I power my BMPCC4K camera with a Makita battery adapter and buck converter. I have a large collection of Makita cordless tools, so the batteries are dual purpose. The buck converter outputs a stable 12 volts to the camera side port. This was my easy power solution and it works great. I normally use Rokinon lenses. I also purchased the Astrhori 50mm f/1.4 tilt lens and the 7Artisans 35mm f/0.95 lens. Both of these lenses are worth checking out.
How are u able to use other lenses ? Any recommendations how i can buy and use a cheap lens i dont have money for $500-$1000 lens i jus got this camera no lens
Nice rig. I enjoyed it cause you kept it as light as possible, witch is the purpose of a pocket camera. To be even lighter I guess I would go with the EVF instead of the external monitor. Cheers!
I've gotten away from the 10+ pound rigs for the 6K pro and 6K full frame, the camera body is just so awkward to rig, so just a cage with top handle and lightweight prime lens is all I use anymore. So much easier to work with because it's easier to hold like you would a DSLR body anyway
Is there a reason you prefer buying multiple batteries instead of getting a V-mount or power bank. I’m leaning towards V-mount right now as the battery life is longer.
I went that way purely because I got the battery grip, didn’t see the need to change the whole rig configuration just for battery. In hindsite, I must say, I’d go VMOUNT instead, but I’m still happy with my setup
Not all rigs can do everything, personally I'm not a fan of a shoulder mounted rig for my particular work, as they're a bit harder to travel around with a pack down. But, with the quick release baseplate, in the future, I could definitely adapt it to a setup like that no problem
Not sure completely. The non blackmagic accessories probably added up to just under $750 AUD (screen the biggest cost), the whole rig with lens being about $5k AUD with the Body and battery grip
Yep that’s right! Although I must say the Tilta one seems to be inaccurate and the gear threads don’t match up sometimes and tends to slip on their on follow focus wheel

Feelworld LUT7 Pro Monitor - is the model in correct because I only seem to find units with the single battery? How a what would you use to attach a mic? Finally is there a case you have or recommend for travel?
Yep that's my monitor, perhaps they've updated the model? Mine definitely has two slots. I utilise the coldshoe points to attach the mic on the side handle or the receiver to use a Rode Mic Wireless Go. or Go II. Here's a video showcasing my travel bag: th-cam.com/video/fiV5vatnjiU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CPq1yUQV1MfJ0ZWy
Very informative video. Thank you. Is that cage only suitable when using the battery grip, or can you adjust it when not using it? Are you also using the battery grip on a gimbal?
You can take off the base rod mount and battery grip attachment and use the cage without the battery grip. When using the 6K Pro on a gimbal, I don't use a battery grip. It's too tall for use without counterweights
Looks great! I was curious if the threading on the bottom has just one 1/4 20 or if there are two? It looks like an Arc Swiss plate at a 90 degree, but I would want to mount a manfrotto plate to it, aiming forward.
Hey man great video I will buy my Blackmagic 6k pro end of the year and I will upgrade my rig just like yours over the span of 2024 thats the plan we will mostly shoot music videos for it Just a question can you also put this completed rig on a gimbal like the DJI RS3 Pro ? Is that possible ?
Cheers mate! I have to say, I own the RS2 Pro, and I must strip it down to the body only to put it on the gimbal unfortunately, the whole rig definitely doesn't fit
okay this is great, love the rig! Question, does this feel a tad front heavy? Thats honestly the main reason I like running a v mount battery is for the balance, but what are your thoughts?
I'd say it's more top heavy that front or back heavy, mainly due to the screen, but so far I've had no problems, I must say though, you do tend to swap batteries every 2 hours, considering the main one is in the camera (1 hr per battery in the grip)
Thanks for the video. I have a question, why are you using an external monitor even though the 6K pro has a monitor that you can pull out anyway. Do you have a better overview this way? Wouldn't it be better to buy the 4K right away, it costs about half and then you can still add an external monitor
Great question. So there’s a couple reasons to this, I chose the 6K Pro over the 4K because of the Super 35 Sensor, EF Mount and Built in ND’s, all things just more suited to my workflow. You’re definitely right, the built in screen is fantastic, and especially useful when I use the rig without the top screen it comes in handy. However a lot of handheld work I do, results in the camera being place in a more suitable position where I can just look at the top screen compared to having the bottom screen folded out. Also, when I am filming myself. I do mount the screen ontop of the camera facing me. So I can look and see what the footage looks like. Rather than setup a whole big monitor setup or guess for focus and composition. The pocket 4K despite all the specs aside. Doesn’t have a folding out screen. So when I am using the camera completely stripped (for travel for instance) it’s much harder to film without a folding screen. Hope that explains it!
Cheers! I'm not too sure honestly in terms of KG, I built this a long time ago. I'd say it's heavy enough to remove micro jitters when using the rig handheld, but I'd recommend using an EasyRig or cinesaddle with it
Hey Josh, I can assure you it's the full cage for the Blackmagic 6K Pro from tilta. I have it in the half rig configuration as this is necessary in order to mount the battery grip into the cage too
Yeah that is correct! The left and right side of the rig at the top are separable, which means you don’t have to use the battery grip component to just huge the half rig setup. I often use the half cage for travel in fact!
it looks less riging but still its too much for many middle-class family boy/girl dreaming to have this bmpcc 6k pro. the body itself is too costly for many indian students,....at list for me .
I really like this setup, after all other setups V-mount etc...I find that the battery grip with a small cage is best.
It’s definitely unique!
Thank you so much for this information. Exactly what I was looking for.
and thank you for watching! :)
I love this minimalist setup. It’s everyone one would need.
cheers!
I like this video it’s quick and straightforward with alot of good helpful tips and details

Nice and simple. I've just completed my Pocket 4K Rig, so now I'm on to purchasing the 6K and want it just as simple as you have it.
Nice! Sure will be a great upgrade that's for sure!
Nice and clean. I'm on the fence between the 4K and the 6K pro. This is the cleanest rig out i've seen with the pro yet.
Glad you like it! I really have to say the 6K has the edge for me and is worth it, but depends the lens system you want to go with :)

I do have the EVF, but haven't used it as much I must say! It's still awesome though!

I recommend getting an IR filter as well. Other than that I like what you have done here.
Very true! Cheers!
Is the 6K G2 the same size as the 6K Pro ? This rig should work on the G2 as well ??
Yes it is! Same same, with no ND filters to my understanding!
Nice setup and presentation. One question that came to mind. How do you mount a microphone on your rig?
Cheers! I do it by attaching the mic to the cold shoe mount on the top of the mic handle
@@DesignedbyKirk Thanks for your reply. But, how do you do that if the monitor is mounted as well and is in the way?

Does the feelworld monitor still let you film 6k 50 raw, even though its input is only a 4k hdmi?
Yep, the output is only graphical and it's not a recorder. Recording is done straight to the CFAST card
@@DesignedbyKirk thank you so much for the fast reply!! Im really new to this, thank you for helping

Thanks for the video! The mount you use for the monitor, can it also hold a mic, or is there a cold shue already on the rig?
There is a cold shoe on the top handle so you can put a mic there. Or there is also a cold shoe on my side handle too
@@DesignedbyKirk thanks a lot. I never see people talk about what mics they would use with this camera, is there any specific reason why?
Stabilization? How? without the Cam having an internal Picturestabilization?
None in the camera, I use Gyro in davinci resolve, or rely on my handheld movements
where did u get everything from ?
Predominantly Amazon, and some local video stores here in my hometown Melbourne
bro awesome video! how heavy is now? cause my setup is heavier so i asking to compare?

what is the total cost of the rig?
I'd say just under $2k with everything and the lens included (but no body). $5k with the camera body
you can also use SanDisk Extreme Pro 1TB , is cheaper
Not a fan of having lot's of cables hanging outside of the rig
@@DesignedbyKirk is 1TB SD card 🤓
The rod holder is so cool, but I can not find one from smallrig. Does someone know if it fits on the smallrig cages for the 6k/pro?
Unfortunately no, it's a Tilta product and will only work with this Tilta cage
@@DesignedbyKirk i guess i have to find another solution then... Thank you!
How can i use my 4k monitor using 4k cable while im recording 6k on the BMPCC? When i switch to 6k on my camera my monitor shows nothing.
mind re-phrasing that question? not 100% sure what you mean here
Wait is that a half Tilta rig?! Whenever I type in 'Full rig' it doesnt show me the one you have lol
Hey Josh, I can assure you it's the full cage for the Blackmagic 6K Pro from tilta. I have it in the half rig configuration as this is necessary in order to mount the battery grip into the cage too

Are sure the rods are 30cm long?
I believe so!
I seem to have issues with npf battery’s…. Cam will just turn off and stuff ever have that issues
very strange!
Do you have links? Can't find the half cage with the battery grip adapter on Amazon.
Hey there, the half cage is just the Full cage from the 6K Pro from Tilta, it comes with both the half cage and full cage for the battery grip :)
Hi! Do you have the exact link for each of that setup? I'm in Canada.
Hi Roxane, sorry I don't but you should be able to search up the product names no problem
This is compatible with the G2?
Yes sir! Same body shape!
Hey, how long does the battery last with the battery grip?
About 2.5 hours I'd say!
@@DesignedbyKirk thank you for quick response!
Can it fit on rs4 pro gimbal?
Haven't tried it, but the 6K Pro barely balances without counter weights on the RS2
how much whould it all cost
About 5K AUD
What the estimated battery life?
About 2-3 hours
what inch are 15mm rods?
20cm I believe!
4:3 aspect ratio?
That’s right!
@@DesignedbyKirk old school. I like it.
You don’t need that matte box. Take that off and it’ll be minimal.
I do, lens flare can be a huge problemo
are the 15mm rods 30 cm or 20 cm? my dumbass bought 40 cm 💀
