Fitting Bigger Wheels on a Ford 6610

  • Here's what happened after using the new bead breaker. I have never seen a tractor that looks good with small tires. It seems imperative to fit the largest tires possible on any tractor. Roughly, a 20% speed increase going from 30s to 38s. While we all like this rubber, a few of you seem bad at using the proper rubber when the occasion rises. lol

    I've got a 5600 with dual power, and it had 16.9x30 tires on it when I bought it. It ran 16mph down the road , I put 15.5x38 on it with 10.00x16 front tires, and now it'll do 19mph down the road. So I gained 3 mph with the 38-inch rubber like you did. I'm glad I switched them out!

    I had a 5000 that had been a selectospeed with 16.9-30's. It had a 8 Spd from a high crop 15.5 -38's. The slow rear from the selectospeed coupled with the slow planetary reduction from the high crop gave me a road gear less than 10 mph. Needless to say it got tailored everywhere. Great square baleing tractor though. It didn't ware you out at the beginning of the waggon hustling back and forth. 1st and 2nd gears were like creeper gears.

  • @JMo268

    I don't know how you shift that thing when it's rolling. I can shift my Ford 3000 while moving really easy. But my Ford 5000 I can't shift even if I double clutch it. You think that's normal?

    • @ko1113

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can shift the little Fords clutch less on the road, haven't had enough momentum before with the 6610. But it shifts fine between gears nicely with the pedal. There might be a bearing going bad for your 5000 for the pto drive internally causing it do drag on your transmission input shaft.

Now it looks hot rodded up with tires you might as well find a 401 motor from a 8-9000 or TW and put in it, she'll be a real useful tractor then.
