In Memory of my Best Friend Odin

- This 19 Minute long Video was made in Memory of my Best Friend Odin, whom I am forever thankful to have spent the best 13 years of my life with.
Odin is (since he lives forever in my heart) a German Shepherd Dog, born in Atibaia, Brazil on August 10th, 2010. With age 2 he moved all the way to Switzerland, to the canton of Bern. In 2017 we moved to Portugal, to the area of Cascais, where we spent another almost 3 years together. In 2020 we returned once again to Switzerland, but this time to the Swiss Alps, namely the canton of Grisons, to the village known as Bonaduz. We lived there, until Odin crossed the Rainbow Bridge on August 31, 2023, at the age of 13.
Odin was the perfect dog, my idol, my superhero. He never hurt a fellow animal, whether other canines, felines, or even rodents. He loved lizards above all! There are not enough words to describe how amazing and perfect Odin is, I can't wait for the time when I meet him again.
I want to thank you from all my heart that found your way here to take 19 minutes of your lives in honor of Odin. He would have loved you the second he set his beautiful eyes on you, and that is without you needing any treats! That's just the way he is.

Unfortunately due to my grieving and mental state at the time making this video, I have named Odin's Australian Shepherd girlfriend wrongly on several occasions, her correct name is Avani (not Avina). The second last picture for instance where Odin hugs Avani, has the wrong name. I cannot re-upload a corrected version of the video, as I'd lose all your beautiful comments. I am sorry about this.

😢😢😢😢I've had German Shepherds my whole adult life. I'm 74 now and probably have my last one due to my age! I wouldn't take a pot of gold for the wonderful role they have all played in my life. I pray that they are with me when I cross over! Thank you God for allowing me to share my life with these beautiful angels! 💜

Well done Sir! That showed compassion at its finest. A bond with a German Shepherd is truly amazing. As someone that’s been down this road a few times. I feel your pain. Thanx for your great and respectful film. And yes, It is a great loss, and I was surprised how emotional it really was when I lost my male Toller in 2021. Now I have the best dog I`ve ever had. It's a a White swiss Shepherd. She reminds me of Odin. Needs a lot of love, playful, love other dogs, calm and very lojal.

What an absolutely stunning dog. You gave him a fantastic life and you could see from the way he looked at you that he knew this and loved you for it. I lost my Monty - working cocker spaniel - in January aged almost 14, there is nothing that can fill the enormous hole that is left when they go. Thank you for a beautiful video

I'm 37. I lost my female mixed German Sheppard when I was 15 and I'm still affected by it... Very probably because she passed away because she was sick and my parents didn't want to spend even 1 cent on a mere dog...
I don't know what it's like to share your life with a dog for 13 years and share so much, but I know that even with the pain that their disparition causes us, it is worth it!

I had to say goodbye to my Akita back in March this year. I adopted him when he was a few months old and was only a few days off his twelfth birthday when he passed. He was "my baby boy" and my best friend. He meant the absolute world to me and not a day goes by that I don't think of him, nor feel his absence. I am so sorry for your loss. Rest in peace Odin.

@@OdinAdventures my GSD passed years ago...i kept all his stuff and time to time i think about him on how he was so handsome, loyal, smart, obedient, protective etc.and how we would go for walks, attend classes, go to the store, follow me everywhere, ride in the truck, do tricks and stuff like that...and i imagine he is looking at me, watching my every move etc following me and making sure i made it to the bathroom, garage, wash room okay...today, i have a lab retriever...and i try not to compare him with cooper; although the lab has qualities that are good too...no one will feel the way we do about our GSD and its passing...something about them is very special...i have had rotts, dobes and now a lab but nothing will ever compare with the GSD...maybe one day, i will get another GSD but i know he will not ever compare with cooper...now, you got me tearing...blessings...

What a great dog! My husband's family have always owned German Shepherds. My mother-in-law trained the very first K-9 officers for my hometown P.D. and his name was Panzer. They are loyal, smart and easily trained family dogs who will protect their family with their dying breath. Great tribute to a sweet pup.

@@arlenelowery4063 Try also those Intelligence Games with AJ. Just 2-3 mins a day of practice and he's square within 10 days, loves it, and a great fun for all ! Important to exercise the mind also at that age, this saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" is complete bs. Enjoy the beautiful time with AJ !
@@OdinAdventures One of the mysteries of life. Since you responded to this message, my dear dog has had 3 seizures, been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour and only has a little while left. Life with these beautiful creatures is too short. My dear dog and I have watched this video and several others of your beautiful dog, Odin. Thanks for replying to my comment.
@@wowdesigns3417 Please know that we are in this together. I lit a candle for your dog and our prayers are with her! You are not alone in this! I wish there was a way that dogs would understand our vocabulary, because we can then tell them it's ok to rest, it's ok, we are there for them, but they keep not wanting to let us down and their iron will tells them to go on, for us. All you are doing at this point is the right thing to do. We are in this together, you are not alone, our hearts and prayers are with her and with you. Please make sure you see your beautiful time with her as a present that she gave you all this time, a present that you gave each other, to be such a long time with each other. This truthful thought has helped a lot. Remember, you were put together in this world, you found each other!

We lost both of our German Shepherds just 3 months apart this year. They were my whole life.
I haven't been able to keep my composure long enough to put a good memorial video together to honor my Klaus and Axel. I just feel like my soul caves in any time I try to focus on it. Perhaps your video will push me to finally make it through the process entirely.
Odin definitely looked like an angel. I wish he could have met Klaus and Axel. Perhaps they're all playing together on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge today.

As for the memorial video, it took me long to do but I worked on it for like 30 - 45 mins daily, and started about 3 weeks after Odin crossed the rainbow bridge. Like Klaus, DM attacked Odin at age 12. I also had a WalkingPets wheelchair, but here in Switzerland and the small cars we have, it didn't fit, the sidewalks are narrow, he got stuck all the time, and where I lived it was not ideal for him so I relied on the car where it was complicated. I got a special vest for him instead where I held him up in the back and supported his walking. All my fingers, on the sides, had severe callouses, I had to wear gloves with creme inside, the callouses ripped open, not big cuts but man did it hurt, but everything for my Odin, until he was not able to urinate anymore.
We are in this together my friend. They are forever in our hearts and rest assure they're playing together now and whenever you want to start a memorial, take it slow, but it helped me heal because it made me devote each day a special time just for him, which is helping me with the grief.
Please let me know here once you finish it, I want to watch and get to know your dogs more! Be save !

I recently lost my boy, Sherman. He was 15 years old. The most handsome dog. I miss him EVERY minute. I’m so sorry for your loss too. It’s a loss so unique, because these fur babies live every day with us, consoling us, loving us, giving everything they’ve got to us. In return, they ask for little. I don’t know what humans did to deserve dogs….. but, I feel BLESSED to have been loved, and given love, to such a fantastic creature. ❤ RIP Sherman & Odin. @@OdinAdventures That's true, but I'm worried I'll forget them at some point. Just small things like the sound of their barks, funny little things they did, you know?
But I suppose having looked at them with my own eyes rather than focusing on getting the right angle for the shot (which I definitely would have done, bad habit of mine) all the time is precious in and of itself, that's for sure. I definitely won't regret it.

From the first moment of happiness with a new GSD pup, you know that he/she will break your heart someday when their life ends. My male and female GSDs are my 10th and 11th and someday they will break my heart like all the rest. Each dog has left me a better person and without hesitation to give the next pair a loving place to live and to be cared for.
