Brilliant piece of work and well done matey, thanks for making this video. Only a suggestion, when using the casting box I cut razor thin lines from the piece outward to toothpick sized holes that release the air when the metal is going in, I have never had partial fills and the lines are too thin to leak liquid metal. I learned this from Andrew Berry At the bench casting video. Hopefully this helps. 😊
Wow, that coin turned out really well! I was wondering how much detail it was going to show, because molten aluminum looks like such a goopy metal. But, it shows all the detail of the original.
Awesome work on reproducing the coin, it turned out perfect. I so thought that was old bacon grease, until I skimmed the comments and seen it was wax. lol
I was literally thinking of this the other day, well similar, pranking family and friends, making 3d pla coins with their picture on them and lost casting in bronze
How did you get the detail on the coin to come out so well. Did you add anything to thin the alu out ...did you degas? Threw my first ever cast ..trying to make a sinker mould form friend. Forming was way off. Looks like consistency of the alu was too thick. Need beginners advice please
The details came out really nice. How hot is this gas furnace? I read that aluminium melting point is roughly 660°C, I set my electric furnace to that but the cans did not do anything other than smoking off the paint. I set it to 730°C and the cans melted but the surface tension seems to be pretty big and it doesnt track details in the mold very well. You dont seem to add anything to the molten metal, is it just the higher temperature which helps it flow better?
Just saw your video great work I have a question would it be possible to get a small set of coins? We work at the Sherwood Forest fair in Texas and these would be great for our Prince John. Would it be possible?
Does the wax make it easier or more difficult to clean the aluminium? I'm just wondering since I have never seen other people cool ingots down with wax before.
@@meltingipswich so question then. Why quench in wax instead of water? Seems like an unnecessary expense and added effort. Still trying to justify purchasing my first foundry and I'm trying to learn all I can first.
Al be up and running this week looking forward to it so far 11 alloy wheels mountain bike blinds and guy generously gave me to copper back boilers to melt so going to be busy

the material that is solid at first when you leave the ingots in the vat and then melts, is wax or some kind of solid fat ? what is the reason for this process and why not leaving to environment to cool down little by little ? thank.
Love videos like this. No talking. No BS. Just show me how it's done.
Thank you 👍

I'm shocked that the coin came out so perfect, without any air vents.
WOW. That coin came out perfect!
Thank you
Yes mate you'v sertently nailed that one. keep the sound of the pond in mate really relaxing good job as usual 👏👏👏👏
Thank you I am very pleased with that coin
Luke that coin man plus another big bar to boot thanks for the video 👍

Seeing it in person it actually looks better than the original. I am over the moon with this cast
Glad I found this. Also, I didn't know Ipswich was named Ipswich Town.
Hi there Thank you for watching. Yeah it’s Ipswich uk 🇬🇧
Awesome work on reproducing the coin, it turned out perfect. I so thought that was old bacon grease, until I skimmed the comments and seen it was wax. lol
😂😂😂 I thought I would try something different to quince them
Thanks for sharing, that coin came out great.
Thank you 👍
Loved it. Great result.
Great Video!! The coin turned out Fantastic!!! 👍😁
Thank you
magnificent coin cast.
Thank you
Very nice! Thinking 🤔 maybe hot enough to fry!!
😂😂 it’s candle wax
the coin had great detail well done
Thank you
Sand casting doesn't produce fine detail. It is better to use silicone for high temperatures.
Great pour. Really captured all f the details
Thank you 👍
I like watching this thanks 🇦🇺
Thank you for watching 👍 that probably one of my best videos
Subbed. Great work. And thanks for all the training
Thank you
This is so cool. I want to make a coin with my face on it so I can pretend to be queen. I gotta figure out how to do that, lol
🤣😂 that would be cool. Thanks for watching 👍
This coin looks very nice 👍
Thank you that’s my favourite cast yet 👍
Thanks for sharing
Thank you
Nice work
Thank you
The cooling in wax was just for AMSR effect, I assume, because I could not take my eyes off it... Thanks for the video...
It was something I wanted to try but pretty cool and a bit of fun

No I didn’t add anything I think I just heated it higher than usual and scrapped all the dross off. I’m going to make this coin in copper soon
Good video thanks for sharing with the community. I subbed.😎⛏⛏🔥🔥
Thank you
lol using a "bucket" around the bucket for keeping the wax cleaned up a bit more this time!
Yes I got in trouble last time 😂

Absolutely I can cast any coin if I have a model to go from such as a 3d print or another count to copy but also I’m in the uk 🇬🇧
That came out brilliant! 👍👊 What is the stuff in the bucket you used to cool down the ingots and coin? And why? Looks like some kind of fat or oil.
Hi ya. It’s candle wax I just thought I would try something different and it’s pretty cool to watch actually
Thanks for watching 👍
The black smoke you see is a plastic layer of the can being burned
Does the wax make it easier or more difficult to clean the aluminium? I'm just wondering since I have never seen other people cool ingots down with wax before.
Hi there I pour a hot kettle over them before I clean them it pretty much take off all the wax but they clean up lovely

Why u put wax in ur bucket ?
Amazing job for the coin 👍
Ur ingots look great too
Ty for sharing
The wax is no real reasons I just wanted to try something different

What is the white powder you use for easy separation ? Talcum ?
Yeah talcum powder it works perfectly
how much for a cheap set on all the items used for sand casting those ingots and the coin?
Sorry do you mean the casting flask
You sell those bullions on eBay and will get more money than the recycle centers.
Curious what the can count was. Awesome video!
I have done a video on 500 cans and I’m going to do a 1,000 cans soon
Thank you for watching
I do this when i have no money left i melted some metals to become coins and buy what i need
😂🤣😂
Where did you pick up those ingot molds?
eBay

Hi there first of al thank you for watching and commenting but there is no reason for it it was candle wax and it was just for a bit of fun 🤩
@@meltingipswich ok, thank again. 🙂
Is that a bucket of butter? 🤔
No it’s candle was I was trying some new and different
Which sand did you used
Petrobond
👍⛏️🇦🇺😊🙋
Why do you use wax?
It was just a thing I tried 👍
I sell my copper 10 bucks a pound instead of 2 bucks now at the yard
I normally take the scrap value and x 3.5
Nice coin - Not a fan of the wax :P
1.7+ KG from a bunch of cans??!
What material do you use for the mold? I'm from Mexico, I use a translator for this comment, greetings
Hi 👋
I use petrobond sand
Thank you for watching
