This scene is so romantic yet full of uncertainty and trust at the same time. This is the exact thing why Miss Saigon instilled it's emotions to the audience. Love and all its forms. Love ain't easy.
She's raised in the best way. She was so conservative. DON'T THINK THAT SOME PEOPLE GIVE A PRECIOUS THING SS EASILY AS "YOU" DO. not everybody is as foolish as you.
I can't stop thinking on how Kim sat on Chris' lap and traced his features. To his forehead, to his nose and how she bit her lip and smiled genuinely. *I'm crying don't mind me*
I feel like this song is always forgotten. It's the song that sets the entire musical and makes me emotional every time I listen to it. The simplicity of their love, compared with the sun and the moon is so powerful. When they say 'and we meet in the sky", it sounds so naive out of context but fits so perfectly in the story, because they are naive and so lost in life. They only have enough to know that their love is as remarkable as the sun and moon's limited encounter in the sky. If you watch the entire show, you'll realise that the theme of sun and moon is everywhere. It's truly an amazing song. Boublil and Schönberg are an incredibly genius duo. Sun and Moon is definitely the best song in the show and by far my favourite song in the world because it's the only which has genuinely got me to the core.
Yuki Sutton My favorite song in the show, too, and in the running for my favorite love duet in the musical theater rep (rivaled only by In Whatever Time We Have from Children of Eden). poster's edit: Oh, my goodness, when I posted this originally I was forgetting both Tonight and One Hand, One Heart from West Side Story.
I was left by my American father and I was always been teased as a GI baby. I have tried searching for my father but I have no idea what his name is. My mom died while she was laboring and I am left with my grandparents. This story resounds so much and it calms the storm inside of me. It revives the memory of my mother. And it reflects the hardships I have experienced. Miss Saigon will always be a part of me.
Literally the cutest moment I’ve ever seen in a musical- Chris: how would you like- Kim: how would I like?! (Excited) Chris: *laughing so freakin excited* How would you like living with me? Man, it’s not just these lines but the way that he can’t stop holding her to make sure she doesn’t leave him, the way he seems shocked when she responds so quickly before he even fully knows what he’s asking because he’s so suddenly in love he hasn’t even thought about it yet. AH! My HEART!
@@breanacourtneysioco7450 No, it is indeed "How would you like?" and "How would I like?" She cut him off mid-sentence before he could fully utter "How would you like living with me?" I was lucky enough to watch Lea perform this live in New York many sun and moons ago and it was magical! But this performance is sooooo sweet and tender. It felt as though they were really in love. Amazing...
Dafro Ko well maybe because simon was so held back by then. She was way too young and he had to be gentle knowing she's just 18 that time still too innocent. I agree though, they, leah and will, had the chemistry. I even thought he was the original chris.
On one of Lea's interviews, she said upon taking the role of Miss Saigon she had no experience with romantic relationships and definitely she was so nervous around Simon. But Simon sat with her and said "you can trust me. I would not take advantage of you. I will take care of you" and that itself was so sweet 😭 But still I also liked this version too after all that. maybe its a matter of experience really.
This is a classic example of a performance that delivers all the emotions but did not compromise the melody and the vocal requirement for the scene! By far the rendition so far that I have seen in my opinion :)
currently 14 and im sad that i couldnt live in such a beautiful generation- where everyone bonded over beautiful music, classical movies like the sound of music, miss saigon, and all i can experience is hearing stories from my mother, grandmother. i felt so curious i had to see it for myself. it took my breath away. the kissing scene is soooo ughhdjfjdkcd goosebumps, even sound of music. i dont get how my classmates and friends havent seen this. few saw it after i wont stop talking about it ahahahahaha
Currently 15 and I feel the same. This is pure golden talent and our generation should see how the past was so good and so great. I wanna see them live and if I could just travel to the past, I'd surely do.
It's also disappointing that other kids my age don't like these types of thing because they find it "corny". They don't understand true talent and art, they even mock it. What they like are effortless music whose lyrics are all about drugs, money, sex and brokenearted anthems 🙄
It’s ok you’ll find lots of other people eventually who love theatre and will probably love this. Just keep your eye out for them. Theatre is still a love of the younger gen
No joke.. I saw a tour performance of this show from the front row, this was years ago.. this song was soo powerful and the actor and actress that were playing Chris and Kim were both weeping during this song.. no joke and it was not scripted. Both of them cried thru it. It was so powerful .. not sure why.. i believe to this day it was the utter POWER and beauty of this song...
I have always loved Lea Salonga. But this particular performance just added my love and respect for her work. I don't just admire her as an astounding singer she already is. But for the passion she puts on every performance. That's true love over there. Not for Will Chase but for the art and performing.
Please! It's obvious she had the hots for him, and vice-versa, but they were both taken at the time. They first did _Miss Saigon_ together on Broadway in 1999. Then Lea requested Will for this run in Manila, Philippines (her homeland), which took place from October to December 2000. Then they flew back to New York to do the last month of _Miss Saigon_ on Broadway, which closed in late January 2001 after nearly a decade.
Thinking that lea salonga was just a teen when they performed it and hearing her said in an interview that during that time, she doesn't have any romantic relationship, she really did very good in acting to be inlove.
[KIM] You are sunlight and I moon Joined by the gods of fortune Midnight and high noon Sharing the sky We have been blessed, you and I [CHRIS] You are here like a mystery I'm from a world that's so different From all that you are How in the light of one night Did we come so far? Lea looks like she’s still 17… she never ages! This is such a different interpretation from the original…very believable! It’s wonderful, of course. The original will always hold a special place in my memory and ♥️ Lea and Simon created Kim and Chris with pure talent and sizzling chemistry!
Will Chase played an American GI Chris, superbly, Again with so much passion as a Marine so in love. Theyre was genuine chemistry between him and his Kim, and his voice was great and sang with conviction, matching Lea's really well, Beautiful and harmonious. I liked it when he really kissed her, it showed the true depth of their love. His acting was fantastic and you felt what he was feeling, and I loved his curley red hair, that was an extra bonus for him. A true love story very similar to another Tragic Musical, Madam Butterfly. But in reality, this is what did happen to so many young girls in the countries where there were GI's. Why are some men so weak and fickle in their emotions that they're never willing to fight for what they really wanted and loved. They were just so ready to give up and live secret lives of guilt never thinking of the repercussions and emotional devastation of their actions and the havoc they left behind. I suppose, as they say, it's one Price of War. So Sad.
This song, as well as "Last Night of the World" (also from Miss Saigon), while tinged with sadness, are two of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Every detail that Lea Salonga and Will Chase put into their performances, both vocally and in their acting, really hit me in the feels. Lea and Will are my favorite Kim and Chris.
The way the music starts to swell and then finally releases on “And we meet in the sky” just makes me feel so many emotions. And the harmony between Kim and Chris is just so powerful. It brings me to tears every time. I wish this song was longer so that people wouldn’t forget it so easily.
Indeed this chemistry between the leads is palpable, sincere and deep...one is ultimately made aware that their time together is short in that millieu...but their joy in their love cannot be tarnished... WOW 🎉
I had the privilege to watch miss saigon here in the Philippines 3 times, played by 3 different Kims. Lea Salonga, and the 2 others i just forgot their names. It was held at CCP manila. It was such an unforgettable and magical experience. All of the audiences who watched were formally dressed. It was treated like youre really in broadway.
I've seen versions of this scene with Simon Bowman and it is NOT like this. Simon usually glances elsewhere while Will looks at Lea like he is really in love with her and never breaks that gaze like he is really in awe of her. I think Lea and Will's version will always be the best. All of their scenes feel so damn real.
Wow I was touched and mesmerised. The chemistry is undeniably strong. I was smiling throughout the whole video. Kinilig ako hihi. This performance was the best. Period
I just watched the 25th Anniversary performance yesterday and I'm back here. I'm crying because the story is so pure. The only safe haven on this story is this scene. My emotions are taking over. I'd better go.
This pairing of Lea & Will … perfection. Captured right here, in this delightful clip. They painted palpable purity into the star-crossed characters’ young love through the sweet tone each infused into the lyrics of this beautiful song. Bravo! 👏👏👏
Love this song sm😭😭miss Saigon will always be my favourite musical and I like this guy better than the other guy and ofc lea the most beautiful voice I’ve heard
I come back to this video every so often because of all the musicals I've seen, this song has touched me the most with it's pure, passionate depiction of love. It's such a wonder to watch Lea and Will, their chemistry is great in this and so tender. I CRY EVERYTIME 😭
just wanna acknowledge what different of a level these artists are. Imagine singing, acting, blocking, music, etc. all in one take and it's damn perfect.
I was lucky to have watched Miss Saigon here in Manila, up close and personal. It was a dream actually have THE Lea Salonga play Kim that night. Her voice as clear as a crystal. Miss Saigon songs never gets old on me. Much love and respect.😊
The best scene I have ever seen in any musical. It's so real and it's like the audience isn't even there. Just the two of them in love. Lea is fantastic but so is the guy, whoever he is. He really looks like a real soldier
Though I love the music of the remake, and Eva and allistar do an great job, I like how sweet this one is. I feel like his Chris (though acting interpretation I know is a thing ) is more angry and frustrated, will’s is more loving and expressive but broken and needing something good. But both are great, I really love this one tho a lot
i'm going to show my voice teacher this, I must sound like Lea Salonga. She is so perfect and that's why her voice is so preserved till today. All the right, healthy techniques. phenomenal
I've seen the full musical today. I can't stop listening to this scene and i CAN'T stop hurting. My heart grieves for Kim. MS will haunt me for days. Edit: I love Lea and I've been watching her musical clips and when i saw this one, i was smiling the whole time with how beautifully both she and Will executed it. Then i saw the whole musical and going back to this moving scene, I'm smiling sadly. This moment was a total eclipse. Sun and moon, relatively in our sky, only meet when one is leaving, much like them. Chris needs to leave when saigon was falling apart. When they met again, Kim was running out of time. They are indeed sun and moon, they cannot be together for long. But they do have that eclipse where they held each other tight and everything was perfect.

(Just watching june 10, 2019.. )
I love the chemistry! Great performance! :)
I love this guy playing Chris, I saw him in Miss Saigon in New York in 1999
Wow I was touched and mesmerised. The chemistry is undeniably strong. I was smiling throughout the whole video. Kinilig ako hihi. This performance was the best. Period
CHRIS YOU HAD ONE JOB
I just watched the 25th Anniversary performance yesterday and I'm back here. I'm crying because the story is so pure. The only safe haven on this story is this scene. My emotions are taking over. I'd better go.
The set of the 25th anniversary is so good. But they have no chemistry. Just a lot of kissing.
This pairing of Lea & Will … perfection. Captured right here, in this delightful clip. They painted palpable purity into the star-crossed characters’ young love through the sweet tone each infused into the lyrics of this beautiful song. Bravo! 👏👏👏
Lea Salonga is a great singer I love the way she sings it
2020 na pero kinikilig parin ako sa dalawang to HAHAHAHA
The chemistry unbelievable. The cute laughter in this production adds to the phenomenal production.
that first line “you are” makes me want to cry! 😭 Thank you Lord for Lea Salonga! ❤️
i keep watching lea salonga in youtube i really love her voice
I saw her moon :)) she's so amazing, the voice quality, errthing
definitely my favourite chris with Lea Salonga, love them so much :)
Who's still watching this in 2019? 😅
2020
2024
oh my god Lea is so wonderful! hearing her voice makes me tear up. Such a talented person
i felt legit love, 2024 still watching?
Love this song sm😭😭miss Saigon will always be my favourite musical and I like this guy better than the other guy and ofc lea the most beautiful voice I’ve heard
This made me cry.... every relationship has its own flame of love.
I come back to this video every so often because of all the musicals I've seen, this song has touched me the most with it's pure, passionate depiction of love. It's such a wonder to watch Lea and Will, their chemistry is great in this and so tender. I CRY EVERYTIME 😭
2019, anyone? who would want lea and will chase to reunite? on one stage again, anyone? urghhh. that would be so greaat!!! 😭💖
Who's still with me? Aug 14, 2019
november 1, 2019 (I adore Lea so much ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ)
just wanna acknowledge what different of a level these artists are. Imagine singing, acting, blocking, music, etc. all in one take and it's damn perfect.
Never gets old .... Lea's voice better than ever decades later
Will Chase's voice is playful. That makes me love him more. 😍
This is my favorite version of Sun and Moon. Their romantic love for each other looks natural. Everything in this is so natural
First time watching this in 2024 and I’m crying..😢😢
I love all of lea’s high notes bc how can I not but how she executes the low notes gives me legit shivers and goosebumps every single time
I was lucky to have watched Miss Saigon here in Manila, up close and personal. It was a dream actually have THE Lea Salonga play Kim that night. Her voice as clear as a crystal. Miss Saigon songs never gets old on me. Much love and respect.😊
it’s 2019 and i’m still crying how passionate their love is. and their voices!!! 🥰🥺
One of the best pairing! Voices and acting wise, they complimented each other.
The best scene I have ever seen in any musical. It's so real and it's like the audience isn't even there. Just the two of them in love. Lea is fantastic but so is the guy, whoever he is. He really looks like a real soldier
Will Chase ia the actor
The chemistry, the acting, the lyrics, the situation
IT MAKES ME CRY
Best Kim and Chris ever!🌟 their height difference is everything😍🥰 this rendition is intimate, sexy and so moving, you never want it to end❤️
OMG LEA FORGOT TO PUT HER PANTS ON HAHAHAHHAAHAHA Lea's too sexy here
2020 here. 😍
Heyyyy
i'm going to show my voice teacher this, I must sound like Lea Salonga. She is so perfect and that's why her voice is so preserved till today. All the right, healthy techniques. phenomenal
I am in love with the both of them. The chemistry is undeniable. They could pass as real life lovers!
Did you watch the MS in person or via online? I wanna watch it too 🥰
@@gieanngonzales Hi! I only watched the official recording of the full show.
