- This weeks video is a very unplanned video that starts with me thinking I have a BOTTOM DRAIN DISASTER about to unfold late in the evening, OR IS someone /something taking the BEEEEP..🤔😮😁.
It was panic stations to begin with until after closer inspection the cause is revealed...😉👍

Maybe think about making up an air bar, that way you can lose the air line or concea it in the corner and the fish cant disturb it into the bottom drain. Great vid Andy 👍🏻

You have some big fish that will move those air stones If you can remember I had a retro drain fitted and it kept moving about and it was my big fish Davina that was moving it. Nice update Andy

Maybe when you cleaned the air stones that it may of slid close to the bottom drain and the movement of water made it go under the bottom drain

wow..thats impressive. Clever koi playing head tennis with the air stone. I thought you ran the air 12hr on and off over winter. Thats why I dont want a bottom drain. Hahahahahahahaha..really clever talking koi. Is there no way to lock the top and the drain pipe together ? And a net drop to finish...love it.
Hiya, yeah Koi moving thongs in the pond... I start the air timing below 10 degrees after removing the air stones from the pond. I dare not fix it down in case I need to remove it should I have an issue in the drain pipe itself.. Talking Koi.. what ever next..😁😉👍

My koi are forever moving my weighted air ring.
Annoyingly they moved it around the bottom drain dome cover. I had to put a ladder over the pond and use my feet to put it back on.
Thankfully this was June and the water was 20c.
It can stay open at 10c 😂

Its funny that this happened to you, at least im not the only one.
Back in August of this year my Airated Screw on/off BD lid come off, the only thing i could put this down to was the air causing slight vibration and it slowly unscrewed.
This meant i had to get in the pond with yes my banana hammock on and refit by screwing it back on, which took about an hour of diving down 6ft in murky green water, couldnt see nothing even with a diving mask on, but i did it and resured it with a little PTFE tape.
Earlier this week i had one of those moment when you realise that it could come off again,so yesterday i managed to get a wooden pole on too the top off it and push it round to tighten it by about 90 degrees, meaning yes it was coming off again by unscrewing.
So as winters coming im turning the air off tomorrow till about March to A) Stop chiiling the water B) me not having to back in a sort it again!
Next year im going to CT1 on the threads to make sure it dont ever come undone again!!

i had the same thing happen to mine, fish pushed the air stone under the drain cover and it blew the top off. so i got a ladder and put it across the pond for me to lay on then got a bath plunger fixed to a long pole and suck the lid up with it and pushed it back on the drain saved me from having to go scuba diving 😂😂

I think your koi that's bent might be the culprit for the "movement" he's very interested in the drain 🐳. Have a look on the underwater shots 🐳

Ghost has been nose down since the tail gained a bend in it... Not really feeding them at all. Only to demand for 5mins. Checked for Costia a couple of weeks ago... Unsure of the eggs though?🤔🤔
I had that happen to me, wonder if drilling 3 small holes would stop it coming off , maybe I'll try it if it happens a 4th time, glad I've got a dry suit 😊
I have a hole drilled in the dead center of the cover to let the air out when I first fitted and filled the pond.. You have a dry suit... Now that is being prepared...😉👍
Drill a 4mm drilll hole both sides at the top of the cover also screw a small curtain hook in the top then get a lenght of banboo scew a hook in that now you have a thing to lift and reset the cover.
Hiya, I don't know if it would be strong enough to pull the top off as you saw the fit is very tight. Hence wondering if how the fish got it off? 😮👍
YES Koi are like naughty dogs they push my air stones all round the pond in the summer never happened when its cold though. interesting to see what your plans are for the air system next year.

Funny with you making out what the koi was talking about you.. because sometimes when I used to feed my koi just with just brown bread..and they probably thought he's not been to a koi pond dealers or anywhere else with the food that we enjoy this week only to M&S for what he enjoys himself 😂

From one young person to another, I've got one of the mature persons grabbers but it's not very long to reach the bottom of the pond.😊 However it does get used loads when I'm dropping stuff in the filter box...😉👍
