Don't think any show can come close too it these days. Sad that the era, is long past. Iconic storyline, themes, instrumentals, characters and so much more. Legendary. You were certainly right to add Shadow In The Dark, but how are these NOT on the list?! Little Miss Dangerous The Good Collar Calderone's Return: The Hit List
Friday nights at 10:00 PM......everything and just about everybody stopped what they were doing to watch Miami Vice......the clothes, the music, the pastel shades were consuming for everyone......long live Miami Vice......
Definitely Miami was definitely one of the best for sure. The 'Cry' sequence is still one of the best that's graced TV in all of TV's history. And they put the song in one of my favorite video games! It's set in fictionalized New York City, but it still has that vibe when you grab a sports car and drive towards the sunset.
I am genuinely curious why Definitely Miami is a fan favorite? I thought the Femme Fatale was incredibly annoying especially since Sonny wanted nothing to do with her. And the plotline was pretty standard compared to other amazing episodes.
@@sumoni The Cry sequence really made it, I think. We get many gems in one scene: a despicable villain shot to death, the lady goes to prison, epic angry stare by Castillo, the song itself, and great cinematography.
@@sumoni Crockett walking the beach to meet Callie, only to have her taken into custody, he doesnt say a word to her, just slips on the shades, and watches her being escorted by Miami PD, then he just turns towards the horizon while "Cry" plays. Its epic.
Yeah I always wondered if it was sound enhanced? Because if you watch episodes of Magnum at the same time zone his 45 sounded so loud even in the distance well I got a 45 and it doesn't really sound like that as a matter of fact not really any pistol sounds like that
My personal favorites are : -Stone's war -Smuggler's blues -Prodigal Son -Deliver us from evil -Evan -Little Miss Dangerous -Brother's keeper -Golden Triangle (Part II) -When Irish Eyes are crying -Like a hurricane
I agree about "Home Invaders." Also, Calderone's Return (parts I and II) are easily two of my absolute favorite episodes of the show. I also love "Smuggler's Blues" and "Prodigal Son." Paul Michael Glaser did an excellent job with the episodes he directed. Thomas Carter did an amazing job directing the pilot "Brother's Keeper," including creating the iconic "In the Air Tonight" scene that wasn't even in the script. The pilot is my #1 because it set the tone for the entire series. I also loved "Rites of Passage" with the introduction of Valerie and the unforgettable use of "I Want to Know What Love Is." That was one of the most powerful uses of music in a scene to me. My other favorite episodes are "Cool Runnings" (introduction to Noogie) and "The Great McCarthy." Seasons 1 and 2 of MV are nearly flawless.
The end of Calderon's Return Part 2, with Tina over the credits, is the best of the whole series. Despite the fact that they recycled the boat trip from Part 1, and flipped the image to make it look like they were going the opposite direction.
The funny thing is, I remember watching Miami Vice when it was originally on, and I can't remember, or think of, a single episode that I didn't think was well done and that I didn't enjoy. The quality control on everything on those shows was just amazing, from the writing, to the acting, to the music, to the entire production. But, if I guess if I had to pick one episode, Glades, was always my favorite. Just the clip of the Crockett and Tubbs rolling across Florida on Hwy 41in the Daytona with "Girls with Guns" by Tommy Shaw was one of the coolest scenes ever.
It was a good episode, with a good story. Saving the grower's daughter was a great way of focusing Crockett idea of his job. "Lady, our job is to BUST people like you." When in fact, Crockett's job was to protect the innocent. If it's by busting dope dealers, then so be it. And if it's by teaming up with them, to save the life of an innocent child, then that's what needs to happen. Like, he'd been busting dealers and suppliers for so long, he needed reminding of WHY he did it, beyond just the job. That said, two guys driving into the Everglades to go fishing, in a Ferrari WAS a tad ridiculous. I'm sure the department could have found a Jeep, or something, to be less conspicuous.
At 4:00 it references Prodigal Son, but the scene which immediately follows is not from Prodigal Son, but rather from Yankee Dollar (season 2 episode 14)
Sorry, but "Death and the Lady" and "Evan" are missing. Together with "Shadow in the Dark" these three episodes are just masterpieces. In these episodes, everything is perfect, including the story and the characters. "Definetely Miami" is outstanding for it´s artwork and setting, but the two stories told in this episode are rather simple. Greetings from Berlin, Germany.
The answer is Michael Mann who tried to recreate a movie from his old series Miami Vice but failed to click with the audience with the miscast of the stars Crockett and Tubbs .

@@visioncreativestudios7191 True, I rarely see anyone rank it. Probably the most underrated episode of Season 1. It's also where we first see Lombard played by Dennis Farina, and a great story, the style, music, epic 80s club scene, what more do you want from an episode of Miami Vice? I guess it's just hard because especially when it comes to the first two seasons, it's ALL amazing.
@@Streetw1s3r I AGREE! as a kid I always loved the opening segment of the show where Crockett and Tubbs have to subdue a larger, stronger opponent. When Evan asks Crockett, "How does it feel to be perfect?" Crockett is obviously puzzled and uncomprehending. Evan, who turned against Orgel due to his own homophobia, sees Sonny as perfect since he did not ostracize Orgel, while ironically Crockett feels guilt for his own imperfection in not taking more decisive action to back Orgel.

Definitely Top Five. I published an article on the use of songs in MV "Picture Book" was top five. Others " Cry" " Brothers in Arms" " We Do What We're Told" " Smugglers Blues" are brilliant in the use of combining music and image
Miami Vice greatest season was it's 2nd season with the tip episodes being Son's & Lovers, Payback, Out where the buses don't run Definately Miami, Back in the World and One way Ticket. This was Miami Vice at the top of it's game. Freeze Vice, Miami.🥴
I didn't care for the guest appearances by non-actors just because they were celebrities during season 2. There were some where the guest appearance was quick and inobtrusive (like Little Richard in "Out Where the Buses Don't Run"), but then there were the episodes where I'd be saying to myself "Maybe if they'd had an actual actor in this part" (e.g., "Phil, the Shill" or the episode with Danny Sullivan).
The only one I'd argue with being on there is Heart Of Darkness, Some of the scenes just didn't work but otherwise a solid list - although I think there's definitely enough good episodes to do a top 20 (sadly thanks to Season 4 and some of season 5 you could probably do a 10 worst episodes as well) and yeah, would have to agree with Out Where The Buses for #1 - just an incredible hour of television
Classic TV drama....like no other. So original. The impact this show had on entertaiinment in how it was produced and filmed. And how it actually managed to turn a dead street (South Beach) into a hot spot. Made Miami what is it today. Good and the bad. Mostly the good. What was funny was seeing guys walking around dressing like Sonny Crocket. :)) Wearing pastels anyhwere but Miami or the tropics.....made them look ridiculous ... There's never been a show like MV. The Sopranos....kind of similar. Would have liked to have seen MV on HBO so they could "go further" like they did in The Sopranos.

And perfectly acted by Fiona. She played that damaged soul better than most experienced actors could.
This is what you want, this is what you get…. Great episode!
Bit disappointed there's no "Evan" or "Little Miss Dangerous" among the top ten
Well done, you got the #1 and #2 exactly right. Out where the Buses Don't Run was the best single episode of any cop show in the history of TV
And this show along with A team, Simon and Simon, Ripetide etc etc shows how real stunts can't be replaced with CGI. Man I miss the 80's

Miami Vice greatest season was it's 2nd season with the tip episodes being Son's & Lovers, Payback, Out where the buses don't run Definately Miami, Back in the World and One way Ticket. This was Miami Vice at the top of it's game. Freeze Vice, Miami.🥴
Tale of the Goat,Trust Fund Pirates,Yankee Dollar.Prodigal Son.I can't argue with your picks either.
That’s your opinion. They got 15 Emmy nominations for Season 1
One Way Ticket is underrated.
Agree with that.. Dire straits 👌
TV GUIDE named it one of the Fifty Greatest Episodes of All- Time.
Bushido, The Great McCarthy and the Fix would be in my top 10.
Bushido? Anyone
Easily in my top 3.
Yes one of my favs
Crocket for President.
Smugglers blues will always be my favorite episode!!!
"Theres gonna be violence, man, I hate violence!!!"
Fantastic list!
Deliver Us From Evil Didn't make the cut?
