Surviving 2 Under 2: A Stay-at-Home Dad Day in the Life

- It's a crazy story but this was the beginning of the rest of our lives.
1 year ago, I was a stay-at-home dad and it was by far the hardest job of my life.
Prior to this, I worked a 10 year career in construction but never loved it. I found passion for video production and started working towards making that a full time thing eventually. Meg and I decided that I would be able to go full time on my business once we were done having kids, so that's what happened.
We started having kids and Meg stopped working until we were done. After our second child, she went back to work and I quit my career to take care of the kids until our 2nd was 12 months and they both could go back to daycare (needed to build a stronger immune system).
So for 10 months, I stayed with the kids and did my best to keep them safe, well fed and well rested. The hardest part was that they were both under 2 years old, which meant they were both pretty much babies.
But that also made for some really fun days.
This video was filmed in October of 2021 so that was 18 months ago at this point. If you were to ask me now, what's harder: having 2 under 2 or a 3 year old and an 18 month. I might say the latter.

I rarely leave comments on TH-cam videos, but this was too relatable. My husband and I watch our two girls on alternating days because of our work schedules, and this is what our days look like too. Especially the part about trying to get out the door... It always takes WAY more work than you expect. Our girls are 2.5 and 7mo right now, so we get it! Great video, and great job with your boys.
Thank you for commenting then! Good to know that there are lots of other people in our shoes. It’s so easy to fall into the mindset of “I don’t even want to leave the house today” but it’s just so important. Keep up the great work, it will all pay off!
Well done!! I am stressed just by watching it lol
Thank you! :)
I feel you on those naptime calculations. You're doing such an awesome job!
Right! Those early months with 45 min -1.5 hr wake windows are so tough to thread the needle through!
Oh man I know how I felt so trapped at home when my daughter was in those early months. Even now as a 2 year old and 1 nap a day, those calculations are still in my mind haha
Awww ❤ we have six kids. I stay home. I love it so much. It can be hard but it’s worth it!
I was always so scared of two under two. 😩 I just knew I couldn’t handle it. You’re doing such a great job!!
Thank you! It is definitely tough but so rewarding at the same time ☺️
I wonder why this video took a year to upload 🤣.
This video makes me very hesitant about baby #2 haha.
It was almost left in the archive to die with all the other never to be seen videos but I knew I wanted to look back on it all one day so I’m glad I finally got it “good enough”
@@ActiveDad Yup I know exactly what you mean. Definitely a worthwhile video, looking forward to 2 & 3 video :)))
Ну вы круты!мне трудновато найти время для себя с одним ребенком,а вы с двумя такие активные !
Lex I don’t do that to me don’t do that I don’t hurt him
