I know some might laugh at me for saying this, but the one feature im properly excited bout; that usb port on top of the front windscreen, that is pure genius. Whoever thought of that thing, he deserves a huge bonus this year. Gotta say though, the voice command in the infotainment system is deeply impressive. It appears to be as responsive as siri, n to think that its in a proton, mind blowing!!!! If proton price this right, n they ironed out all their unreliability shits, make it as u say bobby, good handling car, theyll have a massive hit for sure....
its better than siri...
In my opinion it is more responsive and accurate than MBUX voice command system as well

What is the correct price for it?
Bobby, after long consideration , I have decided to cancel my booking for Volvo XC40 and go for this X70 , as X70 also have a lot of new tech that I want , like ACC , LDW , BLIS ,AEB , 360 camera etc . The killing point for XC40 is the back seat too upright , will not be comfortable on long journey ( I am in KL but go back to Kluang , Johor quite often , my mum will not be comfortable seating behind for long hours) , the only corncern is how this X70 drive , waiting for your drive video review when avalaible .Cheers.
The XC40's back rest seems upright because the boot is very usable. The X70's boot is small mind you. And it gives the sensation that it's upright because of the amount of space it has behind. Volvo's safety systems are still a step above everyone else to be honest. So for me if you asked if the price, spec and power is justified to be doubled that of the X70, I'd say yes. But if you were to be considering those mass market SUVs or even sedans .... then it's clear.
I have to agree with you,but as I am single I don't need very big booth space,XC40 seating position at the back really corncern to me as my mum will not be comfortable,off course in compare of all tech spec no match to XC40,even the look and design wise X70 no where near,but too bad I just have to take care my parents feel in deciding,anywhere thanks for the advice
@@kelvinchan9480 one thing good about volvos is their best in business seat comfort. Even bobby posted in his FB that the V90's seat fit comfortably for his mom who has scoliosis compared to other cars where she can feel pain
@@peterambrose2148 i watch many review also and take note of that , but that is V90 not XC40 , just like Bobby mentioned they design like that with certain purpose like bigger boot space , it is more suitable for urban city driving , but the back seating position not for long hour journey , it is just not fit to my requirement , I can't buy it then wait for my mum to nag at me every time we go for long journey .Haha!!!!

companies merging with one another is not anything new..even volvo is under Geely..n it doesn't make them any less swedish..strategic partnerships are essential for their survival n growth

Well, this is the first time Proton has made actual progress in it's model range. The X70 has its roots in Volvo /Geely hence the improvements.

I believe every Malaysian would love to own one of those. I'll drop a 'but', but I just hope they don't get complacent again after a couple years of success. Many years ago I personally felt "betrayed" when I ran into a few proton Wira and waja while studying in UK that were better built, equipped and cheaper than what we get here.
proton lost money on every car they sold in the UK, because they had to subsidise the cars to match the price of competitors in the UK. proton cars cost more to build due to lower manufacturing volume. The difference now is shared volume with Geely which is what we are seeing here with the X70.
@@Glee73 agree, it doesn't help some "Malaysian" kept bashing proton to no end. After Geely partnership, the same people says "oh it's not proton anymore". Meh. People are just hard to please.
Simply amazing. Went to see it on Saturday and holy moly, it is much better than expected! The only knock might just be the boot space but yeah, fantastic.
It actually looks really good atm, cant believe it tbh. Gotta test drive it once it's in the showrooms, cant wait.

Im in shock with the commands.
This morning go to test drive in Plentong, Johor for the Premium 2WD. The interior of this vehicle and the ride are great.
However during the testing of the AEB and FCW by the sales representative, this system won't work. He tried few times of this system but still he fail.
This make me to reconsider to purchase this vehicle. (initial want to place order after test drive). Start to concern the durability and QA/QC control of this vehicle.
sometimes it's just dirty sensor. Test drive car usually face this problem, they don't really bother washing the car or just wipe the radar area.

Noticed that the they forgot to replace the coat hanger at the passenger side to the driver side. It’s in the original place (left passenger side) which originally fitted for left hand drive. I’ve already mention to them at the special preview but I guess it was too late.
Checked at KLIMS. Both of the handles have coat hangers. 👍

the front passenger seat control switch could have been placed other than there that only can be reached by the front passenger. when you have kids with itchy fingers, you're going to have a war inside the car cabin between the front and the backseat passengers : )...unless the switch can be locked by the front passenger, but seriously, how are you, as a front seat passenger going to adjust your seat with the switch located there? anyway nice review bro, i personally think that X70 is an excellent product coming out from proton.
It's an additional switch for the rear passenger where they can adjust the front passenger seats for more clearance when there is no front passenger. The front passenger still controls the seat position based on the common place. This feature is already a standard for 3 generations of Camry. It's a boss control where bosses can adjust without the drivers need to stop and do the adjustment.

Its definitely shorter and smaller than CRV

Geely used one years to improve proton car so much while compare with other managers that used thousand of years.
If you looks on china car maker nowadays you may find a few malaysian people are work in china with the largest consultant to tune chinese car..especially on ride n handling you may feels some dna inherit from proton ride handling..hahaha
well Proton Chief Design said early x70 CBU from China change is minimum (mainly in exterior + RHD ), i guest x70 better Ride & handing only went x70 in CKD in Tg Malim.
