I think I need to do a slower paced walk through of backcombing. Even as a stylist, it took me forever to figure out how to do it so that the hair looks FULL but not outdated (and still natural). I will add it to my video list.
I would much rather use the Voloom iron than back combing my hair. I had a stylist who back combed my hair once and it was basically impossible to untangle my hair.
@@EverythingAndNothing08 The Voloom is a super awesome hair tool. I need to buy it. I have an imitation one from Amazon but I know the actual Voloom is better
This method takes SO long. I am a 48 year old teacher with fine hair. I go to work every morning feeling frumpy because I just can't get up an hour earlier to do my hair and makeup. I usually take about 15 min for my hair and makeup. Can you make a video for ladies that are in a hurry?🙏🥹 I absolutely love your videos! You are my favorite for beauty tips. Thank you for being so happy and joyful. It makes me feel happier just watching you.
If your hair is long enough throw it in curlers the night before, Go to bed with a silk or satin sleep cap, Wake up take them out brush it out put some hairspray in done. That will lean into a more frizzy sort of hairdo but when she get good at shaping it it'll look fantastic!
Not everything is going to take five minutes-in fact very few if any, will. She didn't say it's a quick method, but it works and will last a couple of days! I'm a teacher also and older than you:) Most of the time for work I twist it and clip it, pull a few strands down, put on basic makeup and go. As far as length-come on people! No video is customized just for you.
Totally. The 1960s Beehive was created using backcombing. It was worn by Audrey Hepburn, Brigette Bardot, Ann Margaret, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand … and, more recently, Marge Simpson. 😂😂
A tutorial on teasing would be fantastic! I used to do it in the 80s, but I remember my hair becoming very damaged. And back then it was a lot fuller and thicker. So yes, that would be much appreciated! And thank you for all the styling tips! It seems like a lot, but I'll try to add them step by step.
Thanks for this video. Not only is my hair fine, but thinning on top due to aging. A video on teasing as well as styles for face shape (pear-low forehead/wide jaw) would be helpful. Thank you. Love your videos!❤
I'm really happy to hear that you enjoy these Barbara! I like making them too. They give a lot of value in a short amount of time. It's actually how I grew my entire channel.
I’ve been fighting my hair gor decades & do know most of these tricks but not all. Seeing your styling step by step, along with the products was really helpfulful! I have hesitated to buy that dryer brush bec it seemed too large! Thanks so much!
Teasing how-to - a big YES. I'm 72. In the 60s my cousin was in hairdressing school and would practice on my hair. She would tease the absolute crap out of my hair into a rats nest LOL So yes I need the modern version of teasiing.
I’ve been looking for a TH-camr who has my hair situation (ie. fine and thin hair) for a LONG time! I’m so glad I found you! Thank you so much for these tips I will start incorporating them in my hair styling sessions ❤️
I just cut my hair blunt front a little longer at angle. I’ve done my own hair and my hairdresser is $180. Why get a high end hair cut when I’m always home and retired. I watch you and summer the best thing was cutting with the conditioner in. Made such a difference. Came out so good just below my ears. I never had problems cutting my hair. Last time I did the pony layers and it grew out so good. But took your advice went blunt since it’s straight and fine I wear it with the wave and I just want to THANK YOU LOVE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS.
I loved this video so much Gabi! It made me realize I haven't been using enough mousse and should try backcombing. From one fine-haired girl to another, thank you! 😊
I've always had a ton of hair but as I'm getting older, between menopause & dieting, I've probably lost almost 50% of my hair. It's still pretty thick comparatively speaking but for me, a lot thinner than I'm used to! I'll be adding some of these techniques & products into my own hair care/styling. Thank you! Question for you, have you ever worn a side part? Personally, I think every single person looks softer & prettier with a side part. Coworkers say I'm aging myself by saying that - I am almost 62 so maybe I am!!
Make sure you're getting enough calcium. I had the same problem until I had a dental implant issue (I'll spare you the details) and I started drinking more milk so that the implant would take. My hair started growing like crazy, and now it grows two inches in three months, and some of my hair actually grew back. The texture of my hair improved also. There might be something else in the milk that helped, but it was awesome if you can stomach it. Good luck!
Thanks, Gabi. Teasing goes back further than the '80s, but that was definitely an era for big hair. Been there, done that with perms and back-combing! Great tips!! Thank you!!!
My hair is so thin and fine now thanks to age and changing hormones, but I was a teen in the 80s and the huge hair I was able to make for myself was epic! I had elastics for braces and would do thin braids all through my hair before bed. When I let it out in the morning the volume was unreal. If I did that now, my hair would probably revolt and just fall out…
I always spray a little "working spray" (Tresseme extra hold is affordable and works well for this purpose on my thin, fine hair) at the roots to keep the body after flat ironing it. I brush it out slightly when setting my style. My hair is 4-6 inches long, so this trick may not work if your hair is any longer. I've also just recently found a stiffer setting spray that is affordable, and works like Sexy Spray and Play used to before they ruined the formula. It's called Rebel Riot, and it's made in Canada. I buy it through Sally Beauty in the US. Good luck, all you fine-haired gals, and thanks Gabi, for your always fabulous videos! ❤
I’m 70 but I’ve just started paying attention to my hair in the past few months, so yes, I would love to learn everything you have to teach about teasing. Thank you. Loving your videos, learning so much from them. ❤
I've always styled for volume (whether it's on trend or not), so I have used a TON of different volumizing products over the last few decades. None of them were great - until ColorWow Xtra Large Bombshell Volumizer. Game changer! The volume is bigger than anything else, it does not dull or roughen the hair like most volumizers do, AND it lasts for days! I do the same round brush styling you showed, and wrap the crown sections around rollers (actually round brushes with the handle broken off). I probaby should try backcombing because I have a weird cowlick there, but I am scared of damage.
That is amazing! I will have to check it out because I am always on the hunt for the perfect volume product too. I’m literally going to buy this today!
Thank you for the video Gabi! You're always super informative and we appreciate it! I have one challenge I have yet to see anyone address yet in TH-cam or reddit etc.. I've been searching high and low for more info on how to wear a fine hair bob to bed to extend style and prevent bumps. I easily get bumps and then my ends flip out and I have no volume and have to redo the volume again but most of the time I give up 😂 so would be interesting to hear your take on this subject! Thank you!
please!!! a teasing tutorias would be amazing!!! I have thin, sparse hair and it has gotten worse with age. I also lost my hair due to major depression and it is growing frizzy. I have no idea how to comb and cut it. Recovery has not been easy and I think it is very important for me to look good. Thank you for your tutorials, greetings from Mexico.
THIS VIDEO ROCKS! Loved all the help on giving my flat straight hair life an body again. Very helpful! Can’t wait to try the ideas along with products. Great job. 👍
Great tips! Can’t wait to try some of the techniques you share here! I appreciate learning the “whys” behind your tips so kudos to you for explaining them so thoroughly! Keep doing what you’re doing 👌🏽
Thank you for the tips and tricks! About 20 yrs ago, I came across Aveda Pure Abundance shampoo and clay conditioner - it was a complete games changer as I too have baby fine, silky hair; more in the back than in the front. While this combo, along with their Control Force hairspray and Philmolient mousse, were game changers, as soon as my scalp starts sweating (live in hot and sometimes humid climates) all volume is lost. Having a collar length style helps, but ultimately, my hair ends up in a clip due to heat and humidity.
That is so good to know! Thank you for sharing! I just bought the John Frieda one and it's amazing too and so inexpensive. I am going to do a 5 day video where I try five different combinations of volume products from inexpensive to expensive and show you my hair throughout the entire day. We can see which one is most effective!
Great video! I discovered you through your fine hair styling videos, and stayed for the makeup tips. Lol. Glad to see an OG fine hair video. I’m curious about these wands now.
I am so glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful! I love doing both hair and makeup! And yes - a wand is super handy. I love that it doesn’t collapse volume. That’s the main reason I reach for it over a curling iron.
Please do a Back Comb video! I’m a fine straight hair mature woman. I have bought so many hair products to achieve volume and curls. Thank you for the tips!
This has been the most helpful video I've watched on thin hair. I ended up getting postpartum hair loss after my son. My hair is so thin I don't know how to style it so I loved this video a lot of great tips. Also I'm using opaplex shampoo right now, my hair does seem weighted down lately I had no idea it was the shampoo possibly doing that!
Thank you Gabi! I just bought some shampoo and will exchange it for volume shampoo! Volumizing spray really helps too.! You always have great tips and tricks and I love watching your channel! You’re the best❤️
Member of The Skinny-ass Hair Sisterhood here. Humidity and the utter lack of it can also play huge part. During the summer here in New England, my hair actually needs less product, but in the dead dryness of winter I end up having to use Got2b Glued to keep my short hair from going totally flat. I guess my hair shafts open up in humidity and give my hair much needed body - not in winter!🥶 🥶
Down here in the deep south it is just the opposite! The humidity is so terrible in summer that it just makes for a flat lifeless mess!! And it does awesome in the winter!! 😂
@ LOL! Maybe my husband is right, maybe we should live in an RV, but instead of chasing the warm weather, we should be chasing the GOOD HAIR weather! 😂😂😂
Yes to back combing video. This video was super helpful! Thank you! If you have any high end/low end fine hair product recommendations I’d love to hear those, too!!
What a wonderful helpful video. I was wondering if the Moroccan Oil Root Boost makes your roots oily within a short time? Same with the Moroccan Oil Volume Mist as I also have thin hair. I do not wash my hair every day so knowing this would be helpful before I purchase the product. Thanks for all the great info you provide. Love your videos.
Gabi you are a life-changer! Excellent tips. I do most of them but your explanation will help my baby fine hair have volume that lasts! And a back combing video please - I don’t know if you follow Suebelle in Palm Beach - I love her- she is the queen of the back combing - just a little 80s flight attendant 😂 ❤
I keep hearing great things about that product but im so tired of spending so much money on products that don’t work! 😢 if you have fine AND thin hair and it works maybe I’ll give it a shot! I think ColorWow has a similar product 🤔
Yes, more on teasing would be great and also what about day 2 hair? I struggle with bringing life back into hair that’s now completely flattened out after sleeping on it. Tips for that would be great!
Your hair is gorgeous Gabi, you always look so pretty and your videos are so informative, can you give us some examples of shampoo/conditioners and other products you use or have used, drug store and other brands, ty so much Gabi.
Another awesome video! My hair is on the thicker side but the strands are fine. Over the past 5 years, I have had several stylists over layer and/or over texturize leaving some areas very thin. I use some of these techniques while it is growing out. One product that has really been helpful is the Living Proof Thickening Cream. I use a small amount in the areas that are on the thin side and what a difference it makes! I haven't tried the teasing technique though and will try it. For those of us with thick/curly/wavy hair, it's very difficult to find a stylist who really knows proper layering and texturizing techniques. I feel like I have been growing out my hair on and off for 6 years! Just made an appointment with a new stylist for later this month after a stylist really butchered my hair in November leaving me with uneven layers, over texturized areas, areas with too much thickness -- just a very unbalanced hair cut. So even though I'm a thick haired girl, these techniques come in handy from time to time!
Another great video, thank you!! Since menopause my hair is now wavy/curly so my routine has changed. I saw your video about diffusing which has been very helpful. Any products you can suggest for fine, thin wavy/curly hair?
Before perimenopause I would have been able to follow your routine. But now, it just results in frizzy hair, anyway, no matter what I do. Perhaps the products that a fine wavy/curly haired woman needs AFTER "the change" are different than before...or maybe I am limited to just diffusing my hair. Not my favorite. Especially since I live in an oceanside town where the humidity is always high.
I love your videos Gabi❤️ you know I have spoke before about my fine thin hair! I love your video it's so helpful thank you so much for taking your time to do this! But then again all of your videos are so helpful and you're also a very funny girl you lighten up my day and give me a smile ❤️ thank you 😘
Thank you Gabbi another fine hair lady here, much appreciate all the great tips. I have always did the bend over routine but now i get a little light headed lol
I actually have really low blood pressure and I get light headed too! It's so annoying! I even get light headed when I get up from my bed. Instead of bending your head over, just lift your roots up with your finger like I showed in the video as well.
Gabi. Thank you for this video. I’ve always had wavy thick thick beautiful hair. Unfortunately, after menopause I started thinning horribly. Now on topical minoxidil, Spironolactone, iRestore helmet. Hair is back, but very fine. I appreciate all your valuable advice. God bless ❤
I used to take spironolactone for many years, the doctor took me off because there were studies done saying it causes tumors. You may wanna read about its safety. I have a tumor in my back, on my kidney, ovaries, and had a couple on my liver (thank God that’s over). I’m not sure the details of these tumors. There are natural alternatives. I used minoxidil for a couple years, but I found rosemary oil is just as affective. It’s messy to use topically, but it does work.
I found with texture sprays - they are sooo good BUT do not just later on hit your hair with a brush !!!! It will really break your hair off!!! So be easy , start at the ends and gently brush it out 😊 Also I noticed that the big curlers that stick without a clip- be gentle if using texture sprays with them- taking them out can break your hair off because of the sprays !
Merci tellement pour cette vidéo 🎉. Ça me redonne espoir de pouvoir donner du volume à mes cheveux. Je vais tenter toutes ces techniques et acheter les produits texturants. L'avant-après est saisissant. Ta coiffure est magnifique
Can you address in a video fine curly/wavy hair. I like to keep my curls, so all the blowout brushes and rough drying and some products are not an option for me. Thanks.
Yes! Fine curly/wavy hair. I use a lot of Gabi's suggestions already. I use a tighter scrunch with softer, smaller movements while upside down when applying product. Plus, a light hairspray once right side up. Then, another spray before leaving. A backcomb is great, too, to lift where to apply the hairspray. I use three lightweight products, too. It's a search to find the ones that work. One: Rusk w8less Plus Hairspray. ☺
Yes I can do that! My hair is actually very wavy/curly. You probably noticed when I rough dried it. I have an older video showing how to style it wavy here: th-cam.com/video/-V2-OFf7L4U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MfIOGkrRqdfRidBc
Im lucky to have curly fine hair, most people don't seem to notice, especially since humidity makes my curls puff with frizziness, which most people avoid but I whole heartedly lean into. I use doves lavender and volume and a QUICK pump of paul Mitchell super skinny serum ONLY on the ends, barely getting to the half up my hair. I personally, found using heat products damages my hair, even with heat protectents and low temps. I let my hair air dry, it tends to lend a hand into making my frizzy. The only sorta exception is in the winter when I stand in front of the heater after the shower, even then I pull my hair over my shoulder shifting it from shoulder to shoulder for more even coverage. I can tell the difference in health in my hair because of it. Im not giving up winter heater time 🤣
Hi Gabbi, I tried these techniques today and they worked great!!!! Thank you I also watched your video on false eyelashes the other day and I wanted to know if you could do one on magnetic lashes?
Love this video and you, GABI! Can’t find it anywhere so would you please tell the brand and model of the blow dryer/brush all in one please? Thank uuuu!
Thank you for making this video. I also have really fine hair. But I have a lot of it. It definitely wouldn’t fit in that tiny clip, lol. It takes forever to dry and forever to style. But unfortunately, the style rarely stays. I think incorporating some of your tips and tricks would help with that. But if you have any further ideas for those of us who have a lot of fine hair, I would sure appreciate it. My hair is straight, untreated, and about 3 inches past my collarbone thanks!
after washing and drying I use dry shampoo to the roots - even they are fresh. Then I tease them using very small amount of hair spray to the roots. This tip I learned from other fine haired youtuber and was surprised with the result on my hair. This dry shampoo step is my game changer.
Thank you for this video! The tips are so useful. Can you also share your tips on how to preserve this voluminous style over a couple of days or at least overnight? I have heard that sleeping in a silk hair bonnet and wrapping the hair around some soft material might help, but am not sure it will work. Thank you! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for all of your videos! You do such a great job of explaining the steps for makeup and hair. Here is my question. I am 57 years old and I have fine, thin hair that is layered. I have tried to grow out the layers and my hair just won’t grow. I have watched all of your hair videos and they are great. I am on a limited budget and I need to know which tools and products are the best. For example, should I buy a flat iron, barrel iron, or clamp iron? I definitely have decided to do the round brush dryer. Thank you for your help!
There are lots of good options. I haven't tested them all yet. I would go for something that has heat control options since fine haired girls don't necessarily want super high heat.
Profesor blowout explains it all:) redken volume injection shampoo and conditioner, pureology leave in conditioner, olaplex hair oil. The HOLY GRAIL! I switched to it recently and my hair grew 3 inches in less then 2 months (I am in early 30s, my hair is wavy and fine) and I recently got a ton of compliments from my colleagues ❤❤ Sorry to be so forward as to mention someone else's youtube channel, your make up advice stepped up my game!!
That conditioner was too heavy for my hair. It makes it flat. Actually, Herbal Essence works way better. I have tried everything so I'd love suggestions for conditioner that doesn't leave fine hair silky and heavy.
This really flat fine hair girl would love to hear more about back combing! Thank you! Great video!
I think I need to do a slower paced walk through of backcombing. Even as a stylist, it took me forever to figure out how to do it so that the hair looks FULL but not outdated (and still natural). I will add it to my video list.

Using a root lift spray and your over-directed mohawk sectioning with the blow dry brush has made a huge difference in volume for me. Thank you Gabi!
Isn’t it an awesome technique/strategy? It makes a HUGE difference. It makes everyone’s hair look amazing (even people with thick hair)

Sleeping, over night, with your hair up in a scrunchie, has increased the volume big time, in my hair.
I would love a hair video using fragrance free/unscented products because sensitive people are so limited. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback, I will add it to my list!
I am so glad you found it helpful!
Yes!!! Same here! My hair is wavy so the humidity makes it curlier and puffier. In the winter it just looks so sad.
Down here in the deep south it is just the opposite! The humidity is so terrible in summer that it just makes for a flat lifeless mess!! And it does awesome in the winter!! 😂
Any suggestions for winter seasons on styling fine 2b porous hair? @@GlamGirlGabi
Your sequin dress looks fabulous on you!
Wow - Thank you!
Great tips..a teasing video would be great...my hair is very fine and along with that thinning ..😂
Loved this video!! So helpful!! Yes, a teasing video would be so great!! Thank you Gabi❤
Hi Gabi. Yes please do a video on back combing. I love learning new tips from your videos. Happy New Year! 😊
Yes please!!!😊. Would LOVE backcombing instructional video! Thank you so much ❤
You got it! I can definitely do that.
@ ❤️
Thank you for explaining how to do the blow out and for listing the products you used. I love watching your videos!
Fine and thin hair girl here! My hairdresser just introduced me to the Kevin Murphy Anti Gravity spray. AWESOME.
That sounds like a great product! I'll have to check it out!
Tips for that would be great!
yes, please tutorial about back combing for volume!
Your hair is gorgeous Gabi, you always look so pretty and your videos are so informative, can you give us some examples of shampoo/conditioners and other products you use or have used, drug store and other brands, ty so much Gabi.
Here's a link to my shopmy for some of the high end volume shampoo / conditioners I like shopmy.us/collections/308275
I never would have believed you have fine hair without seeing the "before." Great tutorial and tips! Made me hit the subscribe + like.
Thanks for joining the community! I hope you enjoy the content coming up this year ❤️
Another great video, thank you!!
Thank you, Gabi! I use the texture spray often, thanks to a previous video a while back.
I am so glad you found it helpful!
Yes, tutorial on teasing. That would be great. Love your videos!!!❤
You got it! I will add it to my video list!
So be easy , start at the ends and gently brush it out 😊
Also I noticed that the big curlers that stick without a clip- be gentle if using texture sprays with them- taking them out can break your hair off because of the sprays !
Great styling tips! Would love for you to do a video on back combing/teasing please! Thanks Gabi!!
Will do!!
Thanks for showing your natural hair, that was brave. Mine is the same and I'm not good at styling it.
Definitely more info on back combing without damage!
Backcomb technique would be awesome ❤ thanks for this great tutorial 🙌
Thanks for watching!
Yes. Wd like more back teasing tips. I hv very long hair. Medium wt, so need the help. Ty.
Great video Gabi!!! I would love to see a step by step back-comb/teasing hair video.
Happy New Year!!💜💜
Can you address in a video fine curly/wavy hair.
Im not giving up winter heater time 🤣
Great video! I'd love more about backcoming - I tease my hair, but clearly I've been doing it wrong.
I will definitely make a video about backcombing!
Hi Gabbi, I tried these techniques today and they worked great!!!! Thank you
I also watched your video on false eyelashes the other day and I wanted to know if you could do one on magnetic lashes?
I’m not a big fan of magnetic lashes but let me try again! I only tried them years ago. They must have come a long way since then.
Love this video and you, GABI! Can’t find it anywhere so would you please tell the brand and model of the blow dryer/brush all in one please? Thank uuuu!
Thanks for sharing these awesome tips.
I appreciate you so, so much !
I have a tease with eaze comb that works great. I would love to see a video on teasing
Ooooooo I need to look into that!
Wow, amazing work!
Happy New Year Gabi! Thanks for all this good info too! I have fine hair too! Great video Gabi! Thank you so much!🥰💕💕💕
I’m so glad you found it helpful! Happy New Year to you too!
Eu adoro os seus vídeos. Sempre aprendo algo novo. Ótimo conteúdo.
Obrigada! I’m so glad you find the videos helpful!
Great & informative video! Please, please a video on teasing would be much appreciated ❣️ Thank you!
after washing and drying I use dry shampoo to the roots - even they are fresh. Then I tease them using very small amount of hair spray to the roots. This tip I learned from other fine haired youtuber and was surprised with the result on my hair. This dry shampoo step is my game changer.
Yes!! This is an amazing tip! Do you remember who the TH-camr was?
@@GlamGirlGabi Jenny Mustard - it was few years ago. Now she usually styles her hair sleek.
@@GlamGirlGabialso Justin shares this tip.
Thank you Gabi for the tutorial 😊
You're welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful!
Thank you for this video! The tips are so useful. Can you also share your tips on how to preserve this voluminous style over a couple of days or at least overnight? I have heard that sleeping in a silk hair bonnet and wrapping the hair around some soft material might help, but am not sure it will work. Thank you! ❤❤❤
A Silk hair bonnet can definitely help, or using a silk pillowcase. it reduces friction on the hair.
Great tips Gabi 🤩 yep I'm a teasing girl from the 80s !!😁
You are brilliant thank you very much!!!!
Love your hairstyle Glam Girl Gabby! 😊
Feliz año nuevo 🎉🎉🎉!!! Buenísimo el video muchas gracias
Your videos are so helpful for us thin, fine haired girls. Do you have a more affordable option for a curling wand preferably on Amazon?😊
There are lots of good options. I haven't tested them all yet. I would go for something that has heat control options since fine haired girls don't necessarily want super high heat.
Does it matter the products you use depending on if your hair is low porosity or high porosity?
Profesor blowout explains it all:) redken volume injection shampoo and conditioner, pureology leave in conditioner, olaplex hair oil. The HOLY GRAIL! I switched to it recently and my hair grew 3 inches in less then 2 months (I am in early 30s, my hair is wavy and fine) and I recently got a ton of compliments from my colleagues ❤❤
Sorry to be so forward as to mention someone else's youtube channel, your make up advice stepped up my game!!
I love his videos and use the same products as well! So happy I found him and now I have found the perfect stylist!! ❤
That conditioner was too heavy for my hair. It makes it flat. Actually, Herbal Essence works way better. I have tried everything so I'd love suggestions for conditioner that doesn't leave fine hair silky and heavy.
@@luanna3381 have you tried redken volume injection conditioner? Works for ne:)
Yes please on the backcombing video!
Yes, please do a video on back combing.😊
You got it! I will add it to my video list.
@GlamGirlGabi Thank you,
I have such a hard time getting teased sections to stay. I feel like it just falls super quickly. A video on teasing would be so helpful!
Spray the section where you'll be teasing with hairspray, then tease. Hold the section up for a few seconds to let it set.
When you do your hair like this, when do you wash your hair with all the products in there and after all that work? Like a week after?
It depends, but I did create a video with my typical weekly hair routine you can see here: th-cam.com/video/s3MWEhtTm3c/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for the tips!!!
yes I will like a tutorial about teasing. 💗
Do you use any type of heat protectant on your hair or does the Moroccan oil root in volumizer contain a protectant?
