If I was wanting fish to eat, turning back a walleye would be difficult! You definitely did catch everything else lol. Hopefully you find the perch soon
What depth do you think that you have to keep fish. I know when I get perch more than 30 they puke up. Are other species the same problem? If we ever get ice here in PA, I will be going to the 30+ basins.
For crappies on this lake in my opinion and experience, I don't release over 24 feet, but that is just me. I prefer not to fish walleye over 30 feet, perch are pretty much the same as crappies. That's my experience, someone else's might be different. If crappie fishing over 24 I catch my limit and switch species
Thanks for the input. I even keep the little dink perch and gills in deep water since they will probably die. I'm not sure if bringing them up slowly makes any difference at all.
@@billthompson4197 I do the same... Keep enough to eat and then move shallower or just be done. I think you would have to go SO slow, that it's not really an option.
Man what an action packed day! Great catches Cody. Lots of good ones 😊🔥👏👏👏
Much appreciated! So much water to cover and so little time
Some very nice fish my friend!!
There's still a few left swimming around!!!
Could you PLEASE do the face reel again...but in slow motion!? That was great!🤣🤣
Lol drastic times drastic measures lol
As I'm drinking coffee watching this, I'm saying out loud, KEEP IT, EAT IT. Glad you kept the crappie. Some day I should come up there and fish.
I think I remember telling you to come on up: 😁😁
@@After5Outdoors yes you did. 4 weeks of vacation now. It could happen.

Hey, I appreciate you watching!! Thank You!!
Sweet walleye to start it off. Nice catches, Cody.
Thanks man!
Pretty good action with some feisty walleye!
Lots of experimentation happening this year
Nice smallmouth and crappie. Probably should have kept the walleye. Happy New Year Cody!
At the very least that walleye will hopefully be involved in the process of creating more!!! Take care my friend!
You have a very talented cheek...😂
Ya like that....I did that to see how many would comment lol

Gloomy day but it was still fun.
I sing the Johnny Cash song often: I haven't seen the sunshine since I don't know when!
Man you really got me itching to get out! you got a nice mix bag of fish there tho!

In my opinion, you shouldn't catch & release most species if fishing in 27'+ of water. Even if they swim off strong, a huge majority will still die.

I've asked the question to a biologist if bringing up slow makes a difference, his opinion was that it doesn't probably make a huge difference
I've always wanted to find a solid ice fishing lake for Jumbo perch. Unfortunately where I live Yellow perch don't make it this far south
they are here, not in super concentrated numbers but you can find some!
Woulda….coulda…..shoulda
I've got plenty of other dinner options do if the fish swim another day, I'm still happy
Yummy smallmouth
😳😳
Where were you fishing?
Ontario side of Lake of the Woods
@@After5Outdoors nice! I’ll be heading out to leech lake Friday! Hopefully they keep biting good!
