Awesome for covering aberrations. Easily my favorite creature type from sheer variety. Funny you should mention build-up with an aboleth, as it was one of the stand out moments from my previous Pathfinder campaign. I had my players enter a dwarven stronghold with really weird things occurring every now and then. The dwarves had weird scales developing on their body. It turned out that the dwarves had dug into an underground cove with an aboleth sleeping in the waters. The aboleth had been transforming the dwarf and mind controlling them to kill outsiders.

Nice video. I've been looking for some interesting aquatic enemies for my party and the Chuul are perfect.

I swear those are Half-Life 2 Striders in the opening image on the beach... Also thanks. I needed to learn more about aberrations for my campaign

The appearence of Veiled Masters made me much more interested in Aboleths.

If Sauron from Lord of the Rings forcibly entered the D&D multiverse, would be be an Outsider (Angel/Devil), or an Aberration?

Throwing a gibbering mouther in with a group of any other monster makes the encounter that much harder as it can lock down your casters.

Any recommendations on re-skinning the intellect devourer? I just hate that it’s just a giant quadruped brain.

Personally, I like the ‘leech that drills into your brain’ motif. Alternatively, you could go for an extra-dimensional mind controller such as the Enslavers from the Warhammer 40k universe

Maybe have it look like the scyphozoa from Code LYOKO?

Don’t get me wrong, aberrations are cool, but the definition of theses monsters always seemed too arbitrary. Sure their “strange” and “alien” bit I feel like a lot of monsters in dnd can fall under that category. The lines tend to blur a bit too often for my taste.

    But aboleths don't use Magic

If you're talking about D&D then you're right. They're psionic, but in Pathfinder they use magic.
