a cream with vanilla taste, exists at your local supermarket...).
Everything is thought to make you efficient during tough situations.
OH YOU BEAUTIFUL SUMBITCH THANK YOU FOR GRACING US TODAY
I was in the U.S. Army from 1989 to 2010. I feel ripped off. The MRE's in Desert Storm were food but just barely.
Tbf France has a lot less soldier to feed so they prolly can offered to give em duck and other expensive shit
@@heatea5255 Those aren't particularly expensive in France. Just basic industrial canned food.

Dylan Hagen well said!!!! May we dispose of the useless non grammar millennials at once!
Jose Delira bruh
"Lit" in French means "bed".
The recipe with beans and saussage is from Toulouse, a city in the south of France. A traditional recipe from there.
Lol he said "it's probably Toulouse sausage" in the video
@@johnr797 Yes, just a precision, it is and they have a good reputation of quality sausage in France.
That looked so good!
Instead of taking my wife out for dinner, I’m going to buy a pair of these French rations.
Man it's really good

Avoid the tartiflette menu. Greasy and cheesy.
Light one of those ration heater tablets and you will have a fine French meal by "candlelight ".Perfect for your anniversary..😅😅
Honestly if you cooked everything and plated it all nicely she'd probably think it was just fine!

@@sebastiaaaaa2 FUNNY ... JOKE?
Me: Oh cool a can of gray gelatinous meat stuff... yum?
Steve: Oh my look at that marbling, it’s so gourmet.
Try the grey stuff, it’s delicious
The gelatin is just colagen from some bones, the worst thing that can do to you is making your skin smoother.
Paté is not very appetizing as is but if you put it on bread it's delicious. Kind of like a cheap version of foie gras.
It's just how it's supposed to be and it's good. In France we eat it like that : baguette and paté or terrine and red wine, you can't have anything better than that, you can add some good french cheese if you want too.
Necramonium
Nice!
This is the first of these ration videos where my mouth started to water.
Getting a pate with MOREL MUSHROOMS, along side a duck and sausage entree. So luxurious for a ration.

"Kay, so, right off the bat..."
Oh yeah, that's the way to do it
Having that main entree heating up on the side is so satisfying I hear a sweet song in my head everytime I look over to the entree
I wondered if they had cassoulet. One of the best French dishes in existence. Good to know they do.
I am STUPIDLY late this video, but I know the reason the French have one of, if not THE best MREs out there.
In France, their culture is highly envious and highly centered around food. Hell, at MINIMUM, kids in school will get an entire hour to LEAVE SCHOOL if they want, go home and eat an actual lunch. People who work aren’t expected to do anything, literally anything at all, besides eat during their lunch breaks.
The French have such a high respect for food that they literally could not care less if you’re on the front lines, you’re getting a gourmet meal of extremely good proportions.
C’est très excellent!
One Steve a day keeps your bad thoughts away !
My hunger
Always such a treat to see a new upload from Steve
You can be stressed as fuck, then listen to one of Steve's videos and all is good with the world.
Nice!
Well, that absolutely nukes our TOTM training meal in every way except maybe bulk. Thanks, Steve!
You got that right Rocky. The only other thing I'd say the MRE (or TOTM) has over this RIER is they are easier to prep and eat than this and a tad bit more portable. But this meal would probably be just fine cold. Thank you for checking this one out!
I found three items on his shelf from "Back to the future II". Almanac, licence plate and figure of Max Headroom (maybe) xD
I don't know why I can't stop whaching these videos
I've never seen a video of a French MRE before, but I KNEW that it would have Ardennes paté lol
That's why it's called 'Forest Paté' BTW. The Ardennes is a forest.
Ardennes paté's main ingredients are pork meat, pork liver, with herbs and spices (and sometimes mushrooms)
It also had me floored that they had morel mushrooms in the paté for MREs. The French really care about their food!
Recently, I had my 4Runner robbed. They got my backpack with my emergency food in it. I’ve always just had some American MREs just in case, but this video inspired me to buy some French MREs instead to replace the lost ones. Holy shit guys. It’s the difference between food and caloric cardboard. This shit is literally just good eating. Try it and you’ll understand!
Wow. The French know how to do rations right! Thanks for sharing.
Steve is the reason they invented app notifications
You know those French folk, they do eat well, and again as always THANK YOU
Steve, we've missed you brother. Yet again another top flight MRE review.
Thank you for the cool videos you bring us, Steve.
Everything in this ration looked freakin' delicious! The French have real top notch rations... wow

The French MREs always sound delicious!
I am just fascinated with these videos! Your voice is calming and the way u describe the food makes me almost be able to taste it. Awesome job and i have been binging your videos for 3 days now
No spoon music for the coffe?
It's the bubbling food's turn.
RIER is a training ration, not a combat ration. E for "Exercice" that means training
Mont blanc pudding is easely found in stores ^^
Wheat snack bread with jalapeno cheese spread will always be my favorite MRE food.
I ate MRE during my first year at university (my father was in the army and obtained some for me), I miss those days. French MRE are really good, it may be even better than what we can get at a supermarket
All this guy needs is a mre and he's the happiest guy in the word
You need to be on the food network...love your channel
You could put "French" on a random mixture of items from various MRE's, items that would not betray their origins and Steve would gush and get giddy over this prank MRE without a doubt. I've never heard him use so many big words before.
The pudding looks like what our custard looks like, it's amazing on top of apple pie, or any kind of pie.
I had the Cassoulet in the 24hr. It was ALL of just incredible quality and delicious!
No one does MRE reviews like Steve.
Those little stoves are cool. I like when you use them to do the cooking.
Next time stir some pudding into the coffee! A spoonful would prob give you a nice sweet latte!!!
My dude sounds like Mr Van Dreesen from Beavis and Butthead. The hippie teacher from the show. I love dudes videos and content.
Did he say morel mushrooms? Those go for at LEAST $30/lb where Im from. Man, the French know how to eat.
On this episode watch Steve eat Cat food
The French know how to eat.
That's true ;)
Bring back the sounds of you eating the food!
That pork liver stuff in a can literally looks like my cat's food.
It's basically the same thing but the taste is totally different :)
Find someone who loves you as much as Steve loves liver pate
You look like reveiwbraws cool older brother
I love a good RIER. I see someone with a good RIER and my mouth starts watering. There are a lot of different kinds of RIER. I like some peoples RIER’s better then others, but honestly, all RIER’s are created equal. RIER
He's BACK!!!!! Excellent presentation!!!
Figures that the French would use COTS foods for their troops. If it is not broken, do not fix it.
I would of tried to make a hot chocolate with that bar and vanilla pud 🤷♂️
You are a mad man. During the apocalypse, I want you as my chef
😂
It would be way cool if for comparison Steve had an original Napoleon-era ration-in-a-wine-bottle to show how far the French have advanced since they started making military rations.
Hey Steve, I got a French 24 hour MRE today and I am going to try it. I got it from MRE mountain!!!
Great video Steve. I've been missing your reviews.
Damn. When did Steve start reviewing gourmet restaurants?
Love your videos…..one suggestion……add a clip on mic when you’re standing and eating.
Leave it to the French to eat well on FTXes and in the field. Vive la France!
Glad you're alive
I live for these videos now.
Nice!
Cassoulet normally has a slight gamey flavor. I'm impressed the French were able to capture that. I'd call that "pudding" custard.
Steve to his wife "Let's get you on a tray... NICE!"
I trained with the French Army in 84. They had little bottles of wine in there ration packs. Good times.
I told my friends I have a date with an attractive girl. They told me she was imaginary. Jokes on them because they are too.
Resident Evil I like this.
Lucky of you, the Campagne biscuit are not the "cursed" one
Imagine getting a Dinner Invite to Steve’s Place! Forget Plates and Silverware, just *Get It Onto A Tray*
You're better then a chef serious profession. Your description
I love the way the ration box was organized
Steve should do lessons for the military on how to eat rations efficiently with the best taste and flavor possible

Nice!
PurpleZebra let’s get that out onto a tray!
Of course the french eat well even in the trenches.
I guess they need something to do before they raise the white flag.. 😁✌
Their standard for passable food is much higher than us Americans'. It's a blessing and a curse, right?
Lobster Johnson what’s the blessing part?
And the Italian MREs come with wine
@@jdisdetermined ouch.😅😅😅😅😅
The vanilla “pudding” is literally something you can by in a classic French supermarket, I didn’t know it was also given to soldiers! I currently have some of them in my fridge haha
the paté and cassoulet too, the cassoulet is packaged differently though.
The biscuits are harder to find, probably possible through mail order.
If you go in some civilian "déstockage" market, you will find A LOT of these components of MRE.
haha nice
It's just custard, no?
These "pudding" comes as a dessert in almost every Polish Squad Rations, quite tasty, especially caramel one
I literally have no idea how I got interested in these videos.
Lol same!
Welcome.
It's really calming to say the least. My anxiety in non existent while watching!
Things I never thought I'd say.... "I simply refuse to watch any of the other MRE videos from any source other than SteveMRE".
Same, ive no interest in anything army related but i do enjoy these videos very much 😁😁
Fun Fact: Cassoulet is the unofficial dish of the French Foreign Legion. They have a retired veterans facility and museum of the FFL in the south of France (Aubagne) where they make wine and jars of Cassoulet which you can buy. Tasty as hell and it supports veterans!
Also nice that veterans who can't adapt back have a place
I now have to go to southern france...
@@murphy7801 As an American who loves our military; i love that

That is because the “home” of cassoulet is Castlenaudary, which is also the home of the Legion’s training regiment, the 4th RE.
