I'll get my SE600j delivered in a few hours. Thinking of performing the same change. Any idea if any 8hole pickguard will work? 8 hole pickguards are very hard to find in my country so I would need to order online. Any recommendations (ideally within EU)?
@@qua7771 it fitted for the most part. there were a couple of holes that were a bit off and the cutaway for the neck pocket had to be sanded a bit, but there's nothing you can't do at home with some very basic tools
These guitars were extremely good value for money when they were new (I'm old, I can remember). It sounds like they've aged well, and more people should know about them. Another informative video with excellent guitar playing, thank you.
Stumble upon this video like 5 minutes ago. First of all - good luck to you and your channel. Back to the point tho. Fujigen factory and the guitars of theirs are the best thing for the buck you've ever can find out there. I'll elaborate. I have a Gibson reissue model. It's menacingly expensive and has outstanding creamy and woody sound. I was searching for that guitar for 7-8 years. So, that's why I buy it. It's like ... My sound for life, everything is perfectly fit for my ears. The amount of every parameter. End of story. BUT... Some other day I just stumbled upon some fujigen Les Paul and it was like a mirror copycat of a sound that I were hunting for years back then. The price was 2200 instead of 3950-4100 of my own Gibson guitar. I never needed another one, so I pass but anyways - the point stands. So... These men out there are doing godlike job on their factory.
Nice presentation of this beautiful guitar. I have a sunburst Fernandes strat from 1974 (bought 650€ in Italy) that has that kind of vibe too. I love its pickups that have a really creamy sound. The only flaw for me is its really thin neck that is a bit tricky for "european hands". Thanks for the video 😀🎸🔊
I really like the pickups and such a good selection of riffs to show how they sound. Body looks more like a 70s but neck and general atmosphere is very 50s indeed. Good work!!
I have a 1977 greco pbass, restored it, even had it refinished w/ 1 more layer of nitro, won’t sell it for anything else, better than all modern fenders that i’ve tried

Im debating wether i should get a Fender Vintera 60s or a Greco SE600/800. I see alot of people talking about these guitars as a better quality guitar than fender themselves. Atleast for the 70s. Would you say its better or atleast as good as a fender?
How do you feel about maple fretboards vs rosewood or similar? I've always found maple too snappy - too much spank in the treble frequencies. On the other hand, I think that aspect adds something really nice when you're using the neck pickup. I just feel like it's too much when someone is on the bridge pickup, which might be why I like HSS strats more than SSS.
Never sell this guitar in your life! Never! The Top of the Line models Greco made from 1978 to 1981 are Legends. If you want a pre CBS Strat or Telecaster or P Bass or Jazz Bass and you don't have the Money for a real Vintage Fender Instrument, take one of the Greco's from this Series. ;)
Actually 3 tones sunburst did not come out until 1963. Plus the bridge is not accurate either, it looks like the 1979/80 poor mono block with no inscriptions. Great guitar indeed but I think it is a copy of a late 70’s.
@@DressedInBlack late 1958 to be precise (my bad) also Fender 1958 had more Black on the contour, your beautiful EG800 has more of a 1974 thin black contour and more sunburst presence (my preference). Thank you
One thing I hate on strats is those sky high, palm shredding saddle screws. To me this guitar had zero warmth. Ultra think spiky pickups. I think a lot of these jap manufacturers from this era are over-rated imho.
Beautiful guitars 😍👍 Thanks for showcasing that beauty 😍
I have a 1978 SE 600 Greco Strat. Excellent instrument. Grecos are the sleeper brand and are high quality instruments.
Nice sounding set of riffs. Going to have to learn some of them.
I have a 1979 Greco SE800J, but converted to traditional Strat switch. Best Stratocaster I’ve owned. Great video 👍

@@jonsnow7092 Greco stratocasters from about 1978 use same measurement as US guitars. Pickguard holes, tremolo holes etc.
@@malcolmhardwick4258 I just ordered a genuine Fender pickguard, the 8-hole anodized aluminum version. hopefully it fitx

Way better than any fender except the real vintage
Hrmmm the pole on the pick ups for the b string is a bit low. Never seen a pick up like that before let alone 3 of them.
Actually, that's how every vintage style single coil is made. More modern ones are radiused to the fretboard.

Very very singular tone this pickup
3 way pick up switch? Shouldn't that be 5 way?
No, this is vintage correct. This guitar is based on a ‘54 Fender Stratocaster, and Strats had 3-position switches back then.
They didn’t actually start making 5 way switches standard until the mid 70s. The “in between” positions were an accidental discovery!
