It would be supremely helpful if you would put some text and the equations up when you are doing your calculations of cost for items in the future. You're throwing out a lot of numbers and it all kind of gets jumbled up when you can't see the numbers. Awesome video as usual.
Another excellent video! I prefer to play Wizards in Pathfinder 1st Edition. As DM, I have a Headmaster in the Academy of Magic, who has a self-crafted Staf of Power. I detailed the creation as including the spinal bones of an Adult Green Dragon that he killed. I figured that was badass enough for a Staff of Power.
Good stuff, thanks! More staff from other sources. The current Pathfinder magic-item system, including wands and staffs could be done better, via homebrew to better meet any given campaigns needs and other ideas from other sources, may be the way to do it.
the sheer utility of an umd familliar with a staff of walls....Or UMD master in general (only way for them to cast 8th level spells or inferior daily, if your party caster is willing to spend the slots or you have an high-level SLA).... that being said staves are...Not that great.They are horrendously expensive for what they do. If you want to extend your daily spellacasting, you are better off with pearls of powers, or an handy havresac full of scrolls or wands. Remember that you can only recharge one staff charge per day using a spell slot equal to the level of the highest spell the stafff can cast. What it is really useful is for spontaneous casters who want to cast other spells than the one you know. You can learn the spells you need to craft the staff and forget them afterward, or simply use one of the premade-ones (their spell list is not that great tough....) or even using scrolls in the crafting (D.M call, but by R.A.W it works with a mnemonic vestment....And if your D.M is nice you maybe even able to do without.).....But then again a page of spell knowledge is a wonderous item that let you do all of the above for less imoney and a much more useful feat (craft wonderous items) Wizard can use them to cast spells of their oppositions schools without spending 2 slots....But again you can also do that with scolls or pearls of power (sort of)
What are you talking about? There's no such rule for wish. It's just a staff with 10 charges of wish, and you can refill those by spending a 9th level spell slot.
Surely, that would be broken. I remember that there was a "chance" that, after casting Wish, you might NEVER get to recast Wish again. Was that removed from later editions of the game? That is what I am referring to.
Staves, from what I've seen, can be really good or a complete waste of money, depending on the character and spells they know. The Staff-Magus archetype, for instance, almost requires the crafting or purchase of a Spark Staff (12,650 gp buys you 10 shocking grasps, 5 intensified shocking grasps or 2 lightning bolts a day). Mid level clerics can really expand the types of spells they can memorize a day with the Staff of Healing (no need to memorize lesser resto, remove blindness/deafness or remove disease with this staff in hand). But yeah, a lot of staves, maybe even most of them, cost way too much to justify the purchase or crafting.

Does it "break" after the wish or only if you fail on the wish, like how you can't ever cast wish again if you fail on the casting of it?
