Bench Testing AC Compressor (Clutch Engagement)

Though this may not apply to all vehicles as it verys from vehicle to vehicle. I purchased a used AC compressor from the junkyard and wanted to verify the clutch engages before starting tear down on the vehicle. The AC compressor shows that it does engage and having validated that it works gives me peace of mind to go forward with tear down and re installation of this part. Having purchased many used parts from the boneyard, I have learned to never trust that it works right off the car and that you want to always bench test before installing to know and reduce the amount of faults to happen. This idea doesn't just work with AC compressors, but with all parts. Now there are some that you cannot do this for, but for most it aids in the repair from having to tear apart your car to find out the part does not work or does not fit.
