    Awesome Video !
    I would just have mentioned that a break lever adjusted to high can cause dramatic accidents. When you have to reach up for the breaklever, DONT loosen your grip enough and unintentionally open the throttle more. It results in accelerating into the threat you wanted to break infront of. (seen this happen to a friend, nothing I want to experience again.)
    Always set the breaklever up, low enough so you have to CLOSE the throttle to reach it.

    Great stuff, amazes me how many people never adjust any of these, had a guy at work jump on my bike (same make/model as his) he could not work out why it was different, all I had done was move the handlebar and adjust the lever position.

  • @uberian22
    @uberian22 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    The bringing the tools you used on your first ride after adjustment is excellent advice. When I adjusted the height of my shifter I forgot to fully tighten the bolts so about 20 minutes into my first ride, The bar connecting my shifter to the bike disconnected. I had to pull over and hand tighten it. Because of this I discovered rather quickly how to utilize the friction zone as I was stuck at a stoplight in 4th gear.

    Great video as always ! You may also tell : "check your user manual for nominal adjustments" because when you get a used motorbike (and sometimes even a brand new one) you discovers that the settings are not matching the specifications to start with. Have all the setup reset at factory value is the only way to start on good bases.

    I'm so glad I found this video. I got a new bike a week ago and was already missing the old one because of the uncomfortable position of the gear lever. Now I know it can be easily adjusted. Thanks a lot!

    I got a cable clutch on my 2021 kawasaki 650 versys and it has the 5 points of adjustability like the brake leaver, pretty sure my kle 500 back in 2006 had adjustable clutch leaver and that was cable as well. Just depends on the manufacturer.
    And for adjusting suspension, you also get static sag (bike under its own weight) too, then what your body weight changes to the suspension. Dave Moss has videos on how to adjust your suspension for your body which can explain it far better than i can.
    You find out what settings you got first before changing things so you got a reference to go back to, then start to make changes, and you can use a cable tie on the front fork to measure braking compression and if your bottoming out the forks under braking which is bad. Again, watching Dave moss videos you can pick up the skills to do it yourself for a safer ride.

    Thanks! Going from cruiser to sport @ 60 has been a learning curve! The rake or lack of rake has been a trip🤣. It feels (in comparison) in a slow turn like the bike gets to a sudden point where the handlebars get heavy and it wants to (buckle under for cruisers) nose dive. It's one of the conversion cons, I love my Street Triple but now I want a cross over to go cross country because this is great in town or short trips but not a all day trip to beach or mountains🤪.
    Unless you have suggestions?

    All good stuff - apart from the bit about cable vs hydraulic clutch. You do get reach adjustment on cable clutch’s as well - as stock, the z650 and Street Triple have it, although Yamaha being stingy didn’t include it on the MT07 (and I guess on the other MT’s as well?)

      As the other guy said, i got it on my 650 versys, but im pretty sure i had adjustment on both leavers on my kle 500 back in 2006, i think its just a kawasaki thing which is nice of them as you should be comfortable in any vehicle.

    If you want an EASY. one-person way to set that Bike Sag, I cut a short bit of suitable diameter rubber pipe, split the side and wrap it round the Fork and Rear Spring Shaft at maximum lift when the bike is loaded but not with me on it.
    When I get on it the compression pushes the rubber tube ring down/up the shaft/fork, and when I get off the bike it returns to its resting hight, leaving the rubber collar at it's relaxed travel and can be adjusted from there.
    That's just my way.
