  • Hello all, this video of mine that I made, with my footage that i took ,of me disassembling an old surround sound, woofer speaker, that my mate was going to be throwing out , is about sharing to you ,what I saw inside it, during the disassembly of it.

    this is a ported box, the size of the box in corellation with the length and diameter of the tube amplifies a certain frequency . this allows for peak db and better sql of certain bass notes from the subwoofer. if this was a sealed box the bass response would have a flat response. the ported box can swell say 35 hz then rolls off after that . the reason for ported boxes is to allow more sql using less speakers. the box is slightly larger but you get some deeper notes before the roll off frequency is reached. this probbaly amplifies the 35 hz frequency for a deeper bass note that goes well with action scenes in most movies.

    It is basically a thick cardbord box with a toiletroll and a 12 € speaker and a few hobby wires :)
    Would be cool to add in a modern driver for 75 € and see what it can do.
