    Thank you again for this amazing lesson Carl. I’m revisiting it after several years. I was too much of a beginner to try it and it seemed impossible. I love this song very much and now I feel like I am good enough to start putting it together and I am so grateful that you made this lesson. Thank you Carl

      I do the same thing. I’ll try a song and then come back years later when I’m a lot better. It’s so satisfying! This is a tough one but I’m starting to pull it off.

      Briliant. Carry on mate (I'm from UK innit). The tip at 12:35 about rhthm is game changingfor me, as I wanted to cover this (I am a one piece) but couldn't work out how to get an acceptable backing track of my own as this is what I do- I record me doing many of the guitar parts in Ableton then play other parts over it live. This tip has just given me the perfect idea, as I can have a clean electric tone for the rythm, a recorded track of the acoustic picking, and I will be ready to unleash the solo and back again. Thank you!

    Nashville Tuning? Why not? Gilmour (or Waters, who sometimes played acoustic guitar in the studio) used high strung tuning I believe also known as Nashville tuning. D'Addario makes a nice set of these so there's no guessing to how or what strings to use. And sounds so authentic to this song and gives the guitar a 12 string sound with 6 strings.

    • @morganchatsworthiii9178
      @morganchatsworthiii9178 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any idea what gauges strings are in the D'Adddarios? Seems like every set I see, have a way too thick #6 string, for this song? Thanks

    "Nashville high-string tuning" is an approximation of the sound of a 12-string guitar on a 6-string. The low E, A string, D string, and G string are removed and replaced with light-gauge strings tuned an octave higher than standard. The B and high E are kept standard.

  • @tjnugent62
    @tjnugent62 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nashille tuning. He used the high strings from a 12 string set on the D,A and E strings tuned to 12 string pitch.

      if you're still looking for a solution, just play the normal d chord with the high e open instead. sounds great. make sure you don't play the low e or a strings or it'll sound awful! in other words, just play what he's playing but don't worry about the fingering with your pinky and ring fingers
