SW has always been my favorite, and I've never gotten chance to play there. Thanks for rekindling an old flame! Great video!
Thank-you 🙂
Great work thank you. This is one of those settings I have on my shelf but never went deep on it. Thank you for this a very pleasant listen.
Thank-you :) I'm glad you liked it!
Members of our game crew visited the HERO games table @ Origins 1985. We purchased the Fantasy Hero RPG book and met the author. This game is a delight. Highly recommended.
I am so mixed over HERO. Love Champions, enjoy Fantasy Hero. Find the full-on bulletproof HERO System completely confounding!
Mr. Willy Muffin...
Thank you sir, for covering ICE's Shadow World.
I have for decades & still do advocate & maintain: SHADOW WORLD is THE BEST COMPREHENSIVE fantasy ttrpg setting: EVER.
Wellllll... it's up there - but I haven't reached Glorantha yet 😉
Shadow World is certainly objectively one of the best. Whether it's the best - that's subjective. If it's the best in your view - absolutely fab by me 🙂
@@WillyMuffinUK 👍...re Glorantha which does have its charms...between the two (for me) Shadow World Every Time. That said...LOTS of Species Goodness to mine in Glorantha Setting 👍👍👍
@@WillyMuffinUK Shadow World nuance between Evil & Unlife. The Many Factions, The care given to individuals spanning many millenia of history. Etc., etc., etc...
Pertinent, Gameplay Lore, Lore, Lore. Just MAGNIFICENT.
Gets my vote, lve been living for for around 40 years.
@@Viglin123 It certainly deserves more love than it gets. When compiling my notes for this video, I came across far too many forum posts of a "does anyone remember Shadow World?" - dated when Terry was actively pushing works out for it.
We have an odd industry here where quality of product means less than which particular logos you have stamped on a book.
(No. 37 in a series of "no-one needs 5,000,000 new campaign settings per day on Kickstarter for 5E!)
Been loving the vids bro, especially the Top 30 adventure ones.
I may have to dig out another "top" list, in that case!
@@WillyMuffinUK hope so!
Fantastic stuff. I've got a couple of new players and have been dreading their introduction, how could I bring them up to speed without taking the whole session. Thank you for this detailed overview, the timing was perfect
Glad to be of accidentally-timed service! 🙂
Hi!
Which edition of Master Atlas do you recommend, regardless of the RM system?
My heart would say the 1st edition box, my head says 4th - it's just an easier reference work. 1st just "feels" nicer, but is missing a chunk of info that got folded in to later editions from various expansions.
@@WillyMuffinUK Thanks for the quick reply!
@@agrorocker No problem - hope it helps!
Monte C(r)ook liked it so much that he based Numenera on it, haha.
No idea about that - I'm not familiar with Numenera. Given his involvement with ICE, it wouldn't be surprising if there wasn't some influence there.
