The best summary I have ever heard for Nyarlathotep is describing him as a combination of Satan and The Joker. He spreads chaos and madness for his own amusement and has powers that joker could only dream of (minus the unwarranted narcissism, he is an actual freaking deity by all counts.) If you want a villain that's something more than a Demon Lord or a Lich, than go for the guy who makes Satan look like a pussy.
10:58 We just finished a Mythic campaign where Hastur was the big badguy. My character was a cleric of his before, but through mythic path shenanigans began worshipping himself and cast off the False King. Very satisfying final fight, but not the most difficult one because we had prepared so much for it. +40 Will saves, fortune hex, and mythic surges meant ONLY ONE of us went insane. We've also played Delta Green, which is like X-Files mixed with Call of Cthulhu, and the tone shift was crazy. In the Pathfinder game we didn't beat Hastur outright, but we were able to cause him to have to reform and severely hampered his plans. in Delta Green, the time we had to torture and execute one of the player characters to make sure infectious knowledge he had wasn't going to get out was one of the better outcomes we could have had in that scenario.
pretty good video, but here's a list of more Lovecraftian creature in PF: Shoggoth, Denizen of Leng, Gug, Hound of Tindalos, Leng Spider, Leng Ghoul, Serpentfolk, Shantak, Moon-Beast, Voonith, Yithian, Zoog, Spawn of Yog-Sothoth, Colour Out of Space, Dark Young of Shub-Niggurath, Dimensional Shambler, Elder Thing, Gnoph-Keh, Mi-Go, Moit of Shub-Niggurath, Star-Spawn of Cthulhu, any Great Old One, Hunting Horror, Keeper of the Yellow Sign, Larva of the Outer Gods, Star Vampire, Being of Ib, Ib Shade That said, well done. this was a very good video capturing the themes and feel of lovecraftian horror
@@med0374 they are kinda spread across different books, so it's a bit hard to pinpoint a source. A good place to start is the Strange Aeons adventure path. If memory serves me right, Bestiary 4 should also have a decent number of lovecraftian creatures
Or trying to specifically wake the old god up so it can restart the world with a batter dream. I've used The Church of the Sleeping God as an evil entity in many campaigns.
I’m considering playing a Chaotic Neutral Cleric of Yog-Sothoth. Someone who is drawn towards forbidden knowledge, not for power but to satisfy his curiosity. A master of teleportation and realm exploration who never stays in one place for too long.
Trying Pathfinder for the first time and I'm really liking the Oracle mystery Dark Tapestry. Also I'd love your opinions on what is strong with this. I wanted these abilities to pair with a seeker archetype. To play a character who is seeking answers as she searches out tomes and items to try to see why she has these powers. It's a dark homebrew we are playing so I think she will fit in with the world and party. Loving your content so far.
The triangle is from the movie The void, the green underwater part was from the call of cathulhu video game but I don't know what the shadow ghost part is from
In their defense ... the fact that EVERY deep ones in the colony can use spell trigger and spell completion items ( scrolls / staves / wands ) as if they had the spells in their spell list is a force to be reakon with !!!!!
I wanted to go with the most iconic and recognizable mythos creatures. There are lots of other great monsters out there, like the ratlings and elderthings.
What are some good non lovecraftian things to mix up in with it? I’m running an occult campaign soon and I’m thinking the progression is street crime > undead > some kind of use of the wicker man enemy. > then aberration and lovecraft. Does this seem like a good progression? And now I have a reason why the entire country is encased in a single wall and has never been invaded or really looked at in 400,000 years
The first clip is from The Void. The second and fourth are from the game Sinking City. The third is from a short film called Thresher which you can see on TH-cam.

Delta Green content is badly needed on TH-cam.
Wonderful video. The best thing about your videos is your advice, and the clarity of how you present things.

Where can I read more about them? I mean there is some rulebooks or something?

"Deep Ones can mix blood with just about anything"
So they are the humans of the oceans?
My only interaction with deep ocean dwellers has been deep fried ones so who knows what else they are capable of?
A follower of Azatoth would be making offerings and playing accursed flutes so that it doesn't wake up from its sleep

I feel like Skum already fill the Deep One's niche in Pathfinder, and they're probably more flexible for DMs to modify.
I have really enjoyed your videos. You set a great mood and you educate well. Thank you.

Would love a 2e edition 🤟
Lovecraft in a nutshell- tentacles, lots and lots of tentacles
Don't forget about the teeth. Lots of teeth too.
and eyes

But here comes the big question; What archetypes are best for running a cultist of the Old Ones?
The cleric archetype, Elder Mythos Cultist would be a good place to start.
Being of Ib Elder Mythos Cultist
D6Damage Duly noted! Also noticed you left out Dagon. Is that just because they decided he was demon lord for some reason?
what are the movie clips from?
Good Video, but I think you missed some Lovecraftian Horrors, like the Hounds of Tindalos
I wanted to go with the most iconic and recognizable mythos creatures. There are lots of other great monsters out there, like the ratlings and elderthings.
@@d6damage93 Well that makes sense, though I would say that elder things are very iconic too.

My answer is likely waaaay too late but look up some of the Daemons.
Cool man
Are you getting these from, if not have you seen Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder?
Uhm what movies are the vids from? Must seeeeeeeeeeee
