Ok folks, I’ve had a LOT of people ask why I’m using a mannequin with “thick” hair in this video and not a live model with actual thin hair. This video was filmed in the middle of the original pandemic lockdown. I’m sure you can understand why I couldn’t use a live model. Mannequin heads don’t come in thin textures.
Thank you so much for this video! What you said is spot-on, especially about only using texturizing scissors on the very ends. My guy (hair stylist) had to move away and he was the only one that ever cut my fine, thinning hair well. The first gal I tried after he left used DEEP point cutting on my hair and it looked horrible! It didn't lay right when it was straight, and I couldn't curl it without it looking like it had these strange twisting "hair fingers" for lack of a better term! It completely killed my confidence in myself. I never went back and I'm on my third hairdresser in two years trying to explain what I would like them to do, so I really appreciate this! Do you have any videos on how to cut thin, fine hair that is somewhere between collarbone length to just past the shoulders where you show how to actually cut the layers properly to give a little volume on top? I have an appt coming up and I would love to be able to show her what to do to achieve what I want because we can't quite get it right. I've shown her pictures, but that doesn't explain the technique. Thank you for all your efforts in helping us!
Thanks for tihs!! However I have thin, fine hair .... and it naturally falls in the middle no matter HOW hard, or for how many Years I've tried to train it to go one side or the other, How to stop it falling into a natural middle parting? I actually got my hairdresser to put 'bangs' in my hair ... (we call it a 'fringe' here in Oz) ... & that one thing helps to make my hair, or me .... appear more youthful, but at almost 70 ... I need more help than a fringe! I see a lot of 'old' women out there who go shorter as they age, but it seems to make them appear more masculine .. Any suggestions as to why this is?
You REALLY know fine hair. The problem is, not many stylists are educated about how to work with it. Even though I gave up on finding a stylist many many years ago (and I cut my own hair), I will try some of your tips. Thank you for the great advice and your excellent videos.
I find most hairdressers still cut hair as if working on the doll, they got no confidence to trust their own eyes.never been to a dresser who got it.i like the idea Vidal sassoon had to cut the hair so that when you just shake it it falls naturally into it's own cut, to the shape of the individuals face shape
But it’s not just about thin and fine, mine is also so straight it shows layers like steps and won’t hold any bend. No hairdresser has been able to create a style on my hair so I have to keep it one mid/long length.
Funny, just last week I chopped 4 inches off my long, fine hair. Using thinning shears on the very tips is a great idea! There's so much support out there for "Curly Girls" with their own Curly-specialist-stylists; I say now is the time for "Fine Girls" to get the support we need, too! ❤✂
Justin, your instruction about texturizing is the very best I have ever been exposed to!!! I am 81 with very short, fine wavy hair that is thinner (of course!) than it used to be. Like you said, I have had extremely bad experiences with stylists who "thinned" my hair and ruined it. It took forever for it to grow out to the point where I could do anything with it. Therefore, I do not allow anyone to touch my hair with a "thinning" scissor. I truly wish I could have you cut my hair b/c I would totally trust you to do it right. :) B/c I have such bad haircuts from the salons, I now cut my own hair (shudder!), but do as good a job as most of them do. I have learned so much from your teaching and knowledge, so THANK YOU for sharing as you do! You are one in a million.
Thank you so much!!!! I feel honored that you’d put that much trust in me! I really appreciate your support and that feedback made my day! Stay safe and we’ll!
Excellent! Fine hair women everywhere are thanking from the bottom of their hearts. I will definitely recommend your channel when given the opportunity.
I LOVE all this information!!! I have fine hair (but a lot of it) and I’m 66 years old, but don’t look it or feel it. I have always been interested in the fabulous world of hair! I am very thankful to have found this channel. The best way to describe my hair right now is a long pixie, and I don’t EVER want to be caught with “grandma hair”!! I love the edgier hairstyles. Thank you for all your styling tips and tricks I will be putting them to good use! 😉
THANK YOU Justin for giving us ALL the information about hair! I've been isolated for two years caring for my parents, and you've provided SO many ideas to maximize and have fun with my hair! Thank you for making life better! 😊
Wished your studio was near me , love- hate relationship all my life with fine straight hair. Decided to keep it in a pixie cut and give up. My stylist said I can carry pixie cuts better than most people. So are short cuts really not good for fine straight hair. BTW , I'm now in my 70s and my hair won the fight.
Subscribed! I have really really straight, thin hair! NO hairdo ever stays in place! ugh I hate it! It's the gift and the curse of super straight hair..... Thank you for your tips!
That ends-only texturizing is amazing. My new hairdresser scared me when she aggressively texturized the ends of my fine hair but it now has volume that it didn’t have before.
I truly enjoyed your video. I actually have alopecia so I have fine and thin hair. I had a stylist tell me I needed layering so I went for it and I cried it was so bad. Looked like my hair was wacked and now I know why. I loved seeing you style the hair and it made so much sense and looked so nice. I am so afraid to let someone try again. Looks like if someone did it right it would more than likely help me. How do you find someone who really knows how to cut fine hair. So hard!
Each time I use your DeFrizz product (4th time now) I’m getting better and better results. Todays was perfect. I’ve learned that some products fail due to operator error. You really did make a great product 💕. My hair is thin and fine so I had to learn the amount (little) and application (spray it into my hands and apply) love it. Thank you for rescuing my hair. Best ever. Never seen better!
This is the first time I've seen a video/read an article about styling fine hair where I've felt like the person talking ACTUALLY knew what they were talking about. Will be trying a couple of these tips. :) Also, suddenly feeling very lucky and very grateful that I've never had a bad experience with thinning shears.
Thank you, Justin for taking the time to explain what a person with fine thin hair should and should not do with there hair!! I really appreciate your explanation of how to use product on your hair and not to overdo it.
This video surprised me in the best way possible! I'm so glad I clicked on it. I have fine hair and my stylist texturizes it wrong! I knew something was amiss! She is not open to hearing my suggestions. Wow........maybe time to find a new hairstylist.
I love your tips. Ty so much. Thirty-four-year-old with hormonal hair loss. Toppers & wigs are too heavy for the amount of loss that I have but having nothing makes me look bald.... This really helped because I've been growing up my hair and it's about Midway down my back but it just looks so scraggly.., I thought having more hair would make it look better but your tips just made me realize what I need to do. Thank you so much.. you definitely earned my subscription
Subscribed from the first video I watched. I have a great stylist! She does it just like you were saying to. I have thin, fine blonde, now graying hair. She is a genius!
Thank you so much! Welcome to the family. I truly appreciate the support. Glad you have such an awesome stylist! There’s a ton of amazing ones out there for sure.
Now that I've discovered your channel, I feel I don't need to watch any other for great hair tips. I look forward to watching (and loving) each new weekly release.
I'm a Newbie, and I'm in love with Justin. You have answered so many of my questions in these tutorials. You are totally AWESOME and Thank you for your dedication. I'm a subscriber ☺️
Absolutely taking off some length will actually lift the hair up because if it's to long it will actually put extra weight on it therefore making it look flatter
Would you do a video and explain exactly what undercut is? I've had it done and that seems to work best for me but I've moved to another state and I'm unable to find someone who understands what I'm saying. The three most difficult things to find are a good doctor, a good dentist, and a great hair stylist. I absolutely hate the searching process!! Thank you so much and I love your videos!!
I absolutely understand what you mean! I’ll definitely consider doing a video on that in the future. Thanks for that suggestion. In the meantime have you had a chance to watch my video about how to find a new hairstylist? It may have some insight that could help you.
I don't know thing one about styling hair....looking forward to learning how to make my fine hair look thicker and fuller. Thank you for making these videos 💜
I have fine, thinner hair and love long straight hair so I wear extensions. Without them, my hair looks much like the first mannequin. I keep it that length so the extensions blend well. But, Certainly can not go without them. I have found that doing the "sandwich method" is a bit too heavy and tends to break my hair. Trying the single weft method today. Can you do a video on extensions for fine hair along with any tips and tricks to making it look its best. Cut, style, products etc.. ?
That would help me as well. My hair is darker and longer now. Not sure if I want extensions. Seems like alot of maintenance but do I have the patience to keep growing my hair? Prob not.
In the past (before I grew out my layers, and grew the length of my fine hair), extensions worked so well on my hair. Zero damage when the extensions were taken out. Maybe the damage depends on the manner in which the extensions are put in, and the manner in which they’re removed, and how you take care of your hair when the extensions are in? I had an “extension specialist” who gave me specific instructions, which I followed to the T. Or maybe I was just fortunate , not sure .
Perfect style I'm going for with my fine hair. I have a bunch, but no volume. Thanks for the product tip. I want to look like an awesome mother-of-the-bride soon!
It was literally like you were talking to me! Thank you for both your videos on fine thin hair! They both made so much sense to me. Congratulations Justin on your channel continuing to grow.
I have yet found a hairdresser that knows how to work with fine thin hair and I’m in my 60’s. First clue is when a beautician saids, your hair is so fine, hello I know. This tells me they don’t know how to work with my hair and the end result proves it
Hi Justin, this is by far one of your videos II found directly applicable to me. Your advice on layers and especially on texturizing is incredibly useful and is information that even as a layperson I think I could convey to my stylist. I'm still amazed at how you're able to style the mannequins hair so that it looks great regardless of which side you part her hair on. As for names, I was thinking of Just In Style (thank you Mumma Kels). Hickox & Family also rings true to me since your community has become a family to you, and to each other. Stay well and safe dear man and thank you again for all you do for us. - Judy
Thank you! Trust me....these over sized doll heads are NOT my favorite to work on, BUT, they serve the purpose and they’re always able to film when I need to! Lmao! Glad this video helped and I definitely agree about the family!
You've completely "earned" this gal's subscription! I have very fine and thinning hair. I've watched some of your videos (about to dive in to more) and appreciate your tips so much!
You and my morning cup of coffee! Perfect start to rolling into Sunday. Me - fine hair all my life. Quite a journey. Perms, short, long, good haircuts, bad haircuts...layering ahhhh.. You I trust!
Thank you so much for this video! My hair is fine AND thin. One of my biggest challenges is finding products that are light enough and actually make my hair fuller. However, I don't own a flat iron. I use a round brush when I blow dry. It looks from your videos that I need one, but it cannot be expensive. I'm going to check out your favorite. Thank you for linking your products below. Very, very helpful. Thanks so much, Justin. Your instructive videos are the best I've seen. Thanks for addressing the problem I've had with my hair for 40 years.
Justin, this was an amazing video.... I have fine thin hair.... this was so informational and helpful to me... I realize my daughter-in-law who is my stylist is doing it right!... even the texturizing... that’s why my hair has more volume now!... you knocked it out of the park!... much love and appreciation!!!..I have to give thought to a name!.., that is a great idea!..👏👏👏👏
Justin Hickox she is a great daughter-in-law too!!!... I am still going to travel to your salon someday when this is all over!!!.., hopefully, if I can get an appointment with you!!!!... that is my wish!😂😂😂stay safe and healthy!!!!💜💜💜💜
Great video. I have thin, fine hair that is COVID long because I haven't cut it since the pandemic began. It's definitely patchy at the ends. On top of this, I've been afraid to get layers for years b/c of a really bad experience. Very helpful. New subscriber.
Justin, my hair is gray, but just like that. Long and thin and uneven. I’ll be sure to try to give it a blunt bottom edge, but oh, how I wish you’d demonstrated how you actually did all the wonderful layering, just as you demonstrated using texturing on the tips. Now, suddenly, texturing makes sense, while layering is still a mystery, other than knowing it’s what my hair needs.... Again, bless you for your kindness in sharing with us. I can’t wait to watch even more of your great instructional videos! Thanks, Linda
Totally agree that it’s frustrating to just hear ‘layering’ and that there is a right and a wrong way but not even 30 seconds of how you did said layering??? I haven’t been to a hairdresser since the lockdown and I’m currently cutting and coloring my own hair. Thank you so much for the tips on texturizing and products, but please do a follow up that explains layering for volume to complete the other half of the information needed for actually cutting in volume. Thanks for the video!
I hope you travel teaching these techniques to others, in the industry that stick with just what they were taught. I have thin hair from thyroid diseases. Great to have this knowledge.
Thank you for your tips. I have thin fine hair and I have always love an A line cut. Watching your videos have convinced me to go back to my favorite cut. Thank you!❤
Great video- thanks for product names and tips! I have hair that will do anything for me… just would love 10x’s what God gave me! Fine, thin… but truly great and easy to work with. I’ve learned to be grateful … that makes me look fab no matter what!!😘😘😘
Omg I've had stylists chop into my hair the wrong way with their texturizing scissors. I'm so upset now that I know! Also, glad to know this information. Thank you.
Thanks. I have "shyte" hair. Grows forward, fine, now grey and coarser than in my youth. I am learning a lot. ( In my next like I want curls and the ability to sing)
Just when I thought you couldn’t be anymore helpful, Tuesday comes & I stand corrected...thank you Justin, so much, for hooking my thin ass nightmare hair up with so many great ideas and tips for looking better✌️♥️
I really needed this info as I'm heading off to get my longish, thinish, silver-grey hair cut today, so great tips. Now I have one for you...when working with a dark 'model head' of hair, maybe you can try to wear a light shirt. A lot is lost from the viewer POV when the darkness of the hair blends right into the darkness of the shirt. Thanks again!
I'm new to this website but not to thin hair. I'm 75 and after knee replacement surgery was diagnosed with telogen effluvium possibly from the anesthesia or from COVID. My hair is falling out so badly that it backs up the drain in the shower and it's also breaking off. The only way I can wear it is tied back in a small ponytail. I know that's not ideal but it's so broken I can't wear it any other way. I'm buying the products and taking this video to show my stylist! There's a lot of us out there that need additional videos about thin hair, hair loss, should we only use cold air dryers or let it dry naturally, effect of drugs on hair, effects of illnesses on hair loss, etc. Thanks!
Just found your channel and I’m already looking for more videos. I am a fairly new, licensed cosmetologist, and I’m always looking for more knowledge. Anything to make me more confident in my ability is extremely helpful. Loving your channel! Thank you for sharing.
I have fine, thin hair and cry when I think of how it used to be fine but thick 😫 Your videos are great and I wish I could find a stylist I could trust. My hair is just past shoulder length and one layer. I’m too scared to allow the hairdresser to layer it, as it’s been botched in the past. I also like to be able to tie my hair back in hot weather and found that when it was layered years ago, that I had annoying bits that would escape and get in the way. Trying to pluck up the courage to go layered but have awhile to go yet 😬
Thanks for checking out the video! I hope it helped! I’d love to hear your ideas on what we could call this community!!! I’d love to create something we could have to connect us even more. What are your thoughts????
I'd like to second this suggestion. Have been dealing with thinning on top and have gotten differing opinions from stylists about coloring my hair to camouflage. One told me I needed blonde highlights, a few years (and many highlights later) the other told me I need to darken near the roots. Didn't notice either method helping much, so now I'm letting my hair go back to natural strawberry blonde. I have been taking 10 mg biotin supplements and drinking collagen in my coffee for a few years and that seems to have helped me most - hair grows faster anyway... Would love to hear methods to make the top appear thicker. Thanks!
Like the video. My hair is fine but has enough natural wave to make a mess! Always flipping out in the wrong places and flat in others. I keep it really short to help with the battle! I will try the products you recommended. Thanks!
Hey Justin, love your videos and use your advise for my fine hair so thank you. It would be easier to see the hair you are working on if you had contrasting tshirts. It’s hard to see dark hair with a black background. Thank you
I have fine hair that due to a recent extremely stressful event has started to fall out. I really appreciate these videos about the best cuts and styling techniques to help with this issue now. I’m taking biotin and using a biotin stay in conditioner to hopefully remedy the situation! Soon!
What about those of us who dont use blow dryers? My hair is extremely prone to dryness and coarseness and drying it kills it. What products would help with our blowdryer? Thanks!
Love this video! Like many others commenting here, I have finally been cutting my own hair to get closer to the result I want. TH-cam videos like yours have been a wonderful resource for me. Would you please share which texturizing scissors you used in this video! I would like to get a pair now that I know how to use them. Thanks, Justin. You’re a treasure! XO
Thank you SO much! That support means SO much to me! Here's a link for the shears I use. I LOVE them! Hands down, they're my favorite shears and have been for almost 20 years! I use them on every single client...no lie! Can't wait to hear how you like them! amzn.to/34ji6Us
Thanks for the info. Suggestion.....maybe a white t-shirt so the models hair is shown better when you work on them......food for thought. So glad I found someone who understands fine, thinning hair. 🙏😁
Thank you so much! I’m so glad I could help. I totally hear what you’re saying. I constantly choose the wrong color T-shirt or the wrong color manikin. The problem is I typically don’t know what manikin I’ll be using until I get to the salon and by that time I already have my shirt on. I think I just need to bring a few different shirts and do some outfit changes when I’m using multiple manikins etc. LOL. Thanks for the feedback for sure.
OMG, thank you for saying that you can STILL layer hair. I'm a child of the 80's, so BIG hair. I don't want my hair straight and limp, and all one length. I want my hair to have volume and movement, but my hair is fine and not so thick. It's wavy, but not curly. So it's alot of so-so. :( But every time I ask a stylist to layer my hair they look at me like I'm nuts.
Absolutely you can layer it. In fact I think it something that is almost necessary in many cases. I’m glad this helped. Thanks for checking out the video!
Hey Justin, I just discovered you recently and I really appreciate, like so many others, how very well you explain things. Not in "salon specialist speak" but everyday terms so I can create the tips and find the products myself. Thanks!
hey Justin, I think this is is the second , or maybe third video of yours that I’veseen, I love your energy and appreciate, very much, the knowledge and experience you are sharing.🧐
Wow, I really enjoyed this demonstration and it taught me a lot about getting volume in my super thin hair. It would be ideal if I could find a stylist who knows what they are doing! I think that I can cut my own hair and it would be a better or at least close by the way it is being cut now. Another issue is that it's impossible too find a REAL STYLIST! I will be turning 69 years young tomorrow and only one time in my life have I actually had my hair done by a person who didn't ask me what kind of hair cut did I want. Instead he educated me in what would look good on me and help improve the volume of my hair. Unfortunately he moved to New York. So sorry I didn't mean to write a book but maybe you could touch on the subject of trying too find a good hair stylist. Any chance you might pass through Ogden Utah? lol. I 👍🙂
Hey, thank you so much. I truly appreciate that and I’m super glad that I can help! I actually did create a video about how to find a new stylist. I’m not sure if you’ve had a chance to see it yet? If you look through my videos I think you should be able to find it pretty easily and I really think you’ll like it! Looking forward to hearing what you think. Thanks again for the support.
Justin a huge thank you for creating this channel. If only stylist would ask their client's question, like you do! What would you suggest for thin hair, extremely fine and thinning on top and side, long face shape, with everything falling south 😆. Current length is collarbone so need volume on sides = fuller face and volume on top= hide thinning hair.. How do I not look like I'm living in the 80's!!! 😳
Thank you! I appreciate that feedback. It’s tough to say but I would recommend without seeing your hair and your face shape. I would definitely say layers play a huge role with your overall look. Also making sure that you have been in your hair not curl and not just fruit left if you use enough foundational products for volume you have some layers and you add band, you should be able to get movement and volume in your hair which will help it keep from being dated. Does that make sense?
I love how generous you are with practical tips. I wish I could visit you for a very overdue cut and style. Watching just a few of your videos has convinced me that you have the professional experience that would allow me to trust you to take complete control. Greetings and best wishes from a new subscriber.
Absolutely! That’s actually a great topic. I will probably wait a little bit to do that video because I want to make sure you all know I’m not trying to just sell products. Trust is very important to me. That’s why I’m still a bit hesitant on even talking about products more than I have to right now. But thanks for the insight....I will definitely keep this in mind!
@@nancyfelstein3148 I was wondering the same thing. Justin could you tell us the name of it please :) I love your videos, I just discovered you! I am hooked. I have bay fine thin hair that won't do anything.
Just subscribed after looking at hair toppers and volumizing extensions for 3 months! I used to avoid hair stylists... And I am going to avoid them again. Thank you😊
@@justinhickox This cut, the layer cut for fine hair. You talk about how the way it is cut/layered.. you keep it full at the bottom and have internal layers to keep it bouncy.. so in essence, it isn't whispy or thin on the ends
Thank you!! I appreciate the support! I KNEW I was going to hear it for that! :) lol. I didn’t have a white shirt so I tried to keep the background white and bright and have enough angles to show my points effectively. :) I wear way to much black! Lmao
I had a bob only it was too long, heavy for my fine, thin hair. In recent months I went back to an A-line which I really like! I like the way my stylist stacks the back which gives it more lift. I also added low lights to my platinum hair which makes me look younger.
Thank you for this, very helpful, but I wish you had shown exactly how you did the cut to layer the hair. You went from discussing how useful the layering would be for achieving volume, to the hair already layered. The cut is important to know, isn't it. What angle did you use?
Oops, accidentally sent too soon. Following your suggestions I was able to do a quick 10 minute trim on myself with great results. Prior I always thinned the bottom out too much and one ear would stick out. Most appreciate your valuable insights. Thank YOU So Much for sharing!!! I've been cutting my own hair since 2006. But I would layer the bottom also. I like your suggestions MUCH better!!!
Very helpful video. I have fine but very thick hair. I will remember to ask for texturizing at my upcoming appointment. And I'm going to buy some mousse and watch your styling video.
I NEED you to cut and color my hair! I’ve never had a stylist as knowledgeable. I’m even more hesitant after watching this video as I’m currently trying to find a new stylist. What should I say to the stylist when they ask what I want done so I get my points across which are the things you covered in this video? I’ve tried explaining to stylists that they have to be very careful and know what they’re doing when trimming my hair ESPECIALLY near my ears as the hair doesn’t grow well there and looks very string and thin if not cut correctly. Only one stylist has ever understood and trimmed my hair correctly around my ears and it took years for the stylist to figure out how to make it look not stringy and thin.
I just found you Justin! Came guy what great techniques you gave for thinning hair.I am 64 and my hair started thinning in my early 60. So many bad h/c since then. My hair doesn't hold curl and very limp! This was awesome on the texturizing!!! Can't wait to try on my hair. When we can all get out to the salon I will show this video to my hairdresser. She will love seeing this. We are both hairdressers from the early 70. I don't cut no more because of arthritis. I wish I was taught this different things when I was a cosmotologists. This will be a fun day for us to experiment on my hair. After all it can't get worse( I don't think!!!). It's just hair that will grow back( I hope!). 😂. I wish I was near you so I could have you cut mine. Tired of paying $70 just for a cut and it be bad. Thanks again for the knowledge. Stay safe and healthy.
Thank you for all your efforts in helping us!
learned lot thanks
Arm chair experts... Lol 🤣

Funny, just last week I chopped 4 inches off my long, fine hair. Using thinning shears on the very tips is a great idea! There's so much support out there for "Curly Girls" with their own Curly-specialist-stylists; I say now is the time for "Fine Girls" to get the support we need, too! ❤✂
Or better thin haired curly girls like me! Haha

Justin, your instruction about texturizing is the very best I have ever been exposed to!!! I am 81 with very short, fine wavy hair that is thinner (of course!) than it used to be. Thank you! I really appreciate that support. It means a ton to me.
What’s a long pixie
I agree with you I will never have grandma hair (short and gray).
I learned alot about making my hair look thicker. Thank you. The problem is finding a hair dresser that knows these tricks.
You be on a eternal quest.id say go to salon get your hair done. Then go home and put the few layers in yourself
Every time you find a good product they discontinue it! Never fails!!!!!!
Tell me about it! Drives me insane!
Preach! Happens with lipstick, perfume, nail polish and so on.
Haircolor too!
So true!
Omg yes.!
Thank you for all the tips. I just wish you could be my hair stylist.
This is the first time I've seen a video/read an article about styling fine hair where I've felt like the person talking ACTUALLY knew what they were talking about. Will be trying a couple of these tips. :)
Also, suddenly feeling very lucky and very grateful that I've never had a bad experience with thinning shears.
I learned the hard way about fine hair and too much layering in the late 70's, and have been super cautious ever since. These are great tips!
You are making complete sense. I hope your other listeners are getting what you are saying. I am and I can't believe I never figured that out myself
Your ability to teach is magnificent. Your verbal descriptions in concert with your brilliant camera technique is soooo great!!!!
You’re way too kind. Thank you so much for the support. I really do appreciate it!
Thank you! I’m so glad I could help. Good luck on your quest for the stylist that works best for you. :)
You are much more than a hairdresser. You are so kind.
You have changed my life, finally I understand how to look after my hair
I'm a Newbie, and I'm in love with Justin. You have answered so many of my questions in these tutorials. You are totally AWESOME and Thank you for your dedication. I'm a subscriber ☺️
Thank you!!! I’m stoked I can help! Welcome to the fam!
Great question Laurie! I am definitely going to be doing a few videos on extensions. Thanks for the feedback!
That would help me as well. My hair is darker and longer now. Not sure if I want extensions. Seems like alot of maintenance but do I have the patience to keep growing my hair? Prob not.
Extensions ruined my hair. It's been years and I have not regained the hair that I lost.
They also ruined my hair
In the past (before I grew out my layers, and grew the length of my fine hair), extensions worked so well on my hair. Zero damage when the extensions were taken out. Maybe the damage depends on the manner in which the extensions are put in, and the manner in which they’re removed, and how you take care of your hair when the extensions are in? I had an “extension specialist” who gave me specific instructions, which I followed to the T. Or maybe I was just fortunate , not sure .
This tribe doesn’t suck!!!! I love your videos!!!!
Perfect style I'm going for with my fine hair. I have a bunch, but no volume. Thanks for the product tip. I want to look like an awesome mother-of-the-bride soon!
Congratulations on the wedding!!! When is it?
I have very long fine silky virgin hair that I love which I wash, condition and leave it to dry naturally !
It was literally like you were talking to me! Thank you for both your videos on fine thin hair! They both made so much sense to me. Congratulations Justin on your channel continuing to grow.
Thank you Shelley! I’m really glad I could help a bit! Thanks for checking out those videos....the support means a lot!
I didn't realize that hair thins as it gets longer. I suffer from thin hair and this is very helpful info.
You've completely "earned" this gal's subscription! I have very fine and thinning hair. I've watched some of your videos (about to dive in to more) and appreciate your tips so much!
Thank you so much Katie! That kind of support means a ton to me! I really appreciate the feedback!
Thank you!!! That’s way too nice of you to say. I appreciate the support for sure. I’m glad I could help.
My thin hair, older woman hair folks. Love your information!
Thanks Linda! Sounds like you have a solid stylist!!! Nice! And as always, thanks for the support and feedback!
Justin Hickox she is a great daughter-in-law too!!!... I am still going to travel to your salon someday when this is all over!!!.., hopefully, if I can get an appointment with you!!!!... that is my wish!😂😂😂stay safe and healthy!!!!💜💜💜💜
How can I find a real hair stylist like u to fix my hair. You would believe how hard it is to find a true hair guru.Thank u👋
Thank you Linda! That’s a great idea. I may do a whole video about that and other layering techniques. Thanks for the feedback!
I have fine hair and I never knew any of this information .. I am so grateful. Thank you so much ... you rock Justin 😁
Thank you! I’m so happy I could help a bit!!! And...YOU rock!
Thank you.
You’re so welcome! I’m really glad I could help. Thank you for that
Thank you Harmony! I’m stoked this could help!!! I always appreciate your support....stay well!
Fell down a rabbit hole. Love your whole channel so I am binge watching!
This is one of the best compliments I can receive! Thank you for the support. I’m so glad you like the videos.
Awesome! Welcome to the fam! Thank you for checking out and supporting my channel! I always love hearing from stylists!
I have fine, thin hair and cry when I think of how it used to be fine but thick 😫
Your videos are great and I wish I could find a stylist I could trust.
Regarding naming the Community: How abt Community Cuts!!
Krys Bosch I like that one or what about we’re a cut above the rest Lol
How about the hair tribe???😁
One hair better.
That's definitely a potential!
Thank you for the tips. I am 63 with thin bleach blonde hair, not grey enough to go grey and have a dark Curela strip in my bangs 👩🎤
More on camouflaging thinning hair? Thanks so much!
Thank you. Great topic idea!
Thanks!
DJ BOSNICK agreed. The internet is confusing. :(
How to camouflage thinning hair in front (starting to see more forehead) without incorporating bangs would be great!
Thank you for sharing 💕
Soon!
Just in Style (Justin...get it?) 😂🤣
Lol!!! Love it! Hmmm....I see a tag line there too. ;)
@@justinhickox No .Never

I am wondering if you have a video for fine, thin, wavy/curly hair. I would LOVE to see that one!
What about those of us who dont use blow dryers? My hair is extremely prone to dryness and coarseness and drying it kills it. What products would help with our blowdryer?
Thanks!
Hi Justin, can you do a video on hair styles for women with thin hair in front and thick hair in a back of the head?
I’ll definitely consider that for a future video!
OH CALL IT (JUST IN TIME )!! GOOD NAME 👍 LOVE THE IDEA OF THE TEE SHIRTS WOULD DEFINITELY BUY ONE !!
That's a solid name for sure....and something I"ve heard said a lot over the years just in general! :)
Thank you! I just used the technique you showed to blend blunt ends on my side swept bangs….worked perfectly
Lol. I too am an 80’s child and I agree, I just can’t pull off the pin straight, no layered look at all... I still love the layered big volume look!
PLEASE do a video on dealing with detangling long hair after shampooing!!!
That’s a great topic idea! Thanks! I’ll try and work that into the schedule.
Hey Justin, I just discovered you recently and I really appreciate, like so many others, how very well you explain things. Not in "salon specialist speak" but everyday terms so I can create the tips and find the products myself. Thanks!
hey Justin, I think this is is the second , or maybe third video of yours that I’veseen, I love your energy and appreciate, very much, the knowledge and experience you are sharing.🧐
crown of beauty is the name for this community.
I like that. I’m all about crowns and they make cool tattoos! Lol!
I just learned through you more mistakes I've been doing with my hair. Thanks for your great insight!!!
Exactly my own experience! Last time I got a haircut, I was embarrassed to be seen walking to my car.
Thank you so much for this. My hair is straight and fine, I've always wanted more volume.
Love your videos !! How about Hickox’s Hairem? (Like harem)
I like that. Thank you!
@@justinhickox
Yes it does. Thanks for your advice.
Love your channel, you explain every subject so well.
Thank you, love and gratitude.
"We Are All Hair Together."
Lol! Love it! That’s a solid tag line! :)
The Hair Whisperer and his Band of Educated Beauties! This says it all 🤩
Can you do a video showing how you layer the top portion , leaving length dense looking
Thanks for the feedback! I’m definitely considering doing some videos like that. I think they would be good for clients as well as for stylists.
I'm so happy I discovered this channel. I learned that my hairdresser cuts my hair the right way!
I love how generous you are with practical tips. I wish I could visit you for a very overdue cut and style. Watching just a few of your videos has convinced me that you have the professional experience that would allow me to trust you to take complete control. Greetings and best wishes from a new subscriber.
Wow! Thank you so much for that. I truly appreciate it.
Wow I wish I lived close to your salon ! I have fine hair , a lot of it but fine .
Thank you! If you’re ever in the Portland area I’ll be here :-)
👏🏻❤️👏🏻 I love to know more about styling products that are actually not damaging my hair! 🙏🏻
Justin Hickox please share products asap
What is the name of the hair spray that you talked about
@@nancyfelstein3148 I was wondering the same thing. Justin could you tell us the name of it please :)
I love your videos, I just discovered you! I am hooked. I have bay fine thin hair that won't do anything.
Just subscribed after looking at hair toppers and volumizing extensions for 3 months! I used to avoid hair stylists... And I am going to avoid them again. Thank you😊
I would like to see the how to cut of this style. How you kept it full at the bottom while adding internal layers. Is there a video on the actual cut?
Hey Michelle, thank you. I haven’t made any videos about the actual cutting techniques yet. Which cut were you talking about?
@@justinhickox This cut, the layer cut for fine hair. You talk about how the way it is cut/layered.. you keep it full at the bottom and have internal layers to keep it bouncy.. so in essence, it isn't whispy or thin on the ends
I really appreciate in-studio instruction like this.
Please wear a light colored shirt with a dark haired model. We can’t see the hair against your dark shirt. Thank you!! Great videos!!!!
Thank you!! I appreciate the support! I KNEW I was going to hear it for that! :) lol. I didn’t have a white shirt so I tried to keep the background white and bright and have enough angles to show my points effectively. :) I wear way to much black! Lmao
Justin Hickox Your background WAS perfect. And it was then that we could see the whole head:)
❤
You’re so wonderful at explaining everything! Thank you!
Very helpful video. I have fine but very thick hair. I will remember to ask for texturizing at my upcoming appointment. And I'm going to buy some mousse and watch your styling video.
Thank you Alicia I appreciate that! Looking forward to hearing how you like that mousse!
