Bought this album in a 2nd hand store in 1983 by a recommendation from the owner. Learning Lee Dorman was in the band was an instant buy. Lots of 'true to rock' roots here.
40 years ago, I was turned on to Captain beyond by a friend who was an excellent drummer and actually Jammed with Rhino and Lee Dorman(who I was listening to in 7th grade with Iron Butterfly, the sad tragedy of a band that shoulda been a contender, a somebody-but for a few of us wisened who know the Pkeasures of the Captain
They may not have made hits or been world famous or made it into the Bullshit Hall of Fame, but if you read the comments under every Captain Beyond video here, you'll see many intelligently-written comments like yours, all still raving what a great band this is. They may not have made it big, but they still live on in the minds of people who know music.
It's sad sad sad when you mention to someone hey you really need to check out these guys and they kinda give ya who the fk. Is that and all you can respond with is a little smile knowing that you know who and the music they made. How sad they weren't more on top than they were, me well I don't care just kinda feel sad for the and if ya asked about crack the sky probably the same duh look, man we had the best, how lucky were we. Oh well
Seen these guys many times. Saw them with Black Sabbath at the Hollywood Bowl. CB definitely held their own with Sabbath. This album is a desert island album along with the first self titled album.
About a year ago I was at Walmart. The car next to me had two stunning women standing beside it both dressed very nicely. I get in car start it this song was cued up and started playing. Both women started dancing to it.
Underrated album. So many fans of first album refused to give this a fair shot. The first album was basically one song. This is a lot different but on good equipment and cranked this album comes to life.
It wasnt just one song, but i know what u mean... still, far more better than this one... they changed their sound a lot... with a less psychedelic tune....
phydeauxddog I thought sufficiently breathless was the first album I may be wrong Oh I am I thousand years of yesterdays apologies I thought that it was anyways I’ve always loved captain beyond Even Dawnexplosion took awhile to grow on me my taste is always growing. That live Texas I don’t know what year what a trippy Jam they took it out of the box there wish I was never got a chance to see these guys
This was always my favorite album by these guys a lot of people got upset they took the jazzy Fusion down a little bit and got more popish prog it’s all Starglow energy of music anyhow I love Of their shit
ok, somebody i know found the name of this guy, his name is Jason Cahoon, he was there between Evans and Daffern....so didn't made a record with them...
That's incorrect phydeauxdog -- Rhino is the one second from the right, next to Bobby Caldwell, with a mustache. The guy next to Dorman is their vocalist, and is not Rod Evans, and isn't Willy Daffern from the Dawn Explosion lineup, so I really don't know who it is. In any event, this is not the correct lineup for this song -- Rod Evans was still their lead vocalist on Bright Blue Tango, and Bobby Caldwell had left the band, so the wrong picture has been put up for this song.

It's almost criminal that folks don't know this band. The first album is even better

Class Knows Class!!
Sounds like it would fit nicely into a Tarantino movie..
What memories. Great song by a great band.
johnnydodger Captain Beyond is back and touring
A rare case: there is no even one dislike!
Underrated album. So many fans of first album refused to give this a fair shot. The first album was basically one song. This is a lot different but on good equipment and cranked this album comes to life.
I gave it a shot...and love it
@@Circuit7Active all their albums are good this one got put down because it wasn't like the first one.

Only Boby Caldwell can tell us who this guy between Rhino and Larry is. I guess we have to go to FB and give it a try to catch up on Bobby.
Damn, this is a fucking awesome upload, thanks!!
does anyone know how can I get this lead guitar tone?
This pic got nothing to do with this song, this is 1977 pic
Yep, Rod Evans voice cannot be mistaken and NOT Rod in the pic.
Bridges was here Ohio rocks sneakers n shades
Howrver it is very hard to confuse Rod Enans beatifical voice with another!
Rare and tasty
ok from left it's Dorman, the other guy ( singer) , Rhino and Caldwell, who is this singer, it's not Rod Evans and it's not Willie Daffern ?
It's Jason Cahoon, who was brought in as an emergency singer during the 2nd half of the first tour. Without Rod, Bobby and Lee had been singing.
With further investigation, the person is Rod Evans-not Jason Cahoon.
i seen this picture very often, who is this guy beside Dorman ?
Richard Pérusse El Rhino
They both came from Iron Butterfly.

Turns out that the picture is of the vocalist-and it's ROD EVANS!!!
Bobby Caldwell you mug.... imagine what CB could of done if you hadn't left in a huff..... the third album sux.
The flow is kinda weird.
