Most people don't want to get on two wheels on something capable of the speeds these things are without fully knowing that any work done to it is "exactly" how it should be. There are numerous short videos out there but left me quite uneasy about attempting this job myself until I found your video and how you fully explained every step. I really appreciate the time you took to make this and now my forks are rebuilt and I feel confident about the work. Thank you again for that.
Thanks a ton for making this video. I was able to replace the fork seals and dust boots on my '05 ZX10R forks that my local motorcycle repair shop wouldn't touch cause he didn't have the special Kawasaki tools. I saved a ton of money and had the satisfaction of doing it myself.
Wow! I seriously thank you for making this video. I have watched a dozen different videos trying to change seals on a Zx10r and came across yours on the zx6r and luckily they are quite similar and you cleared up a LOT of left out information that I could not find on the other videos I had watched! Thank you so much for making this video and clearing up a lot of gray area for me!
Great video. Cleared up many of the questions I had. Much easier than going by the service manual. Thank you! FYI the correct nut needed to pull the rod up is 10mm x 1.00 pitch. I got a 120mm bolt to attach to it from Fastenal.
Great tutorial!!! The bike is even the same color, which made it go better!!! On a serious note it was very detailed and helpful and when I checked my manual all the specs were accurate, thanks again
Great video! If anyone is ever wondering about the piston rod pulled the bolt is a 6inch 7/16th bolt & rod fine thread pitch. Atleast that worked for me.
Hi, Buddy! Thanks! Helped me a lot! Nearly the same for a 2004 ZX10R. One suggestion: It`s safer you use a vise at the fork bottom! You need have no fear that it slip away. Regards from Germany! Delle
Hey men thanks for the video, I know it has pass years but i use it today, just to let everyone know that is the same processes for a 2006 kawasaki zx10r, feels great, thanks.
Hey, fantastic video! I'm a bit late to see it. I changed my seals on my B1H but now the Damper Cartridge Bolt (the bolt at the bottom end of the fork) keeps spinning when I try to tighten it. Also the new oil is leaking out from that bolt. Any advice would help tremendously. Thank you for the video!
Thanks for the video 📸 good job. My Q is it necessary to take out the bottom Allen bolt in order to pop the fork seal? Having great difficulty with it, both just turn. Dumbass design, imho. ICBF. Can the seals still be popped with it still in?
Thank you, this helped me a lot! I would like to ask, I used the information I learned from this video to change my 05-06 636 fork oil and seals, however the right rebound dampening screw on the top of the fork only turns about 3/4 of a turn before stopping, while the left one turns many times and will actually go down a bit into the fork. I imagine this is a problem, do you know how I can fix it? When I purchased the forks I noticed that one of the forks was much springier/quicker rebound and compression than the other, but I don't know how they were adjusted when I was playing with them. Could this be a related phenomenon? Thanks again.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Do you know the name of the black plastic part at the end of the front fork? I dropped my bike and scratched it pretty bad and can't find the replace part. Thanks!
surprised he didnt make that caliper... by welding together a couple nuts with a ruler on a piece of threaded rod hahahaha but seriously dude. awesome video.
I’m having trouble exposing the nut on 13:50 . I Have the spring compressed and I’m Pulling up pretty hard on the cap but I’m still about a inch or two short of being able to get under the nut with the tool. Feels like something might be holding it back. Don’t want to pull too hard and end up breaking something. Any idea on why I can’t pull it up far enough?
I highly recommend using a fork seal installer tool as well. They are plastic tupperware looking cones that allow you to cover the end of the sharp fork tube and slide the new seals over them with out cutting them. Fork Tubes have a sharp edge at the top and if the smallest nick is made in the new oil seal they will leak. Another good idea is to lube all the new surfaces before putting the seals and Tubes together. You wouldn't want to assemble a motor without break-in lube so why would you do it here? Great video otherwise.
I dont understand. These forks look identical to 2006. Does it have hex bolt on the axle side? If it does simply remove that hex bolt and split them apart. Install both seals and put tube back in. Fill it with 400ml of oil and its done. All the special tool you need is long 8mm hex from harbor freight.
The seals on my yamaha look very very similiar. I have trouble scraping the old seal out(nobody changed it for 16 years) and now i cant get the new one in. Does the socket have to go through the seal or on top of the seal? i tried different size sockets and the only thing i have done is minor damage to the seal. Help?
i just saw a full video on how to take a for apart and change oil seal and for seal. for the oik seal that's inserted inside the fork tube you need apply heat from out side, this way the everything around it will get loose.
+Joe Barbaro dave moss applied heat, or you can apply some bearing grease. or put it in boiling water, let it soften a little, for how long i dont know, like first thing it get a tiny soft
+Joe Barbaro dace moss actually used a special tool made for insert the oil cover back in. it looks like a round cap that is the same size if the oil cover. try to find something looks like that. or even a peice of wood that has the same size and then just hammer down
its pretty much the exact same... you wont have to wonder far from the path, i did the forks on my zxr400 and i used this as a guid, my zxr is from 1991..
What is wrong with kawa.s new fork-seals???? my old 9R ('95) is still as new, never ever change for-seals on it...... my 07 10r started leak when the bike was 5-6 years old.

AKEK 07 Very welcome.

Great video, still after 10 years fully helpfull for my '05 👊✌️
Thanks for sharing this. Just did the forks on my zx636 stunt bike thanks to the video. Saved myself a fortune. Top man.
1 handed fork seal replacement in 28 min, I should be able to knock both sides out in half hour tomorrow w both hands. All info needed, awesome 😎

AKEK 07 Thank you.
Still relevant. Just did a mates forks on a 2005 zx6 by using this video. Top one.
Was there any difference. Have an 06 I may need to do this to.
@@drewfeiock2212 slightly different top nut assembly but very similar. Just take your time and remember to loosen the ratchet straps slowly. 👍
Great video. Cleared up many of the questions I had. Much easier than going by the service manual. Thank you!
FYI the correct nut needed to pull the rod up is 10mm x 1.00 pitch. I got a 120mm bolt to attach to it from Fastenal.
I have referred to this video several times and want to say thank you for putting it out there.
Thank you!
Soooo glad I found this. Every store I been to hasn't had the tools and I'm all about Savin that money
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much for making this video man. Did my forks in a breeze thanks to you
Great tutorial!!! The bike is even the same color, which made it go better!!! On a serious note it was very detailed and helpful and when I checked my manual all the specs were accurate, thanks again

Nearly the same for a 2004 ZX10R.

Delle
just watch your video and i try it myself for the first time. Very easy and simple job
Great job on this video
Thank you.
A lug nut fits inside the front axle pretty well to, I use a lugnut and four way to remove my front tire.
Definitely gonna use this as a guide for my newly acquired ninja.
Hey men thanks for the video, I know it has pass years but i use it today, just to let everyone know that is the same processes for a 2006 kawasaki zx10r, feels great, thanks.
Much appreciated my man. Super clear video, saved me some cash!
thank you. without this step by step video I learned how to dance thu it all. thank you. kawi world
Thanks for the vid. I have the same forks on my 2006' ZX10R. This video helped me out big-time.
Only difference is the 06 zx10r is 111-113 mm oil level height and the rod nut is 11mm
What Sterling Robertson said, they are called fork seal bullets, you can always just use a plastic bag and lube the seal and slide it on
Very well done. Always nice to see this as a refresher, Thanks for the effort of making this video.
Hey, fantastic video! I'm a bit late to see it. I changed my seals on my B1H but now the Damper Cartridge Bolt (the bolt at the bottom end of the fork) keeps spinning when I try to tighten it. Did you see @ 27:30 the "fire extinguisher" on the wall. That's hilarious!
Haha. Hey its the premium model with the pop top too. ;)

Great video! Extremely useful...thanks for taking the time to make it.
Thanks ...saved me from going crazy...who the hell designed these things lol
Also helped with my ZX12R little differences, great help tho. Cheers
Great video I feel comfortable doing this in my garage thank you
Thanks for the video 📸 good job. My Q is it necessary to take out the bottom Allen bolt in order to pop the fork seal? Having great difficulty with it, both just turn. Dumbass design, imho. ICBF. Can the seals still be popped with it still in?

Great video! A star is born!
Great video going to need this!! Can u help with how to remove the bottom cups for re chroming can not find anything on how to do it?!!!
Awesome video do you happen to know the torque specs for the triple clamps? Can’t find the manual or anything online.
Top video thanks gives me the knowledge to tackle my seal replacement 👍
what size was the bolt and nut you used to pull out the rod? The one that doesn't have to be tight
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Do you know the name of the black plastic part at the end of the front fork? I dropped my bike and scratched it pretty bad and can't find the replace part. Thanks!
thanks for the video, this is the same forks thats on the daytona 675 2006

but seriously dude. awesome video.
Would this work on the 05-06 fork ZX636 ??? Good Job by the way...
Jason Rodriguez pop top nut off and pop bottom 8mm hex screw and split it apart. Easy peazy))
Great video ! Thanks ! big LIKE !

hey graeit vidio. lots of help thank you lots for it =)
Very good video. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Now I know I can do it. #savinglotsofmoney
Is there much difference in ZX6R A1P 2002 ?
Awesome
Think thisll work for my 2003 kawasaki vulcan meanstreak?
No clue.
manual says you need to use 5w fork oil,not 10.
And thats why i am redoing min lol stiff af, hopefully 5w softens suspension

By any chance, would this apply for an 05 zx6r? I imagine it would be but I just wanna make sure, looking at changing my fork seals here pretty soon.
I think the forks may be slightly different on the 05-06 models. But the basic process applies.
The Amp Lab Awesome, thanks for the info and great video by the way
Mr. Amp Lab sir what is the size of the big black socket you used for installing the seal? Thanks.
I honestly do not remember. I will see if I can find it.
1998zx6r is leaking..how much would a shop charge?
❤
25:05 If I did not adjust rebound adjuster screw to 13m what can happen? My suspension is stiff.
Would the specs be the same on a 00' zx6r?

How much oil for one lage ??
636 03 04
My motorcycle mechanic said he needs vacuum to replace oil and seals. Can someone explain me why?
I have zx6r 2005

the video was made by Dave Moss Tuning
***** i scraped it out now i cant get the new one in

Would this same procedure work for an 04 Zx10r?
Possibly. Very very similar forks.
Anyone know if the procedure is the same for a 2006 kawasaki z1000? They look very similar.
its pretty much the exact same... you wont have to wonder far from the path, i did the forks on my zxr400 and i used this as a guid, my zxr is from 1991..
what did you use as a jack point?
i didnt use a jack. i used a strap and a winch installed in my attic.
The Amp Lab i see now.. whats the jack under there for? Stability?
yup. and a "just in case" scenario. lol.
Rebound adjusting screw on top doesnt give me 8 clicks to play with. I have 03 zx6r
What is wrong with kawa.s new fork-seals???? my old 9R ('95) is still as new, never ever change for-seals on it......
my 07 10r started leak when the bike was 5-6 years old.
i think you put seals up side down
Youre destroying the seal, you should thread it on the lower leg with a plastic bag and then put the legs together using a seal driver..
200+
Anyone know if this is the same process for a 2006 Z1000?
