  • In this video, we setup 4x Shure QLXD systems with a Shure UA844+SWB antenna and power distribution unit. The setup is temporarily staged in a tabletop rack and later to be permanently installed in the location properly.
    For the detailed items included in each unit, see the unboxing videos of each product.
    This video is not sponsored and all items were purchased to be used in local projects.
    Overall this is a great solid system, and works perfectly. The Antenna and power distribution unit is a great combination for these units, and can be used in tiered configurations for larger installations.
    The setup was later networked together using the network ports and connected to other systems to be used with wireless workbench. Great setup with solid gear for awesome performance.
    If you're working alone or hate dropping screws be sure to pick up the Makita Impact Gold Bit holder:

    If you want to get a kit with different bits, get this: amzn.to/3bmFsvJ
    These bit holders are GOLD when you're working alone.
    SHURE UA844+SWB
    The UA844+SWB UHF Wideband Antenna Distribution System from Shure is for the expansion of a Shure wireless microphone system. It can be used to split one pair of antennas to multiple receivers and amplify the RF signal to compensate for the insertion loss.
    A single UA844+ system can support up to five wireless receivers. A maximum of five UA844+ systems may be used in a two-tiered configuration. The system is compatible with the Shure QLX-D, ULX, ULX-D, SLX, and BLX4R wireless receivers.
    SHURE QLX-D
    he Shure QLXD4 is a digital half-rack wireless receiver housed in a rugged, full-metal chassis and compatible with QLXD1 bodypack and QLXD2 handheld transmitters. It provides instructors, presenters, and broadcasters with professional-quality audio, reliable RF performance, and secure AES 256-bit encryption. Easy to set up and operate, it is ideal for use in TV broadcast or sound-reinforcement applications in medium-sized venues and houses of worship, as well as A/V installations in conference, educational, and corporate facilities.
    The QLXD4 operates in the G50: 470 to 534 MHz UHF band with a 64 MHz tuning range and 2560 selectable frequencies. It delivers pristine 24-bit/48 kHz digital audio with clarity, accurate low end, and crisp transient response. The receiver utilizes Digital Predictive Switching Diversity to protect the transmission from interference and provide solid RF signal stability without audio artifacts. You can run up to 60 mic channels at the same location.
    The unit features audio and RF meters, 60 dB of gain control, and both mic/line XLR and 1/4" instrument outputs. A large LCD screen and intuitive controls let you quickly make adjustments, even in low-light situations. Additional features include automatic frequency scanning, IR sync, and internal limiting to prevent clipping.
    The Ethernet port allows multiple receivers to be easily networked together for simplified frequency coordination and deployment via Shure's Wireless Workbench (WWB) software.

    Liked this video. Just did a rack mount for 4 ULXD mics.

    How much better an ULXD4Q would be. No cable mess, only one rack unit high und Dante support.

    At what point do you need to distribution? I have 3 units.

      I would always try to get a distribution if the budget allows when you have 3 or more units. Let me explain, it's more than just less antennas sticking out. It's because you can scan and manage the frequencies on all the receiver units quick and simultaneously. When you have one wireless device it always uses up ~ 3 frequencies because of harmonic frequencies. So having 2 devices you're really using up about 6 (roughly), not all th e same strength. By adding the antenna/power distribution, you can scan the entire spectrum / band, with one unit, and IT will calculate the best frequencies to use including into the equation the frequencies used up by harmonic frequencies, and assign them all at once to the units.
      if you're in an area where there is relatively no interference like in the desert, then you probably don't need it since your frequencies would rarely ever change and you only need to set it really once. But if you're in a crowded area like big city, or areas that are developing it will definitely help since you will need to scan and deploy probably often. If you are mobile, and always going to new places. I would get it for sure with 3 units, since it will save time on setup, and also get you the best frequencies at each site for all units.

    Is there a way to add 6 QLXD's to one UA844? I don't want to buy another one just for 1 more unit

    • @tgbatg
      @tgbatg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not if you want to do it right. If you really wanted to try a work around (not guaranteed results) you could try a passive splitter like RF Venue 2X1SPLIT Passive Splitter/Combiner (assuming your frequency setup is within the range) and split one of the antenna ports for two units

      I have an SLXD (J53) and a UA844 splitter, which antenna is the correct one, the one from SLXD or do I have to buy it because there are no 2 long ones in the set?

    Do you know if I can connect side by side on the same rack.. my wireless microphone receiver and my wireless IEM monitor receiver with a "coupler" mounting kit purchased from amazon? both receivers appear to be the exact same size.

    • @tgbatg
      @tgbatg  ปีที่แล้ว

      you could but i think you my have your info mixed up. IEM boxes in the rack transmit, while wireless mic boxes receive. you could mount them side by side, as long as you have proper antenna distribution. If you keep the antennas as is on the boxes you will just be setting your self up for failure.

      @@tgbatg yeah for sure. I knew that, I mistyped/mispoke. Thx for clarifying. Yes, I ended up mounting the antennas on a separate rack.

    Thanks for making this video I'm still confused on how to set up the antennas is there a diagram to follow?

    • @justinquinn7995
      @justinquinn7995 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What are you confused about? I can help... in a system like this the antennas will connect to the UA844. If you are just running 1 reciever, they'll connect to the reciever, if you're using 2 recievers you can use 2 passive antenna splitters to feed both recievers, beyond 2 systems you'll want to use an antenna distribution unit as is shown in this video.

    If they don’t come with the long rack mount piece that goes on the bottom across both units, can that be ordered individually? The ones I’ve unboxed for my church didn’t come with that
