I've got an A frame bug mesh tent inner from DD but use it with a 3 x 3 ultralight tarp - also from DD. Together packed weight is well under 1.4kg - a kg less than a Lansan from Kathmandu for example. But also.... the A frame bug mesh inner has both end and side entrance, so with a tarp i can open it right up with side entrance lean to style, or lock it down in A frame configuration for foul weather. I can deploy without tarp - or just use tarp as day shelter etc. The pack down is much smaller than any tent - no poles. With the matching fly you have less flexibility. I much prefer a 3 x 3. Thanks to light sleep pads and bags I'm now getting out for 2 nights with a 35l dutch army pack. Its brilliant. Much better on the back not lugging a tunnel pack or bergen and everything very ergonomic. I've toddled past overburdened hikers with this lightweight kit and kept dry and warm. In Australian heat, the ability to open it all up in lean to or high fly set up is great for venting - you just feel like you're under a mossie net - but you've got top cover.... and no crawlies. After my mate got a brown snake sleeping in his pack while he was surfing, I'm never sleeping or leaving kit in the open again.

Hi, I think this type of tent is great; double wall, affordable, durable and lightweight. Incredible! Two things I don't really get, though, because I want to love this tent idea very badly:
    1. With the XL version, the floor of the inner mesh is 240 cm wide and 180 cm deep. But why wouldn't you make it the other way round?? The way it is now, you can sleep two people comfortably, sure, but if the person at the back of the tent needs to get up in the middle of the night, it's impossible to do so without tripping and stumbling over the other person. Real shame :/
And the regular size, which IS deeper than it is wide, is just too small for two people of about 180 cm to sleep comfortably in.
    2. I'm concerned about the hole in the floor. Why not sew a sort of protective pouch underneath that can take the pole and not allow water in or something?
Thanks for considering the design related questions that spring to mind! :)
    Cheers

Looks to be a potentially good compromise between weight and room. On its own it could be really useful, presumably the spec as regards weight etc, is on your website. I’ll have a peek. Great stuff DD,

That solo inner does look very spacious indeed. I have a Hex Peak V4A and don't feel it's as spacious... Also, being over 6ft tall, it's a bit restricted on the length sometimes.

Lol, the tarp + inner takes up more pack room then a 2 person 3 season ultralight tent, such as the lanshan 2, or a zpacks tent

Mart Sturmer ££ difference is the key. DD stuff is bloody good in its price range, and the tarps especially are just bloody good.
