184 AD, Later Han Dynasty China. The land is overcome by chaos and destruction. The imperial dynasty that prospered for many years is now about to collapse.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a dramatic, action-packed story of a nameless militia soldier fighting for survival in a dark fantasy version of the Later Han Dynasty where demons plague the Three Kingdoms. Players fight off deadly creatures and enemy soldiers using swordplay based on the Chinese martial arts, attempting to overcome the odds by awakening the true power from within.
Wo Long refers to a crouching dragon, and also refers to a hero or person of greatness who is not yet known. This is the story of officers, who will later become heroes, during their ‘unknown’ period, and also the story of a protagonist’s rise from being a ‘nobody’.
A dark fantasy set during the chaotic Three Kingdoms period, the narrative vividly tells the tale of a militia soldier’s strenuous fight for survival during a Later Han Dynasty infested with demons. It’s madness in the Three Kingdoms like never before!

Man i love the respec aspect of this game being able to change your build in your first play through at no cost should be the new standard 👌
Outriders is the same way.
I agree, unless the circumstances within the game would make it break the game. QoL is awesome, and allows more creativity, but if switching builds on the fly gave the player an unfair advantage, that would be lame. In this case though, it just gives more freedom to the player, but doesn't change the difficulty or the flow

Yeah. Finally devs are understanding some people dont want to restart X game tens of times or grind hundreds of hours to try every build/class. Immersiveness or roleplaying can go to hell.
The respec/battle set is such a great quality of life improvement for a guy like me. I literally do not have the time to start a new game to create a new build/character. I’ll be able to have different builds on one save and won’t have to worry about the absolute grind because I don’t have the time due to work and family.
Nioh had plenty of respeccing as well though
Just be careful while leveling, if you level up while in one battle set and switch to an earlier lower-level battle set, you will lose those levels.

@@meskitsx It depends on your play style . If you’re aggressive go fire , if you’re defensive go earth , if you like to sustain health go wood, if you like to be a stealth type of player go water . Etc

For newbies on boss fights, Earth Spec, "Rock Toughness" is pretty strong. It cancels out losing a Morale Level if you get hit by a red attack. Lasts ~ 30 seconds, usable at 7 morale.
What a great video. I've been following since your Sekiro and Nioh 2 videos. I'm excited for Wo Long although it does seems incredibly similar to Nioh. I liked the demo, will get started on the main game tonight. The easy build switching looks HUGE.

18:21 To touch on "Deflection" timing, I've noticed there are "visual signs" of when you should hit Deflect. Example: When that enemy does his "critical attack" when he jumps in the air his sword "glints/flashes" and then his sword along with his body briefly has an extended "red body glow" you see his veins inside his body, that is the perfect time to hit circle. The spear guys the tip of the spear flashes.
FIRST BOSS EXAMPLE: In 2nd phase when he tries to pull you in with his critical, he starts to glow red center of body but right as you should hit deflect another red "circle" forms for a split second above the 1st one (closer to his head).
Fengxi (the pig boss) his belly flop is 3 steps towards you then there's an animation on his belly to time deflect. When he does the "critical charge" when his tusks glow red is the timing on deflect.
TLDR: There's always a "tell" during critical attacks for timing "deflects", some you have time to react to, some you do not and either need to learn or better position yourself during the deflect with a movement direction. Either look for "white glints" on weapons, or look pay very close attention to "the red body animations" when the Critical Attack starts, then pay attention to the next time you see a bunch of red either in/on the body of the enemy or its limb/weapon it's using to attack.

I love your videos man! Been here since nioh 1 and I've learnt so much from your guides. I can't wait to get into the meat of this game with builds and harder difficulties. My favourite part of team ninja souls-like is you know with each dlc the game is going to grow and become more complex, it's very exciting!
I love the ability to save different builds.
I think this is going to encourage me to really try everything the game has to offer.
Tip: If you wanna truly play solo without the NPC companions following you around, you can do that by using the Willow Branch, which will dismiss them. You can always call them back when you need them.
Keep in my mind that having the companions around will increase your bond with them over time, and you will even acquire their gear eventually.
The NPCs were pissing me off so bad I had to google how to get rid of them lmao. I understand what they were going for but this games combat does not jive with having companions, not even in the slightest. You cannot see a single thing going on, in a game that is all about tight timing.

Great video - very helpful. I love the respec capability in this game and if you want to play it more traditionally then you don't need to use the function. I also love the ability to change the character features on the fly if you want. So much about this game is really well thought out.

Picked up the game about a week ago and played it only a bit due to time constraints on my end. This vid so far is the most useful just to get started. Just getting an idea where the soft caps are gives me a better idea where to spend my levels on for whatever build I want to make.

Great video for a great game man! I was kinda lost at how to spend levels but this helped a lot. The review bombs on Xbox are hilarious. 1 star reviews from frustrated people who admit they couldn’t beat the first boss lol tip on second phase just sit and wait for a critical attack and deflect it. Do that twice and you auto win with spirit beast summon. Easy.
Very useful video, thank you, because I think this game is quite overwhelming at first, I started playing but I struggled to understand the mechanics as you're thrown right into action with not that much explanation (specifically about leveling up)

This game is super fun. I played with a friend so it was VASTLY easier than what most people had to go through but it was super enjoyable. I love the wood spells because they look cool (I’m here for a good time, sue me). All in all very fun.

I didn't know increasing your element stat also increases the element's damage. In hindsight that probably made a lot of sense. Btw you might have noticed that the counter to each element is like drawing a star shape.
It seems that each element on the star is opposite to the both elements it's strong/weak against. So Metal for example is strong against Wood and weak to Fire. That pattern repeats, so Water is strong against Fire and weak to Earth, etc.

Loved the demo on Series X. I know you mentioned the random white screen flashes you get on PC on your last video, but, wow, you can see how prevalent it is on this video. Hope it gets fixed, it'd border on game breaking, for me at least.

There are no stats to increase recovery time there's a few buffs but you're expected to increase recovery through attacking and deflecting

One question about the elemental status, for example they say to remove a fire 'burn' effect you can use a positive water effect, same for all the other elements. Do they just mean any buff spells from the counter element?

What do you think about the status effects increasing damage of the weakness element? So chill increasing the damage of stone? You suggest doing the other way around, so taking lightning to deal with water's weakness to earth instead. Maybe the coverage is better, and you do get a lot of damage from just pouring into your main attribute.
