I'm a 63 year old lady who has had osteoporosis & now osteopenia. Years ago, I reversed the osteoporosis by walking 2 ½ miles & worked out every day. I quit smoking as well. In 2009, I ruptured the L5,S1 & that's when my health swirled the drain. I've had many surgeries on my spine to use a neurostimulator trial & implant. That thing had been moved around many times & I finally had it removed. I've had 2 herniations in my neck & in 2022, I had a laminectomy decompression surgery & I had 2 disks that were in the severe case & the surgeon never touched them, so I haven't gotten any relief. My lower back & sciatica have been painful since 2019, but now I have severe pain in my back & left hip & both legs feel like I've been bitten, feels like something is crawling all over my legs!!!! It drives me crazy. I've fallen 4 times since June 2022 because my legs are super weak. It prevents me from exercising because it hurts so bad in my low back. The last time I fell was in May & I wound up with an infection. I'm now a type 2 diabetic & I can't drop this weight I've gained because everyone has stopped looking for the source of my pain. They say my spine is stable, what??? 👀🙄 They keep wanting me to drop the weight because of my heart & I can't exercise like I should. Do you know how I should proceed with these issues?? Thanks for sharing!!! 😊👍🏼
Thank you so much. Have sciatica; degenerative disc osteoarthritis early onset arthritis in neck age 25. Have been doing PT since then. In rigorous P T last year 3 X weekly 3 hour sessions with outstanding PT. 7 months. Doing PT at home. Just turned 70. Also am Type I diabetic. LADA. Age 52. Have watched many videos online. You are great ! Added 3 more of your exercises. Live in NJ. Snow. Cold weather difficult for arthritis. Thank you. God bless you. You are superb. I feel relief in my spine. I am tiny. 5’4”. Weigh 110 lbs. Everything is Genetic.
Thank you for this information. I just turned 50 and am in the middle of getting a formal diagnosis for back issues since I just got temporarily poor enough to get state covered health insurance. I am checking around to see what I can possibly try to do *safely* for relief and carefully building strength in the right areas without overly screwing things up in the meanwhile. Saw a great doc (who listens, totally lucked out!) and suspects disc issues making my existing sciatica problem worse. I also have an unusual amount of (bone?) clicking and clunking near my low back/hip and my hip joints fewl tight. Have had sciatic pain periodically since I was a teenager, but it always came and went and never saw anyone for it. Between last and this year especially, it has not dissipated and gotten worse (especially the leg numbness, weakness, and tingling with the usual pain in my right leg). On my driver's license I show a 5' 2" height (officially measured at 5' 2.5" in my 20's). They took my height measurements at my last appointment and I was duly shocked when the nurse said 5' 0.5" (and I was wearing flip flops). I mean, I could've been off somewhat from my original measurements, but that reduction seems like A LOT. 😮 I've had stretches of office computer work and more recently much more physical work, which I actually prefer (as I have late dx'd ADHD in my 40's). The 'motor' in me likes being on the move, working with earbuds in, and no forced completion timelines. Particularly working grounds, beach, and building maintenance at a state park and doing overnight stocking at a grocery store during the off season (in the deli where boxes are not as frequently heavy, but still). In a recreation sense, I like gardening and dealing with animals so have handled a lot of 20-50 lbs of feed and soil on the regular. I probably haven't used the best form always thinking I was invincible (or just not thinking), so here we are. 😮😬 I would really hate to do something else as I really like those jobs and they keep me moving, physically strong, and my weight in check *otherwise* . Just got xrays yesterday, next am up to see a neuro doc in early January and will likely be getting an MRI. Also got a physical therapy referral, but may wait on that until at least the xrays get back. I also ordered a couple of back braces from Amz to try out for added support and protection. One is longer and has shoulder straps to help posture and the other is strictly lower back. Should get here after Xmas. One weird thing I am experiencing that's new is very brief occasional sharpish-to-sharp pains that last 1-2 seconds in random areas of my back and sides. I can only describe the pain as the needle prick during a lab draw at a 25%-75% level (of that pain). Will address it with the neuro, but not sure if that's something that can be experienced with back or nerve issues. In any event, apologies for the epic tale. 😄 I plan to go through your video library when I get more downtime and will see how the recommendations in this video will pan out for me. Happy Holidays and New Year to you and yours! 🎉
I'm 84 and have had sciatica for a very long time. I am getting pain down both legs an awful lower back pain on walking. But now getting pain on sleeping. Thank you for your tutorial, will put your suggestions into practice.
Hi Irene! Sorry to hear about the back and leg pain you are getting. I hope these exercises and suggestions ca help! Please keep me posted on how it goes
Thank you God has done it for me what i have try to know about my exact location. God have sent you to me and others. Out of 10 video. You have come with the solution i have been looking for. Thank you. God bless you always Amen. Please don't stop this exercise. We all appreciate it. Thanks for letting us know what is best for us.
Shrey, thank you for your very helpful videos! I have been spreading your name about in my friends and family. One suggestion, I have been using walking poles for a couple of years. They provide greater help with balance and posture, and using them like cross country ski poles, they actually allow a certain amount of the power required to walk to come from the arms, giving one a fuller body workout. Using them I am able to walk up hills that I found difficult before.
Hi Ursula! Thank you for the kind words and the excellent suggestion! Walking poles can certainly help with balance and gait and it turns walking into a much more effective and mindful activity. Love it! Thanks for sharing. I will keep this in mind for future videos. I am actually making a new video on how to strengthen your legs for walking up-hills, will surely include that in there!
Thank you for a really informative and clear video. I suffer from sciatica, foot numbness, severe cramps due to disc protruding touching my nerve. Awaiting facet joint blocks or surgery. I am glad you also said dont stay upright as that does hurt and i have to sit sideways to take pressure of spine. Any advise about severe cramps around and ankle and heels
WOW I had no clue on what you said cause I have sciatica on my left side and I have had problems with pooping and peeing but mostly getting stool out, noone else has mentioned this to me at all.I have been walking about an hour and a half but when I get back to it maybe I'll try the stretch that you showed in this video!
I've been treating my sciatica with tramadol and paracetemol. I REALLY want 2025 to be a NO medication/alcohol year. I am starting these exercises tomorrow. Say a little prayer for me, please. I am 67, 90 kilos, 188 centimeters.
Wish you could make videos with subtitles for the viewers like myself who are deaf. Not quite understanding everything you are saying by lip reading. Thank you for showing exercises though, I'm just recovering after five months of my first bout of sciatica, let's hope it's the last, never had such excruciating pain. Will definitely try the exercises though. Thankyou.

hmmm...this is exactly the opposite of what was ordered for my dad to do. Now i am confused. the rehad doc told him NOT to bend down as this may not be good for his spine. 🤔
