I'm sitting here wondering why you didn't sort out the roof while you had the boat under cover, or was it never under cover? Only been subbed for a few months, so I may be missing something...
Hi Andy I notice you are using stick on some parts of the build and some flux core mig on others. Is there a specific reason for this or just what was to hand at the time. Forgive my ignorance, but I'd like to learn to weld but there seems to be a lot of choices and ways of doing it. Cheers.
Hi Christopher, Thanks for watching & commenting. I use both flux cored MIG & 7018 Low Hydrogen rods. They are both high strength wires ie they are rated at 70,000 PSI tensile strength. Overspeck for non structual welds but give a nice clean weld when used to them. Flux MIG is faster if doing some long welds ,but you must pull it & not push it as you can with gas MIG. Outside with glare I tend to use stick as I can see it better with my young eyes. Hope this helps. Cheers Andy
@@nogunwales9406 Thanks Andy. I had a Portamig but never used it, and the project passed. Next time I think I'll start with stick and move forward on that. Thanks also for posting your excellent videos; very informative and entertainment.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggles getting on and off the roof.
Great Stuff Andy
Thanks David👍
Fettle, my favourite word.
I you need to slip it into coversion when you can Trevor.

He has 3 to work on. One is moored and the other two are under cover…
@@janeclark4643 Thanks, Jane.
This boat has not been under cover, it is being stripped by the weather slowly. Due to be painted shortly if eggs are eggs.
