  • A fantastic announcement and a first for any Shuttleworth air show was the addition of two French-owned warbirds: Spitfire FR.XIV, RM927 - owned by W Air Collection and F4U Corsair owned by Les Casques de Cuir.
The two aircraft are rarely seen at UK shows, but have also both recently featured at the first ever Sywell Air Show last weekend. With huge credit to the Shuttleworth Collection, they managed to convince the pilots to spend one more week in the UK to display at their Festival of Flight weekend!

Fantastic display from these two, saw it both days. They also took off directly over my head as I was cycling home, perfect!

That Spitfire sounds amazing. A deeper engine note than a Merlin.

One thing that it so American is that a lot of US WW2 fighters are really quite a bit bigger than the enemies and allies like this Spitfire. Big honking trucks with huge radials. The P-47 is the epitome of course.

Amazing display from both on both days ( p.s. I was in the white marquee full of model aircraft).

How did the Corsair start its display? Was there a loop before that first topside?

On every Festival are "Standard" Planes, but were are the P-39`s and P-63`s ? Are they so rare or were they so bad ?

Well, there are none operating in the UK, perhaps even in Europe.
Most are in the United States.

@@AviationHighlights The Hawker Tempest and Hawker Typhoon are not so often shown on Festivals.

There aren’t any flying Hawker Typhoons in the world, and the only current airworthy Hawker Tempest hasn’t flown since October last year - hopefully it will be up again soon though!

@@AviationHighlights The Tempest II was originally billed to fly at the Shuttleworth Festival but, unfortunately, wasn't ready in time. Great show though nevertheless - as always at Old Warden. Was there on Saturday and the weather was perfect. Great video BTW, thanks.
