Another extraordinary performance from the indomitable Yuja Wang! It really cracked me up how the orchestra was struggling to keep up with her breakneck speed in the 3rd movement!! 😂

Exquisite impressionistic playing and for once her dress did not detract from her performance. It was beautiful as was her playing.
This is what I would like to say and recently its the second time I see ms.Wang dressed properly . It cleans up the air for people who really love music and appreciate her as an artist.
I know! The thing that struck me most before even clicking the video was her dress, and I think that she looks truly beautiful in it! Very elegant. ❤️

Hear we go again, whatever she dresses in, it doesn't detract from her performance. Some folks seem obsessed with her dress sense. Leave her alone, she's her own woman. I admire her for" not giving a s..t " about what people think, "I'm the boss". To quote her a few years ago. She looks lovely whatever she wears.

When the time comes, and I am about to leave the shackles of earth, and I am asked what's the last piece of music I would like to hear, it would be the adagio from Ravel's piano concerto. What a sublime way to go. And I hope it is Yuja Wang playing.
This is the piece of music I chose to accompany my father during his funeral...I don’t regret it, whenever I hear it he is by my side, and heaven is close....

Ah, for a moment there I thought they got back together LOL!!!
They were still together when this was recorded (4/10/23). Their relationship was always going to be difficult to sustain:
they are constantly travelling around the world to perform, and they cannot always perform together.

Looks like he still is. Who would care if it wasn't her? Okay, I know that's harsh and an exaggeration. But I wouldn't.
There is a video of Bernstein playing AND conducting this concerto. The recording sound isn’t great, but there is more emotion and real music making than this glitzy performance. Faster is not better.

I didn't like Yuja's playing of the Presto. Too fast, turning it into a joke, instead of delightful, playful music. One of Yuja's failings as a virtuoso pianist.

I think the semi- nakedness is her own idea. Maybe here Klaus was talking her into quitting that business of her unneeded wardrobe-based provocation. It may be an insecurity, I am not sure.
Insecurity in her case means vulgarity and it’s a great sign that she might be parting with this style which is so distractive for her performances.
Sounds to me that just because you CAN play it all that fast, doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD.
Bad performance. Go directly to Duchable or Argerich versions. Yuja is certainly an incredible techician, but so far, I cant quote any amazing version of any major concertos she performed.
