    Demonstrated here is the process and technique to adjust your motorcycle controls to fit you as a rider, instead of leaving everything at the factory presets. Shown is how to get the correct angles for the Brake and Clutch lever, along with adjusting the shifter linkage to allow better clearance for your feet.

    thanks for the tips, i just bought a Z400 and have changed the mirrors to bar ends, had to change the grips to make room for the mirrors, and i was able to retain the OEM bar-end weights/vibration dampers. next i will adjust the hand levers as you demonstrate but i am really looking foreword to adjusting the shifter lever, it is way too low and with boots on i cant get my toe under it at all. so thanks again !

    this is a great video which makes me disappointed that you didn't demonstrate changing the rear brake height. I'm about to do it on a Ninja 650L I just bought, because rear brake pedals always seem to be set way too high to use properly. subbed anyway.

    My levers for my bike ( Z650) are just fine, but I will adjust the shifter. I feel I have to do the tuck at times. I'd rather have a more smooth setting. Thanks!!!

    Have you rotated the handlebar on the Z650?
    I did that on my FZ6R and liked it.

    Thanks for that Tremonte ... I have to move my clutch lever up because of my short fingers but i wasn't sure how far up was too far. I have question for you .... If i move my handlebars up a bit (because i don't like the original position) and adjust the brake lever the way you have shown, will that affect the rolling back of the throttle when i reach for the front brake? If it did affect it how would you re-position the throttle on the handlebars? Will moving the handlebars affect the handling of the bike? I don't really like the shape of the bars ... i wish they were straighter like the Yamaha MT07 (FZ07). They are just a weird shape at a weird angle but i'm getting used to them but they feel too low for me. Also do you know what weight the rear pre-load is factory set for ? (I am around 76.5KG).

    • @Tremonte
      @Tremonte  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Taniwhais you can adjust the throttle the same way. Loosen the screws and rotate it to where you want. I have mine rolled just a bit forward for the reason you just mentioned. If you do the handlebars, you can compensate the levers and throttle however you like.

      @Tremonte  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Taniwhais and I think the factory load is between 135-140lbs. Maybe a bit more.

      That's only about 61 - 63Kg's so do you think i should get it adjusted for a heavier weight because with all my gear on i'm probably over 80kg's. Some of the roads where i live are extremely bumpy due to floods earlier in the year and i'm bouncing around quite a lot on the bike. Have you done a video on how to adjust the pre load if not could you do one please (when you get the time ...no hurry). I'm trying to learn as much as i can about maintaining my bike myself because the dealership is very expensive at about AU$60 per hour (or part of) for labor. I bought some frame sliders to put on but i didn't have a Torque wrench so i had to get them to do it for me (ouch ....expensive!!!!!)

      +Taniwhais the rear shock on our bike is kind of a pain with the tool that comes with it. I'll see if I can put something together for a vid in the near future. It's best done with two people.

    Thanks for the tips.
    I have a question, I have the Ninja 650 Krt and I'm unsure about the throttle free play my bike is only 2 months old and I seem to think there may be too much, what are your thoughts on this?
    Thanks Rob.

      Roll the throttle all the way closed. Make a light pencil mark, or use two pieces of tape lined up. One on the grip, one on the plastic housing. Open the throttle until you feel the tension and measure the difference. Around 3mm is what you want at max. Minimum is ~2mm. Any more or less, and you can pull the rubber boot on the throttle cable back to reveal the adjustment nuts. Turn those until you are back to 3mm or less. If it's way off, you might need to make larger adjustments before the throttle body where the cable ends. There is a corse adjustment located there, but will be behind the fairings on the ninja.
