I like your review but your wrong about the car its actually fast. you need to build boost and form personal experience with my GT N-Line you need at least 20-30 minues of hard riving to warm up this engine. launching hard in this vehicle is a little bit tedious, but very worth it.
I agree. I disagree with her opinion on the cars power on quickness though as well because maybe she’s driving a manual but I own the automatic 7 speed and it’s pretty quick and more than positive it’s quicker than the manual
What wait I just started the video and you say you like manual transmissions? Awesome. I have this same car and I am trying to get my wife to learn to drive it. I am impressed!
Lauren, off subject but Jaguar has done a mid-cycle upgrade on the F-Pace. It looks great and I would appreciate your opinion on the car. My issue is overall long term reliability and depreciation. Hope you get a chance to review one once they arrive. Thanks.
I’ve always loved the new Jaguar F-Pace. The newest refresh of the Jaguar F-Pace is super impressive and they improved on all the minor issues that frustrated me including the slow center stack processor. The newest version may have a 3L diesel in the US. I’m waiting on confirmation of that. If so, I’d get one myself. Reliability wise, there are no major issues, rough ride on a few of the trim levels, that is a person perspective. One of the best features is the JAguar maintenance is included and will save on money. If you have other questions, ask.
@@CarCoachReports Thanks Lauren, you are the best. I really value your knowledge and love your reviews. I live in Las Vegas half the year and the other half (spring-summer) an hour outside of Budapest (Lake Balaton) and I haven't decided which country I would prefer to have an F-Pace. As always, very grateful for your expertise and advice. Bill
Not a race car it's practical & sensible for every day fun driving on city streets. A race car could cause high insurance rates, speeding tickets and crashes.
There is no legal race car for sale. That said I have Forte GT, the sedan version of this car basically. I got a much better price on mine, one because it was on the lot since Oct 2019 (bought June 2020) , it Currant Red and it's Manual = $21,751 OTD
Gotta love the factory over boost feature with the dual clutch. This thing flies and keeps up with hard spirited driving. Just gotta keep it above 4k Rpm. But the most awesome thing is if you want it to be tame you just chill. Among the best cars ive handled as far as being an extension of the driver. The driver feed back is great and torque steer in minimal.
There is no factory overboost feature on this car with either transmission. The 2019+ Veloster Turbo has that though but its the updated 1.6T with electronic wastegate.
@@21DN8N I don't see this at all on my N Line with boost gauge. Boost appears to be limited in 1st and 2nd gear and 3rd gear is where max boost comes in. Hyundai would advertise this as a feature if it actually had it.

This is an excellent review, but the problem is that she appears to be reviewing both the CVT and the manual at the same time, and she does not always make the distinction as to which she is referring to. They drive differently. I have the manual. With the 1.6 turbo it's plenty fast--fastest car I've ever owned. I don't have to downshift to pass anyone. I can pass other cars going uphill in 6th. Does she really think that with manual trans, the Civic Sport hatch 1.5 turbo, the Mazda3 Touring hatch 2.5 NA, the Corolla XSE 2.0 NA, or the Subaru Impreza 2.0 NA are faster or have better acceleration? Because these are its direct competitors, not the GTI, Si, Type R, Mustang, Camaro, etc.. And the Veloster N has a 2L turbo, so that's not a legitimate comparison. She's confusing N with N Line. And yet the fact that reviewers are even comparing the GT N Line to hot hatches and other performance cars says so much about how good it is as an everyday driver and how far it exceeds its true competition. Also, other than the rear camera, the manual does not have those other safety features. I never had them in any car before and was willing to forego them. I would have liked rear cross traffic warning, but it will force me to be that much more careful. This is the fastest, most fun car I have ever owned, with the best manual shifter and clutch, and best steering I have ever driven. My only wishes would be an additional USB input, softer armrest, and 4 inches more in overall length. I used to own an Elantra wagon that was 175" long and liked the utility for hauling long items. Have to be a little more creative with this car if and when the occasion arises.
Missing blind spot monitoring is deal breaker for me otherwise it was right there. Now, I think Mazda 3 turbo (though expensive) and GLI are my two options.
I have 9600 miles on the GT N Line now and the engine is more responsive now than when it was when first purchased. This car is on line with a Honda Civic Si. Don't compare it to an R or a GTI. You don't compare the SI to a GTI so why the N line? It is not an N like the Veloster N, which is compared to the R & the GTI etc. I traded in a 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport. A similar equipped 2020 Honda Hatchback Sport as what I had was about the same price as the N Line that I now have. More items and features compared to the Honda. The N Line has bigger brakes, more power, leather seats, better instrumentation, just more features. So dear I disagree with your assessment and some of your ratings. But I do like your in depth review.
Faster? How they have the same HP. The N Line is smaller so I would think it would be lighter. And you can actually hear the exhaust. I dont miss the Honda Hatch that I traded in.
I have found the Elantra N Line a great little GT Hatch. The Si does not have a hatch so you are stuck with a dinky trunk opening. I have close to the same capacity in the GT as my wide has in her Encore. I doubt the SI is faster. You are talking almost identical HP with both cars & the GT is a little shorter. I believe it weights a little less. Guess what? I can get the GT in my garage and Have room in front to have a file cabinet and my tool box on my side of the garage. With the room in the front I have room to get to the side door in the garage.
There is a height difference between the cargo area behind the rear seats and the entire cargo area with the rear seats folded down. Not very convenient or well thought out. I was surprised when you called the center console/area under the armrest the "glove box." Does this car have no glovebox on the passenger side of the dash? Just looking for clarification. Interesting that you mention the safety features and the audio system on the test vehicle that is in this video as those are NOT standard features on the Elantra GT N-line. The extra features you mentioned in regards to safety are optional and pricey. I think that the transmission style someone chooses is very personal. I used to drive stick but the automatic transmissions they make today are far faster at shifting than a person and you still have quite a bit of control with the paddle shifters. Not too happy to hear that the turbocharged engine is lackluster. I would imagine most vehicles in this class are pretty similar. The Velociter may be peppier if it weighs less than the Elantra GT?
There is only a height difference on cars with the upgraded audio/tech package. The manual/base DCT cars have the dual level floor which on its higher height match the rear seat height folded down.
Hatch has been popular in Europe forever, I think it’s getting more popular here, but SUVs will sell more here, basically jacked up hatches.
Also, the chassis was tuned on the Nürburgring race track. no other hatch besides Type R and GTI have that type of racing pedigree
This is the car I want so bad. It’s very underrated, I think it has great value and warranty.
