Dude, you’re the best. Trust me. At this point I have watched about 50 different videos from 20 different creators on cameras for video creation however, your video is the best among all. First of all you rejected the Sony ZEV 10, And then you recommended To go into mid range if someone is using an iPhone and trust me, I was so convinced that I was going to buy Sony ZEV 10. I’m so glad I found your video.
I bought Sony Zve10 and sigma 27mm 1.4 for my studio & TH-cam video shoot and 85mm 1.8 for outdoor portrait shoot, i'm happy with this setup for right now. I spend only 1500 for my setup.
Wanting to start filming videos for TH-cam and you just saved me $600… just going to stick with my iPhone 13 Pro Max for now until I can get a mid ranged camera 🤷♂️🙌 I knew this but was being stubborn and needed a reminder to not be stupid. APPRECIATE IT!!! 💖💕💖
Yeah. I have money, but $1000-$2000 is a mortgage payment.... I just can't justify it right now. I want to start making short films, but idk. $1500 for a camera $1000 for lenses.... Lighting, sound, actors, renting spaces.... We are talking over $10k easy.
So Peter Gregg told me that when you do not have a flippy screen on a camera but a tilt screen just make sure the microphone and video is recording then when facing the camera just look at the bulb in the lens and talk to it. That way you are not looking away from the camera and at that flippy screen which people will notice. That is why Casey Neistat wears sunglasses when vlogging. Cheers! BTW make sure when vlogging the lens is wide enough and that it isn't a macro. 😉
@@23inchesolives84 So can you tell by watching people if they are looking to the side or at the camera. Can you tell if someone is using a teleprompter. I can and it's annoying. That is the point I am making. You have to train yourself to not look at yourself and look at the center of the lens when recording. Just make sure you hit the record button, have your mic plugged into the input all of the way and not in the headphone input. LOL! This User Error Fellow (ME) has done these mistakes many times and You would think after 1600 videos I can get my Act together. Cheers!
Hi, my English is terrible and I apologize if I say things that are not true. But why in the video there is no or very little talk about the ridiculous stabilization of Sony cameras? Panasonic Lumix have an amazing stabilization. In video in general and for those who make documentaries like me, stabilization is very very important. I have been using cameras for 40 years and I have found the stabilization of Panasonic very nice. Thanks for some info.
Loved the video concept but how do you leave off the Black Magic Pocket 4k - Full frame 6k? They are the perfect camera for beginner film makers. We’re you only going for hybrid cameras here or am I missing the point of the video? Not trying to be a jerk just thinking if you are targeting beginners the Black Magic line of cinema cameras are the perfect solution for creators. If it’s targeting content creators then I totally get it. If so please disregard my comment. Again, thank you for posting. Aside from my point the video is awesome! Thank you
So I own all of the Nikon Mirrorless cameras and I stayed away from the Z8 because of price but with in three week span I bought two Zf's which now have Smallrig L-Grips, Z8 and a used Z9 and I use the Z8 more that the Z9 because of the weight. Panasonic S5II is two hundred grams less and the Zf is twenty grams lesser but I love the features on the Z8. Also I take my Zf and Zfc everywhere I go. Peter Gregg does the same with the ZV-E1. This video is way too underrated and extremely helpful. Thank you for all the effort that went in! Especially that you call bad aspects as they are - this is the most important criterium for me. The graphics are also great to get an overview, screenshot or note the options. All the important stuff made compact, amazing! Keep it up :)
The Z30 is a great camera but where I live it does overheat if you record video for more than 40 minutes in 4k 30. I just did a comparison with the Z30 and the R10 which I own which also includes the ZV-E10 (2ea) they are great cameras. Love the grip and handling for the Nikon and Canon. The R50 which I loved was too small and I kept pressing the wrong button which is the same for the two ZV-E10's. Since I live in a warm climate I bought one ZV-E10 in White color and I get a lot more people interested in the camera when using it. Cheers!
I will say the the Canon R8 is so Lightweight it is unbelievable. It does overheat but I use it sparingly. It is a great family camera. I have even used the Vello Battery Grip inteded for the Canon EOS RP but works with the R8 which gives longevity with the small batteries. Only problem in using the Third Party Grip is that I had to rig a small piece of cardboard paper into the battery compartment to keep the battery installed. The stem from the Vello did something inside so I have to do this every time when streaming. I have had no problems with the Canon Batteries staying in the compartment. Cheers!
Hi, excellent video! After watching your previous video about the X-S20 I decided to buy it, it has many advantages and gives me room to grow in the world of video. I recently purchased the Fujifilm 18-120 f4 PZ zoom. I haven't used it much yet, but I would be interested to know your opinion on this lens. I usually only use prime lenses but I wanted to have an all-in-one solution for travel and the motorized zoom seemed like a good option for video. Thank you for your content, greetings from Argentina!
Every budget you say, I was looking for something roughly decent and much lower in price, not all of us have £600 to drop on a camera and are just looking for something small and simple with some decent quality, maybe it's for a one time use on holiday or something or to record your kids playing the back garden for some good memories to look back on in the future.
I have been looking at the FX30 & A6700 but am going Full Frame that is why I chose the Panasonic S5II. This camera is Sharp and My favorite part is the Real Time LUT feature. I do not really care if there is a Crop in 4K 60 but the nice thing that this camera has is a fan already installed like the FX30 and You know why this feature is important for Me from the two previous comeents I made. Cheers!
Good stuff, just a bit surprised BMPC6K or the BMCC6K are not here. They are cinema cameras with incredible dynamic range and color. If someone wants to get into the field, they wouldnt have to care so much about their autofocus capability, which is weak. Their value for buck is insane high, murdering most of the cameras on this list. Yes cinema camera, most people might not be interested in that here, but for informational purposes it has to be highlighted. Even amateurs can benefit from it a lot, who are passionate about filmmaking and shooting great videos.
It seems quite clear after ~10 years of monitoring Camera market, that canon the most protective becomes on their high end cameras the most market share they loose. Sony clearly became the king of almost all aspects of photography and videography in just a few years, the question is for how long? Sony has been in the top 3 in many markets, TV, etc, and then disappear. Are they just trying to momentary squish the most profit in this market to then move into another more profitable? This may depend probably on Canon, nice camera race!
I love the menus of the S5II and the LCD Screen is much better than any Screen from Sony. The camera is heavy but the metal construction and the fan which is quiet. Lot of features that I am still exploring and learning since I usually use Nikon the most, I also have Sony, Canon too but never used a Fuji. Cheers!
I'm surprised the X-T4 didn't get a mention over the X-S10. Based on what i've read they're at a similar price point but the X-T4 appears to be superior in terms of specs - whereas the X-S10 seems to be preferred for ease of use.
@@pascalbasel That's interesting... I was under the impression the X-T4 was better optimised for video. With 10bit internal recording, F-log and 4k 60fps being the main pros. I haven't purchased either yet - but looking to upgrade soon. X-S10 is £500ish (used) and X-T4 is £700 (used) in the UK.
@@ItsJordaninnit Oh you're right. It's quite some time ago that U had the X-T4, so I forgot about the 10bit. 700 bucks is a pretty good deal I think, considering I'm not used to pounds.
You list as “Bad” a number of times when a camera crops but then you recommend a crop sensor camera. I do appreciate all the work you put into this and presenting a lot of info in a clear succinct way. Why do you only consider it a negative when a camera crops at high frame rates but you don’t mind if it is just a crop sensor?
Because a crop sensor camera keeps the same field of view, so you don’t have to change lenses or zoom and most of the time you still get oversampling or higher resolutions on crop sensor cameras (ex. 6.2K on X-S20).
@@pascalbasel I dont do a ton of high frame rate stuff but when I do, i am usually not just doing the same shot at a different frame rate. I'm usually setting up a whole new shot anyway, so keeping in mind that it is going to be cropped is only a minor inconvenience.
you just clutched up for me because i was going to narrow down the $1k-2k cams and i already knew i didnt want the panasonic because its not a good cam if youre moving around while shooting. now time to weigh my options while im in class tmrw lol
Nice vid!!! I am upgrading from the older M50. I want to buy and invest in a good system with budget limits. I would like a Hybrid Cam that I can use for street and outdoor photography and video production (online courses and TH-cam vlogging). If I wanted something around $2K for the body. Do I need Full-Frame? APS... I been looking at the Fujifilm and a few others. Best lenses for my TH-cam channel? Thoughts? Thanks!
i think nikon offers atm the best hybrid camera ever. The Z9 is better than the a1 in Videowork. Also the RAW possibility is just next level and you have 45mp for fotos. Yes the Z9 is really big but the z8 it is okay from the formfactor in my opinion. I disagree with the af from nikon you have writed it is not that good as sony and canon but i feel it is better than canon's particularly in videomode.
Learn how to professionaly grade color un davinci resolve and have good glass, buy fx30 and you dont need anything else, amateurs/consumers cant tell apart fx30 to arri or red if graded correctly !
I found that ZV-E1 with a few lenses was cheaper than the Fuji X-S20 here, at least with the prices in the UK and the premium you pay for X-mount lenses, e.g. - Sony ZV-E1 - £1.6k + £160 (28-60 kit lens) + £450 (Tamron 17-28) = £2,210 - Fujifilm X-S20 - £1.35k + £252 (18-55 kit lens) + £800 (Tamron 11-20) = £2,402
Good to compare also with lenses! Question is lens choice and quality. The Fuji 18-55 is widely regarded as "non kit" quality lens, don't know about the Sony one. Sony used to have quite more cheaper lens variety, nowadays you have sigma, viltrox and some tamrons on Fuji. And I bought great Fuji lenses cheap second hand. Unless wide angle is key I would not see Fuji lagging behind our being more expensive on the same quality but I am interested in other opinions. I'd say lens choice and quality is really important if one spends already quite some bucks on mid range bodies
i believe he was just going by what hes done reviews on or was able to use and then speaking generalities. its very easy to forget about the a7cii honestly. a re-packaged a7iv with a few worse features and a few better depending on what you do makes or breaks the deal
@@frostgodx Considering the pricedifference between the A7IV and the A7CII and the compactness of the A7CII it is worth to mention. I use a Lumix S5, but for travel I would use the A7CII without a doubt over any cameras mentioned here. With the new AI AF features and the FF sensor that is a really amazing camera.
Not really, can’t change lenses, have crops or subsampling etc. I‘ll probably get one but just for fun, photos and as a light travel b-cam but I wouldn’t consider it as a first camera.
Great video as usual. I need a camera for real estate where often I'm in low light. I have the Sony AR111 which I find very disappointing for video so I was looking at the A7iv but have always been drawn to the Fuji X-H2s. Is there much difference in low light performance? Would love your opinion.
So I do auto detailing and car Audio, looking to get a camera to film some cinematics of my work. What do you recommend? No price range just whatever you recommend!
So there are some cameras that are out of my price range but I would like to mention that the Nikon Z6II would be great for Video and streaming. No flippy screen but I did buy me a Hot Shoe Reflector to see the settings and Myself while recording. It is on sale in the US for $1255 from Adorama Used. Cheers!
Personally for me, it was a close call between the S5II and the ZV-E1, I think the S5II makes for the greatest value professional studio camera right now. However, if you are a solo creator filming yourself and you also want a camera to take on trips, run and gun, etc without other equipment, the Sony ZV-E1 has some advantages and why I ended up with one: 1. Stabe - stabilisation is not in the same universe, you have motion data for gimbal like in post or dynamic active for straight out of camera, there are no weird corner/image wobbles with wide lenses like on the S5II, it's totally game changing. 2. Autofocus - while the S5II is definitely a huge leap vs the non phase detect systems, the AI chip in the ZV-E1 is something to behold, other than things like animal, bird, insect, etc being much better, it detects a person and face much further, in far more conditions, in low light and it can predict where a person will be to pre-focus there, you can register a face for it to always prioritise (e.g. yourself or a bride), it's incredible. It's hard to use anything else when you've experienced it. 3. Portability - it's tiny, it's smaller than an A7C while giving you the same sensor as the FX3/A7SIII and the same AI chip as the A7R V, that's incredible. 4. Rolling Shutter - 5ms vs 20ms+, it's just a much better camera for hand held non studio stuff, run and gun, etc if you're not using a gimbal - if you are using a gimbal, the S5II crushes it though. 5. Low Light - the second dual native ISO12,800 gives you the same quality and noise levels as ISO640 but with a fraction of the light (tested by CINED), that's insane, that's 4+ stops or 20x less light for the same quality. In terms of practically what it means is you get the same noise with a 20W COB light and some 5W LED lights as a 400W COB light and 100W panel lights - that gives you a lot of flexibility as a solo creator filming in different environments and conditions and allows you to reduce the weight of your kit 6. SlowMo 4K - 4k60 no crop, 4k120 only 10% crop, great for wildlife and sports, very fun to have. But the S5II has dual card slots, 6K open gate, raw, no overheating, full size HDMI, much better screen, viewfinder, etc, etc, etc - a much better camera in many ways, but ones that may be less important specifically for 1 man content creators, especially on the go, food for thought! :)

@@pascalbasel I dont do a ton of high frame rate stuff but when I do, i am usually not just doing the same shot at a different frame rate. I'm usually setting up a whole new shot anyway, so keeping in mind that it is going to be cropped is only a minor inconvenience.
I’m looking my first proper camera for beginner amateur photo/videography, iv narrowed it to the Fuji xs20 and Sony a6700, what would you recommend?
Both are great cameras, just look what specs are more important for you.
you just clutched up for me because i was going to narrow down the $1k-2k cams and i already knew i didnt want the panasonic because its not a good cam if youre moving around while shooting. now time to weigh my options while im in class tmrw lol
Can you recommend the Sony a7iii
Not for video
I am looking for a camera to make mini music videos or clips for instagram and TikTok. My main option is the ZV-E1. Thoughts?? What should I get??
just buy a oss lens for the ZV E10 and ist the best budget camera. Don´t understand your point
We live in a time of great choices.
I found that ZV-E1 with a few lenses was cheaper than the Fuji X-S20 here, at least with the prices in the UK and the premium you pay for X-mount lenses, e.g.
- Sony ZV-E1 - £1.6k + £160 (28-60 kit lens) + £450 (Tamron 17-28) = £2,210
- Fujifilm X-S20 - £1.35k + £252 (18-55 kit lens) + £800 (Tamron 11-20) = £2,402
That's wild, thanks for letting us know 👍🏻
Good to compare also with lenses!
What about the Sony 7cII?
i believe he was just going by what hes done reviews on or was able to use and then speaking generalities. its very easy to forget about the a7cii honestly. a re-packaged a7iv with a few worse features and a few better depending on what you do makes or breaks the deal
@@iammz81 I agree
Would love your opinion/a review on the Nikon Zf, it looks so awesome
Would love to test it if Nikon would send one ;-)
not sure why people are such fans of the retro lines the grip on the zf is so so bad why would you want to revert half a decade of ergonomics
would you say the fuji x100vi is a good video camera in the mid range?
Not really, can’t change lenses, have crops or subsampling etc. I‘ll probably get one but just for fun, photos and as a light travel b-cam but I wouldn’t consider it as a first camera.
Thank you for the quick response! Ill look more into your reccs then :)@@pascalbasel
I got my Sony A7 RV what about it
Great video as usual. I need a camera for real estate where often I'm in low light. I have the Sony AR111 which I find very disappointing for video so I was looking at the A7iv but have always been drawn to the Fuji X-H2s. Is there much difference in low light performance? Would love your opinion.
Both should be fine if you use fast lenses.
Thanks for your reply, more videos please.

What camera and lens you used to shoot this video ?
X-H2S & Viltrox 13mm F1.4
So I do auto detailing and car Audio, looking to get a camera to film some cinematics of my work. What do you recommend? No price range just whatever you recommend!
did you watch the video??
I was dead set on the canon r8, because I already own a gimbal. But now I’m really second guessing 😭
Why? What camera did u get??
a7siii@@kenduejones
@@ChrisHowell870 how u like it so far?
best video camera ive ever used, period!@@kenduejones
Nice@@ChrisHowell870
So there are some cameras that are out of my price range but I would like to mention that the Nikon Z6II would be great for Video and streaming. No flippy screen but I did buy me a Hot Shoe Reflector to see the settings and Myself while recording. It is on sale in the US for $1255 from Adorama Used. Cheers!
can you tell me why you did not pick a camera from black magic?

Personally for me, it was a close call between the S5II and the ZV-E1, I think the S5II makes for the greatest value professional studio camera right now. However, if you are a solo creator filming yourself and you also want a camera to take on trips, run and gun, etc without other equipment, the Sony ZV-E1 has some advantages and why I ended up with one:
In terms of practically what it means is you get the same noise with a 20W COB light and some 5W LED lights as a 400W COB light and 100W panel lights - that gives you a lot of flexibility as a solo creator filming in different environments and conditions and allows you to reduce the weight of your kit
Hi Pascal! Between r6 ii and H2s? For H2s I’m scared on autofocus 😅 for canon I’ m scared of dynamic range and codec but I love the handling! Any suggestions? 😊
It's really up to what you like better. Regarding autofocus on the X-H2S, I just turn eye tracking off but face tracking on and it works great without any issues.
@@pascalbasel thank u!!!🙏
I think i will go to he h2s.. i prefer the r6 ii body and i find it more refined but at the end i think i prefer much more the S35 look and all the video goodies that came with h2s.for the lenses I though to start with 18 and 33 1.4 LM.. have u ever tried? I read that someone had problem with manual focus with these lenses .. any advice? Thanks a lot for your patience. 🙏@@pascalbasel
I got the fuji :) now I just have to commit to telling beautiful stories like you, thank you for the positivity you put in your videos!@@pascalbasel
What about sony a7 c mark 2?
Essentially an a7iv for a lower price.
Where is the Black magic 6k pro and so on ? they are also a top range video cameras???

Nikon Z6iii is also now available.
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K??????

What about iphone 15?
Nothing from Blackmagic?

U forgot to add Lumix s5iix sir😩
It’s the same as S5ii + ProRes. So I didn’t mention that extra. Great camera though.
You already knew about it though. No need to mention it.
Lumix s5iix easy
The S5 is clearly in the wrong bracket.
I have a question brother i am beginner and i have no knowledge about camera's but i want to do cinematography plus travel vloging with a good story telling Suggest me please i want to invest my money on iphone or a camera but the condition is i have budget of 750 us dollars please suggest me brother❤️
Just watch the video, he answers your questions there😉
So I upgraded to the Canon R6M2 from the R6 because of overheating but still a great camera and tI chose the ZV-E1 over the A7CII since I already owned the A7C. Now I am deciding between the A7IV & A7CII because of the Front and Back Dials. I have small lenses for street photography and do a lot of car vlogging videos which makes the smaller camera more likely. Or I just keep what I already have and look forward to the Big Boys (45 mp and up) Canon R5M2, Sony A7R5. I own the Nikon Z8 & Z9 and are happy with those cameras. Do not care for 8k much but I do downsample quite a bit and at 4k the videos look awesome.
Iphone 15 pm and s23 ultra is bad in low light 4k 60p sensor is too small as a videographer
Hallo, I hope you can help me! (Bitte! Bin leicht am verzweifeln! :P)
I'm going to travel the world for a whole year and I want to shoot Vlogs, Travel Videos, Interviews and film some schools and crafts around the world.
I do know, that the A7iii is a good Foto and Videocamera, but I dont know if i should upgrade it. My budget is around 3-4k, maybe more, if I could sell my A7iii.
I would mainly focus on Videografie but ofc i would take some fotos.
Which Camera would you Buy?
I was thinking of 3 lenes, 20mm for Vloggins, 20-70mm f2.8 to cover the various other situations.
I really dont know if i should buy a APC Camera, and than buy the lenses, like the FX30 or the Fuji you recommend. PLEEEEAAAASE HELP!!
BIIITTe :D
i wouldnt travel with a full frame camera and lenses, they are too heavy and big
get an A6700 its same sensor as FX30
at the same price do you suggest XS20 or A6700? i like SOOC film recipes of fuji but prefer sony autofocus
both photo and video paired with sigma 18 50
going to vietnam the XS20 doesnt have weather sealing, is that bad?
The ZV-E1 Active Dynamic Stabilization is second to none
The G9ii has better stabilization with a much smaller crop (10% vs 35%)
You didn't look at my message to like almost an hour after I told you
The S5 ii/x is more Semi professional than the A7iv😂😂😂
I‘d get this or the S5ii over the a7iv.
The video still great but trying to “make fun” of people that want a camera for an entry level is not that cool.
Where did I do that?
@@pascalbasel When you were talking about not going in the "entry level". But again, great video.
@@KingJosuca That's not making fun. That's serious advice meant to save people money as buy cheap = buy twice happens a lot.
S5ii is best 40 degrees celsius no overheating others trash
sorry but entry level is under a 1000$ theres nothing taht sounds entry level about that that is a major purschase
