    So very sorry you lost one of your long timers, Andy. We can’t help but get attached to them, they are our water pets after all. Goldy had a nice life in your pond and sometimes there’s no reason why they pass, it’s just their time to go. 😢Sending a hug from US over the pond to you.

    Always so very sad to say goodbye to our wet pets when their time's up, RIP Goldie, you looked after her a long time Andy.
    I have 6 that are over 21 years old, they're not show winners, but mean a lot to me and of course I worry about them, especially this cold weather.
    Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year, 🎄⛄ 🎉
    Best wishes, John

    Hi Andy, sorry to see this news. We all try our best to take care of our fish and Goldie certainly had that care for a long time. As we all know sometimes know matter what you do you can get beaten. Regardless of that it’s still a sickener to take, especially a fish of such sentimental value. Chin up, keep smiling and Best Wishes Buddy

    Feel you loosing your Goldy, never easy. Only thing I would never do is feed below 8 degrees,as if the food hasn't very low fat content it will lead to internal problems. Still doesn't make it any easier loosing a fish tho. Also,to the best of my knowledge,koi can live to around 30years give or take. The bent tail was always there,could see from early on it was present,just one of those things that makes them individuals and I'm sure you mis him all the more. Thoughts are with you and of course Goldy 😢

    Sorry for your loss, for some they are just fish, but for many they are our friends usually with there own unique characters and for those of us who care, will miss them. I have lost some lovely friends and generally blame myself, its natural, because we want the best we can do for them. Just as humans cannot save all humans from illness, Koi keepers cannot save all Koi, we just do our best with the knowledge we have. Try not to feel blame as Goldie did well for so long and is at rest from whatever made him unwell. Have a great Christmas and keep up the great vids into 2024 so we can selfishly continue to enjoy watching Goldies pond mates and world of koi Pond Lifestyle.🙂🐟🌲🍻

    Sorry to hear about the loss of your Koi, it’s a choker for sure. In my Koi book it’s says that spinal curvature can be caused by TB the koi has had for a number of years. In mature koi causes can be over medication, use of a particular medication, electric shock “pump in water?” , lightning, malnutrition.

    Have you treated with a course of Virkon yet?
    Told you to several months ago after your previous problems but you never commented in any way that you had!
    At higher doses,(4-5 times recommended dose) can help get bacterial infections under control!

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hiya, I did discuss that with my supplier but we decided that after the showa died back a few months ago the others were looking good so didn't do it. I might just dose the pond as a precaution but can I dose at 6 degrees? 🤔 I have to look it up..👍

    • @ces69
      @ces69 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KoiPondLifestyleFrom what I’ve read it is still effective even at low temperatures and from what other TH-camrs say, at much higher doses than what’s recommended!
      I’ve used it at 5X the recommended dosage with no adverse effects to fish or filtration, in fact the Koi appeared enlivened with an increased appetite!
      I had a Koi with damage from Costia that just wouldn’t heal fully, was suggested that it could be down to a secondary bacterial infection and that Virkon might help, a few weekly doses later it had healed up nicely and all the other Koi appeared significantly happier too!
      It was apparently created for the commercial fish farms that have very high stocking levels and suffer from the associated problems that high stocking brings, intended for regular usage at high levels!
      I remember watching a video posted by Koi Wholesale saying the recommended dosage for most treatments was way too low but required for legal reasons and that he regularly doses at much higher levels!
      Obviously you need to do what you feel comfortable with, but I ramped up my weekly dosage till I was at 5X and found it to be most effective at that level.
      It may be that in some cases a higher dose may be required but I got the results I needed at that level without ANY adverse effects!
      Good luck!

    Mate!!!!!!!!! Cannot like/thumbs up this for obvious reasons. Gutted for you. I know why it had water on board and why it had scoliosis and why it slowed down at this temp when still feeding and why it could happen to some others over the summer and into winter this year and why it also had sepsis and why there was a lot of innocent mistakes made. Next time you bump into me at Steve's do be sure to grab my number and we'll go from there....if you want of course. My best, Carl

    • @carlbiggin3552
      @carlbiggin3552 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@KoiPondLifestyle Hi Andy the red underneath was sepsis, the bent spine was the form of scoliosis, the huge water onboard was due to kidney infection or at worst kidney failure. If infection only, the dropsy could of possibly been cured along with the sepsis by using a hospital tank, and salt, to a salinity of 0.9%. I would really recommend not to have the skypond as I would suspect both the Showa you lost earlier this year and this, may of been triggered by not being able to get back out without catching itself. Could be wrong, but just seems a bit of a pattern occuring...I am also Carl's Koi Care (on TH-cam) so I will do a video on the various stuff above and vital equipment needed plus treatment methods, once it's a bit warmer... thanks mate
