Surviving 2 Under 2: A Stay-at-Home Dad Day in the Life
It's a crazy story but this was the beginning of the rest of our lives.
1 year ago, I was a stay-at-home dad and it was by far the hardest job of my life.
Prior to this, I worked a 10 year career in construction but never loved it. I found passion for video production and started working towards making that a full time thing eventually. Meg and I decided that I would be able to go full time on my business once we were done having kids, so that's what happened.
We started having kids and Meg stopped working until we were done. After our second child, she went back to work and I quit my career to take care of the kids until our 2nd was 12 months and they both could go back to daycare (needed to build a stronger immune system).
So for 10 months, I stayed with the kids and did my best to keep them safe, well fed and well rested. The hardest part was that they were both under 2 years old, which meant they were both pretty much babies.
But that also made for some really fun days.
This video was filmed in October of 2021 so that was 18 months ago at this point. If you were to ask me now, what's harder: having 2 under 2 or a 3 year old and an 18 month. I might say the latter.

At just over 3 years old, “why” is as common as “snacks” and he won’t take “no” for an answer. We’re back and more curious than ever! Well, if this has to be the final video, it is a wonderful video to end with. I have found myself watching this video many times. Braden's love for his little brother is just too much. He loves sweet pa-to so much, I think I will have to give it another try myself. It has become one of my favorite things to say during the day - sweet pa-to! I am so happy that Chloe seems to like Braden now. She was wagging her tail when he was saying good-morning to her. Braden loves Chloe so much. I love that he kisses Mason on the forehead when he wakes up and kisses mom when she leaves for work. He always says bye to Mesa and Chloe every time he passes them by on his snowboard. Seeing him hugging Mason, rocking him in his car seat. It's so heart-warming. Braden is not happy when Mason isn't happy. That is so precious. Seeing a loving family is so special. I hate that this is the end of the road, but seeing as it is the day he had in this video, I get it - it is too hectic to be trying to video record it at the same time. I would love to see this resurrected - now that Braden is, what, maybe three years old? Maybe when they get a little older? By the way, loving seeing Kroger groceries!

Now I remember what got me to this channel in the first place. This was the first video I saw. There was an ad on The Weather Channel showcasing "Chasing Sage". It was so adorable, I had to go looking for more. Eventually, this was recommended for me and I haven't stopped watching since. I found this particularly interesting, especially after seeing the earlier videos. He clearly likes snowboarding. If he was hungry, he did have a candy bar. He is so adorable eating his cheese. What was really interesting was when he said "no pictures". Is it possible that even at that young age, he felt that he was being a disappointment? I don't know - just find it interesting. Was he tuckered out even from the beginning? Nevertheless, dad was able to get him comfortable again. But still, he was holding on to his straps. Just too tuckered out? No matter what, he is always adorable.

I broke down into tears the moment he said "brother". He instantly loved his little brother. Then on his own getting a stuffed lion cub for "Mesa" and giving him a kiss and hugging him. If we could just teach our children to love each other, how much better our world would be.

I think parents think the egg hunt is more important than the child does. He found a balloon animal and that was good enough for him.

Even the cinematography is incredible. Such beautiful scenery - in all the videos, not just this one. I like it when the children are in the videos - even if the video is about something else.

I even watch the product reviews to see Braden and even Chloe. I have never seen a little child eat before - so this is all new to me. The clips are priceless - Brady knocking over the cup twice in a row, Chloe waiting for food to fall from the table.

I have no idea why this channel was recommended to me, but I am so glad it did. For those of us who never had a family, this channel is a blessing. I wish it had continued. I would have liked to see the children growing up. I hear it takes 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of views to get monetized. I hear that can take months of posting with little success. It's a labor of love or else a solid conviction that the channel will grow. I did notice that there are so few likes compared with the subscribers and also which videos got the most views. I get it, if someone is looking for a review of something, they will find that video. But unless they have a reason to seek more of your videos, they take the information they were looking for and move on. I am glad you did what you did and I am glad that TH-cam has kept it going. I like and subscribe so that TH-cam will see some activity and not shut it down. If you have more videos of the children growing up (I assume you do), I personally would love to see them - but I realize, I am probably the only one who would. I guess I just love children - even if they aren't mine.

Even I cried watching this. Moving is very emotional. Seeing an empty home where once a little boy ran around in a Joovy. Saying goodbye is so hard. I remember when I moved from Chicago the the Antelope Valley and then back and then to NY. It's hard and emotional. Such a lucky dog and lucky little boy. I took that same route back to Illinois and passed by that same sign, but I was so depressed, I didn't even see the Grand Canyon. One of the greatest regrets of my life - along with not seeing the Golden Gate Bridge, Sequoia National Park, Arecibo, the Cross of the Christ and the crater in New Mexico when I had the chance (not all were my fault). How true it is that having nice things can "pierce you with many griefs". Nice things suck up the life you should be living.

Such breath-taking views. Truly the creation of God. If that isn't enough, Braden surely is enough to prove this. If that isn't enough, if family isn't enough, then nothing will convince.

What I love the most is that Brady has a front-stage pass. Despite getting scared at the Grinch, he is so loved by his parents. I can't have a baby, but I can try the pizza. I have tried pizzas before, but just can't get them to taste good - even though I use high-quality fresh ingredients.

What I think is important in this video is that this little boy will remember the affection, the smiles, the happy tone of voice, the laughter and that he has parents who love him dearly and love each other. He has a family. That is what he will internalize. Whether or not the hand and foot prints looked great isn't going to affect him.

After seeing the video about why we subscribed, I felt I needed to edit this comment. This video appeals to me because I have been planning on doing a similar video. The purpose may be different, but the outcome is similar. We have created for ourselves such a fast-paced society that we don't eat breakfast. I have relied on coffee for decades to get me through till lunch. This is very unhealthy. As I have been binge-watching TH-cam videos, living on my IRA, not working, one of the things I have been training myself to do is to get off of my addiction to coffee (as well as mixing in green and herbal teas and even home-made bone broth) and forcing myself to eat breakfast. But as I look to the future of returning to work where I will be out of the house all day, I have been looking for a way to make a fast breakfast. That is what my video is going to be about. We live in a fast-paced society, but I have come up with a breakfast, similar to this one, that can be made in minutes. I want to show people how to do that so that they have no excuse to not eat a proper breakfast. Donuts and Pop-Tarts are killing Americans. We have to stop this. Breakfast means "break fast" - you are breaking a fast that began from dinner and went throughout the night as you sleep. You have been fasting for many hours - almost half a day for some. If you eat dinner at 6 pm and get out of bed at 6 am, that is twelve hours! How can you not eat for yet another six hours? I have found something that satisfies my hunger for the most part right away and after about twenty minutes, my stomach has settled down and it doesn't make me drowsy. I find two eggs can make me drowsy. But either way, it is a high-quality breakfast that can be made in just a few minutes. This recipe takes a little longer, but can still be done within minutes. Toasting an English muffin takes much longer than what I propose - but it is still within the realm of a few minutes. This recipe can be done quickly - that is what appeals to me. But I intend to stress that point - my suggestion is meant to be a good breakfast that can be made, cooled down and eaten about as quickly as anything else I have found so far (but I have two other ideas that could work as well). My original comment was: "Great choice on the 18 pack of Kroger Simple Truth Organic eggs!" I will add this: I am a Kroger investor, so I am happy to see their products featured. I actually prefer Happy Eggs. Kroger may not be carrying it anymore, but Meijer has it (and I am not sure they are carrying it anymore either). I find most of these high-quality eggs are fantastic and the Kroger Simple Truth Organic eggs are at a very reasonable price compared to the others. Even Walmart can't beat the price because they don't have their own private label - yet. Anyway, I comment because I hope that this will get TH-cam to disseminate these videos to more people. I truly think this is the best channel I have found so far and am so sad that it didn't continue. Hoping for at least an update after several years.
