@@joshola353 ok so listen I haven't played confidentiality ever until yesterday and now I play 10x better I'm so happy I got out of my comfort zone for 3 years football will be fun if you play make mistakes lose that's how you get better
You know what's the proud feeling for me when my whole team is attacking and i am the only one who is playing cb staying with goalkeeper and my whole team have full confidence on me that opponent can't score us, this is best feeling ever while playing as a cb
Usually when a team wins, the Strikers or the Goalkeepers get all the credits, Defenders are just always in the back in terms of recognition, respect these players!
As a full back myself, I can say this is true. When the teams wins, what said above happens and when we lose, the blame comes to us no matter how hard we try. Despite being one of the hardest positions defenders are always underrated. This mostly happens because the ones who blame are just ordinary fans, but the group of people who actually know what is going on does appeciate the whole team and respects the team evenly
Jay, i been following this channel for like a year now, and i got better because of your tips and trick, now im one of the best defenders of my youth league, so i appreciate it a lot, dont stop uploading videos like this bro, AGUANTE ARGENTINA!!💪
Today was day one of my 23/24 season in my academy and while it was halftime I watched this and I managed to not let enybody pass me and we got the 3 points with a G/A of 7 (4 goals 3 assists)
now i defend better i can do dive to tackle and helping and passing when i play in the park i keep defender i just love it thank you to unisport for helping me
Could you make a video that's goes in depth about a defenders positioning on the defence or offence aswell as positioning when faced in certain situations such as a 2 v 1 on goal
I'm a defensive midfielder this helped me a bit Infact I have long legs and I'm 6"7 Wich helps me in winning headers and physical play so I am good in both defense and attack 💪💯☕💥 Training makes perfect 🔥🔥🔥
i liked all of this but for me, i am not the best on the team there are some real good team8s and when i communicate by telling them "go forward, i'll pass u a thru ball" they get angry and start saying im bad and stuff, tips for that? thanks uni
I have been plying football for a long time and i have been a defender since then am a slide tackle monster so i think this is good advice for beginners and defenders that have been playing as this position for 2 or 3 months bc they have to improve a little more
Idea for a video: 3 Defensive uses of stance: 1v1 to hold till your cover is in position, Steer and Delay in defensive stance back peddling, how to back peddle with speed (similar to what American foot defenders do from the line of scrimmage, but the proper soccer way).
Having played in defence many times (I'm normally a midfielder) tackling should never be the major drive of defending. Organisation, reading the game , composure and judging the offside line are far more important. MOst of the game isn't about tackling for a defender and is often actually, a last resort.
I grew up in Italy playing football everyday, where boys and girls by the age of 10 they already know all the basics of football and half of them have the qualities to start training in minor leagues. I always played as defender because of my size. What I learnt in those years is that awareness is everything. Especially in low -mid level football, if you are aware of opponent's position and their qualities, you can intercept almost every pass. At age 14 we won the local league with the best defense. Me and my other mates wouldn't even need to tackle: where interceptions weren't enough, we were just running on them and use our larger size to make the attacker loose his equilibrium.
I was playing with some kids I didn’t know yesterday and I was GOATed on defense. I kept trying to direct them and tell them where to go to cover passing lanes and I kept anticipating all of the other team’s plays seeing everyone that was making runs. It was so frustrating when I was telling them who to mark and when to press and fall back and for the most part they weren’t listening. For someone who has only been playing a few months and not very seriously at that I think I have a pretty good games iq and awareness and feel for the game. The kids on my team were pretty good in terms of technical ability and such but I feel as though their iq was lacking and I had to make a lot of last ditch tackles and clearances. Still had a lot of fun though. Remember guys the sure fire best way to get better at the game is to play and also be conscious of everything that happens while you do. This will increase your iq and just overall awareness and familiarity with the game. All of that is a super underrated but extremely important part of football that can literally change the entire course of a match especially at lower levels. Just something to keep in mind 👍🏾
I was once the best defender of my team and i use all of these tactics, now am injured and my team is losing badly because of the new defender thank you for the tip I would really like to tell my new teammate how to improve in defending because he doesn't know how.
I have a question on positioning on through-balls. If you are guarding a wing on a through ball should you stay tight or let him run in from wide and hope you beat him in the footrace. Or should you drop just before the balls played to get a step?
I would say it depends on the the winger operates on that particular game , many wingers love to play it to their fullbacks then overlap behind if you decide to be tight on his pockets . Some rather stretch out the field and always look out for the midfielders to run in from behind . What I certainly love to do is always keep track and command my backline into playing more high up the pitch so that I can force the opposition team to play long and not give them freedom . playing high up the pitch also guarantees high press from your team.
I honestly am very competitive and I would do anything to get my team a shot to score my intercept I would say I’m decent and honestly the worst feeling of being a defender in my opinion is when the opponent scores especially if you could of prevented it
I am currently a midfielder but I want to be a CB because my defensive game is much better than my attacking game therefore I wouldn’t help much in the attack, but the problem is my team has 2 insane CB for my age, should I consider RB, my RB isn’t good and I thought since rb is a weak spot i could go there since we have good midfielder back-ups, should I ask my coach to go RB?
if you are quick and are able to contribute to the attack from the wing, definitely ask to go rb. if not ask to go cdm. if you're already a cdm and want to move from there then ig you just have to deal with it
This is my strategy in game I focus on the ball and the 3 teammates around him and when I have the ball I look around the pitch and the people in front of me and I look at my teamates I usually cross it to the one that are very far away from me and I don’t go front a lot and I also make sure it doesn’t go offside my awareness is good but am always square so the first tip help a lot am the second biggest in my class and Am 59.3 pounds that’s the definition of upper primary I went to school 2 years late or am in one grade behind high school and I acan the pitch when the ball is out for like a pass I have good pace and phy so far and my shooting is good I have most of my power in my right foot but am left handed and that’s all this video helped a lot thanks for up,pacing this
TIPS FOR DEFENDING
1. AWARENESS (look around)
2. OFFSIDE (communication)
3. PASSES (good passes)
4. COMPOSURE (stay cool and think)
5. INTERCEPTIONS (good interceptions , think before interceping)
6. TACKLING (guess or get the mistake )
7. SKILLS (doing skills , outside stepover)
i have decent football ability but I lack so much confidence sadly

euphoric right there feels like u bust a nut when u save the whole team
I agree as a cb, this is the best feeling. Knowing that your team believes in you.
same that’s one of the reasons why i love playing cb
i agree as an only playing CB for my team
