Man when I had my D15 hatch I went to the junkyard and found a Z6 cam sitting in some JDM engine.... Got it on the half off sale.... One of the best finds I've had.

My older brother is doing the notched block pg6/stock leng Hbeam with z6 head and I’m doing the p29/stock length Hbeam with ported y8 head… BOTH WITH TURBO!!!! Excited to see what 13:1 and the t3/t4 does!

I have a built vitara y8 with Bad Guys ported oil pump and redline is 7300prm on 22pds of boost. so far no issues, 3 years on the motor. Z6 crank would be nice peace of mind. Good series.

This video prompted me to take a second look at my dohc zc build. I'm running the same rods and pistons, and on my engine, they clear during mock-up even without a headgasket. So thank you. Hopefully, this helps as well.
I have this same setup I did the same speed factory rods and pistons I had to go to a 76mm bore then I had a built head with factory cam and factory intake with a top mount like yours I made 450 at the wheels on e85 had 1000cc injectors just ran out of injector it’s a great build super fun
I used the vitara pistons I wanted to run a different piston but I wasn’t sure if any other piston would fit on that rod so I just ran those they did really well I have the engine apart now cause I think I lifted the head cause the head gasket is toast so I am going to use this time to send it out to get it CSS and go back with a little better rod and piston set up
My favorite d series head combo was a y8 head with the y7 cam and rockers so its a y8 non VTEC. Just swap the end caps on y7 rockers to the y8 and it's a beast with a 272 regrind. That with a y7piston in a z6 equals happy daily driver.
The first for minutes of your videos just covered up a 4 day job I did on my damn 99 d16y8 i heard some loud ass ticking coming from the bottom end and I open up the oil pan and find shavings…..long story short they were connecting rod bearing that were spun 😂💀shit look wild.

Hi, I run that combo a lot, you have to notch the top of the piston for valve clearence, I use a Comp Cam stage 3 and it lights up super fast. Thanks for the contant👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
1.7mm delta between Vitara & PG6 piston compression height, according to ZealAutoWerks. Any problem this might cause could likely be solved with a different head gasket.
Yeah the pg6s with the long rods will stick couple thou out the hole (don't quote me on this) but I'm almost sure I read about this subject on hondatech years back and someone did it with like a 50mm or 60mm head gasket and had minimal P2V clearance but it kept blowing head gaskets if memory serves me right. Again don't quote me on this.
So happy you are doing a D16Z6. I have a 95 Delsol Si and it's bone stock. Don't want to dump too much into it. DISAPPOINTED that you are not doing a stock motor with with all add ons and not cracking the case...
Dammm man is a bout time we get some single jingle love out here im almost finishing mine but I dont know cuss every one telling me is to high of compression im like 12.5 for boost but great content keep up the good work and congras on ur new garage

Congrats on the shop and I agree with basic single slammer turbo setup. But I’ve heard good things about the D16z6 with the Suzuki Vitara internals turbo. Should be interesting to see how yours turns out!
Thought is seemed funny while listening, so I did some quick calculations. If it was PM6 pistons (-3.4cc 29.5mm height) They would yield around 11.7:1 with those long rods. The PG6 (1.5cc 30mm height) would be more like 14.2:1 w/long rods. However PG6 on standard length rod is also about 11.7:1 P.S. Congrats on the shop! If you don’t end up using those Speed Factory rods, I’d love to snag some hah

I plan on doing this same exact bottom end build , now im intrigued , i have a vitara speed factory build, but too much boost bro 😂😂, i love it but the car goes crazy after a while at 32 lbs
im thinking of just using p29 pistons for my next d-series build. What camshaft are you thinking of using for this project? right now ive got a vitara setup with a d15b2 bottom end p2p0 rods and a y7 head I used a small ebay gt28 turbo and its still not as responsive as I would like it to be despite the t25 flange turbo.
You said the eg had d15B. is that the jdm d15b vtec? Because that's what is in my turbo crx, it is the same head as a z6 (code p08). And crank is the same as well to my knowledge. You are doing almost the same build as me.

The MAR Performance single cam Civic went 8.40 @ 158 a couple years ago at World Cup Finals! They can fly!

Standard length rods and pg6 pistons gets you to around 12:1 comp ratio. Much more manageable.

I love single cam builds. I am doing a single cam turbo vw engine. 2.0l . Turbo size is everything for the single cams jingle.

i have a old build on one of my crx track car...A6 head on Z6 block NA, 7300 rpm all day ! 14 season on this combo Z6 block are the best !

That's what I'm running now with 29 pounds of boost from and ebay turbo no regrind thought and ported y8 head

I’ve heard the y8 crank is better because it has 2 oil ports on crank just need to mess with oil pump to crank up pressure
