Very true....and you'd probably NOT be surprised how many people just can't seem to get that right. I think it's a Law around here that all developers have to bulldoze off all the land features and natural lay until what''s left is dead flat.....and below grade..... then build roads and houses on it, then shrug their shoulders at the end when the streets are pumping and the houses all have drainage issues. Also not surprisingly, the inspectors are all goose-stepping right along with them like it's all good.
I liked your drone pilot house, lol, I bet Jerry was shaking his head while you was laying on the dirt pile filming him. Wish I lived closer, I love running a dozer, me and Jerry would keep you as as camera man 🤣 Thanks Mike
A new Day a new Work. It is a Yard Ground to plane round a raw shell of Building. You walk round in the House, then a gulp Pepsi and the green Deere beginning the Earth to shift. To a long Time is all straight and you content. The video to show what great work that is. Greeting 🇦🇹
I don't know why I never noticed before but that really is a military machine it's got lifting eyes for helicopter or crane to load it or take it wherever it needs to be!!
Wow concrete ain't cheap and there piles of extra all over the place. I guess i was raised to frugal, no matter the concrete job, we always had a spot to utilize the leftovers.
Hey Mike, I know it is your job and your life and not mine, but if I were the one putting up the dirt that close to the house, you would have to have the carpenter and siders back to redo everything that I destroyed with the machine. Great job and your skills are showing and I for one really appreciate what you can do. Thanks, J.R.
No matter what you have to do “Yard Work” sucks, unless your in a hammock drinking something cold and watching it get done 😉 Good job on getting that place in shape, clumps of dirt definitely doesn’t make it easy. 👍😉
The man and his machines! QUESTION: When you talk in your sleep and say, "I LOVE YOU DEAR / DEERE" and 'JENNA' hears you, what must she think? This house looks much better after GRADING. Nice job GUYS (NY & ALL!) Nice WIDE shot of the grading giving the full effect. NOTICE how "gracefully" the soil 'flows' from the blade with 'JERRY' at the controls! "IMPRESSIVE"! Sonny
I had no idea what to expect when you were digging up what looked like a nice grassy lawn. It was looking really ruff in the drone view. And honestly, I had to skip past the close up to the house view, you were making me really nervous 😬. In the end, the whole lot looked so much better!!
Nice job with that D4 , That's a good thing about that hydrostatic drive . I could never get that close without doing some damage . Awesome to see . Great skill level .
It sure helps to have a good eye, or two, lol, when grading big areas. I worked HVAC for 5 years and when I and the other trades happen to be on the same house at the same time, and at lunchtime my carpenter friend said, " you hung that main trunk duct very straight in the basement". I crossed my eyes as hard as I could and looked over at him and said, as serious as I could, " I do ok considering...." He almost spit his food out and I had everyone laughing their ass off! That was a fun day. Take care
Well I have to say that green machine is one beast and I ain't never seen one push that much dirt that dent that much of a distance and it's a awesome machine seems to be that y'all do really good work I enjoy watching people that they're not afraid to video the construction world video what they do on a normal basis each and every day each and every week and the outcome I bet we'll look phenomenal and I really like it y'all do great work and y'all stick to the plan and I enjoy the videos the ones that I have seen the ones I have not I've been watching a lot of the work that Chris has been doing rebuilding the pond making the pine I enjoy both sides and I think that I have a friendship between two parties that does pretty much similar the same type of work is pretty awesome I enjoy the work enjoy the video that you are doing it looks really really nice thank you dirt perfect for sharing the video I enjoyed it
That's always a good start when the truck with the mud gets stuck or rolls over on the job site. At least you had the 850 there and you didn't have to bring a machine in. I was worried about that when I saw you pull in the grass with the low bed and the 850 on the deck in the last video. I miss working in the dirt. Those are some good memories.
The amount of movement in all the separate parts amazes me. The maintenance on a bull dozer must be largely unknown. The dirt that packs into it all. The amount is staggering. Good job.
Mike didn't explain the introduction of Jerry when he took over the drone. But I have to point out the amount of dirt pushed increased dramatically, and the level field improved dramatically with the operator change. I'm not taking ANYTHING away from DP's skills. It is just amazing what that old man can do on a dozer. I saw the utility video dig on Captain's channel and that property turned out perfect. Good group effort, CHEERS!
But DP did such a good job running the drone while Jerry worked. Must have tuckered himself out the day before when he worked most of the day. Still, under his supervision it did come out rather nice! Have fun and keep up the good work!!
@@Peter89133 Undeniable skills all around. Word on the street is that Mike is getting out of the dirt biz to hone his camera skills. lol. Look for an upcoming Pepsi commercial. 🤣
I dont drive a dozer but move them and operate other kit; man my butt cheeks were clenching when you got near that house!!!!🤣 Quite often drive 25/30 tonne 6 wheel bendy dumpers on tight new housing estates in the UK and around new industrial units; got to be confident and know your machine. Great work and great content ;-)
Wow, the 850J will push a pile of dirt. On one of the pushes it looked like an entire load for my Peterbilt 335 with 10 yard dump bed! Great video! Lee
Lying down on the job! Clay! good for lots of dirt work but it sure wont let plants grow - I tried. The finish on this project will look great now the ground work is done. Close work to the buildings is a practiced skill - good video on different aspects of dozer work.
Turn your flapper around on your exhaust, after replacing many of them on my farm tractors, i did that and rarely even bent one, and i didn't notice any difference in noise or fumes. I ran all open station till my last tractor.
It's amazing how the same type of work is done with different equipment across the country. I used to do jobs just like this out West with a dozer and loader. Then one day my dozer broke and the only thing available to rent was a Cat 613 scraper. After that one job, I started looking for a scraper buy. Never looked back. Easy to load and haul, easy to run, move lots of dirt. Bit of a rough ride, though. Thanks for all you do.
Hey Mike, top soil removal thought: You mentioned that after a full blade path, you keep taking 1/2 blade cuts after that because it works the best stripping the top soil. Would it be better if you skip over a 1/2 blade path so that your next paths are always full blade cuts . and then come back and push off all of the remaining 1/2 blade paths at the end or is it the same amount of work (example: strip Full, skip 1/2 in between, strip full, skip 1/2 in between, strip full, come back and strip skipped halves)!
That insulation seems to be very good. That type of insulation would fit well here with me. I live in Sweden, in a place called Vidsel and which is much further north than even Yellowknife in Canada. We have cold winters almost 7 months a year.
Impressive work. Funny, saw some tracks in the dirt that looked like someone might have nearly gotten stuck in a semi.😁 Oh, and my wife got me a set of those ISO tunes hearing protector things a couple of months ago, I can now hear my phone ring when operating the old noisy tractor, and they have enough battery life to work all day, unlike some others I've tried.
Really liked how u talked about ur method of stripping. Would be helpful to some of us young operators that don’t have much exp when u do that and maybe talk about some how u work the blade so it doesn’t dig to deep and keep it all even and what not. I’ve watched other ppl and the main diff is to me is how u talk about what’s goin and discuss the plan of workin the job and ur methods that have worked. Keep ‘em coming bud! Merry Xmas.
As a then newly built home owner on clay soil like in this video, I'd like to say that subsoil or a mix of it and top soil DOES grow grass, eventually! It takes some effort, like watering it and the straw covering the seed in dry spells. You also have to cover the raw clay on walkways (we used old chipboard sheets) until the grass starts to come in big time. Until then dealing with the clay can be a constant aggravation.
I have always liked the moving of dirt. It is always so amazing to me, the power of the machines and the knowledge of the operators. Jerry is just amazing as well as DP. I wish that I had had the opportunity to operate a dozer or excavator during my life instead of just watching. However, I do love watching! I am not an expert, but I think the cinematography that DP does is really cool. It makes the video very interesting. All of the guys on DP's vids are very talented. Thanks for making all your vids and please continue! God bless all of you and THANKS again.
Those ISO headphones are awesome, I have a set of ISOtunes pro 2.0 bluetooth earbuds that have hearing protection and love them. Great quality, and definitely worth the money with everything they provide. You do great work and make great videos keep it up.
Hey Mike !!! Too bad you didn't have a sod stripper there to keep the sod so you would have as much grass to replant when the job was done ?? Anyhows, great job !!! Have a good week & ""KEEP IT SAFE ""!!
Although Keith L already mentioned it, it's seriously impressive to see just how much dirt started to move when Jerry got behind the controls. Hope I get to shake his hand some day, and inherit some of those superhero skills.
if you need more practice I have a 20 acre hayfield on a slope .. rutted up and go's uphill before it go's back down hill lots of clay under it .. holds the water too much ,, only problem I am in NY ,, great video ,, keep them coming ..
You might want to adjust the turnbuckle blade strut a little shorter so that blade on the 850J won't gouge so much. I think the top of the blade needs to be closer to the radiator. Just my opinion.
I've got the ISO Tunes Pro2 at work. Super long battery life, good hearing protection, and still good audio. Batteries will last about 16 hours for me on a single charge. Super happy with them. The silicone ear pluggers work best for me. Can vary the amount of protection you want depending on how deep you push them in your ear canal.
Try tilting the blade and use the end bit to rip to the depth you want. Rip each furrow several feet apart at least as wide as your blade and then push the topsoil off that you want to stockpile. When I grow up... I wanna be an operator lika' Jerry! 👏🏽👍🏼☺️
Love watching you push with your dozers it's very calming. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah, all three guys! Take care.
Loved the provocative camera views in this episode. Helps keep the interest up.
Watching that dirt roll off the blade is kind of hypnotic.
LOL. I see you goofing off (Supervising?) on the dirt pile while Jerry worked Mike. If you wanted to hide you should have worn brown. 😂😂

The best shot Jerry running 850J as D.P lays on a mound of dirt flying the drone.
Just needed an umbrella while he was laid out on Topsoil Beach.

Big kudos on the stripping of topsoil, every contractor around us just buries it. Makes no sense. Another quality one. 🤙

Try tilting the blade and use the end bit to rip to the depth you want. Rip each furrow several feet apart at least as wide as your blade and then push the topsoil off that you want to stockpile. Hopefully not on a stage with music and lights. 😳
I absolutely agree, I use this very method for stripping as well as when trying to dry out a road bed so we can achieve compaction.
